It was a face of such breathtaking beauty that it could topple kingdoms and conquer cities.
Even heavenly maidens could not compare to her, because immortals lacked that unique blend of purity and seductive charm she possessed. Nor did they have her lively intelligence and mischievous wit.
The man holding Jin Luoluo was also dazzled by the peerless beauty before him. Mesmerized, he stood there blankly, completely motionless.
Jin Luoluo grinned, clenched her fist, and threw a punch squarely at his face, knocking his features askew. Taking advantage of his stunned state, she broke free from his iron grip and ran desperately toward the rear of the boat.
Meanwhile, Xiao Luo gazed into the distance.
Seeing Jin Luoluo dodging left and right in terror amid the chaos, a deep sense of heartache slowly rose within him.
He was anxious, but he dared not shoot arrows recklessly, fearing that a stray arrow might accidentally injure her.
For the first time, he hated the fact that his legs were crippled.
When he wanted to go save her, he did not even possess the ability to walk over to her himself.
He let out a sharp whistle.
At once, the shadow guards concealed nearby appeared.
“Qinglong, take the others and rescue Miss Jin. Go now.”
Kneeling on the ground, Qinglong froze in surprise and looked up.
“What about His Majesty? Isn’t our duty to protect the Emperor?”
“Save her first. Leave two men behind to guard the Emperor with me,” Xiao Luo ordered in a low, commanding voice.
Qinglong immediately led the others, leaping swiftly from boat to boat.
On another vessel, Xiao Yu and Xiao Che saw the sudden turmoil aboard the grand barge and became frantic with worry.
Any anger they had felt toward Jin Luoluo instantly vanished.
All they wanted was to reach her side and protect her.
“Third Brother, too many boats have crashed together ahead. Our boat can’t get through. Luoluo is in danger right now. How can a girl possibly deal with so many men by herself?”
Seeing Jin Luoluo bravely swinging a pole to fight back eased some of Xiao Yu’s anxiety, but he knew she could not hold out for long.
If they failed to rescue her in time, there was no telling what those beasts might do to her.
At that point, she truly would be taken advantage of.
“Yes. Let’s jump onto those barges. Crossing from one barge to another will be much faster,” Xiao Che said.
The moment he saw Jin Luoluo in danger, his concern completely overwhelmed his anger.
The two men leaped onto a nearby pleasure barge together and began making their way across the vessels lined up side by side.
“Luoluo, watch out!”
Xiao Yu suddenly roared in warning.
