HEIFEIGU -Chapter 5

Hated by the Entire Internet, Fixing the Entertainment Industry by Going Unhinged7 min read6 of 161

The manager reported everything to the company, especially Xie Jixing’s personality change.

The company decided he wasn’t worth much. If he couldn’t pay, keeping him was useless—and he was no longer controllable.

Xia Letian was more valuable.

So they agreed to terminate the contract.

It was just paperwork and a stamp.

But being bitten back by someone they’d oppressed for so long left a bitter taste.

After termination, the manager immediately made things difficult.

“The dorm is company property. Move out by tomorrow, or security will help you.”

“All company-issued social accounts must be handed in.”

Xie Jixing logged into the old account.

About 2 million followers.

Inbox: 999+.

All insults and curses.

No wonder the original owner had less than 2,000 faith points.

Two million haters.

Disgusting.

Whoever wants it can have it.

As for housing, Xie Jixing looked at the unlucky ghost beside him.

“We’re not going to be homeless, right?”

The ghost shook his head proudly.

“I have a house!”

A broke celebrity with less than 10,000 yuan… who owned a house.

Xie Jixing finally felt relieved.

Move tomorrow? Fine.

Bring it on.

But bad luck still didn’t spare him.

After finishing the recording, carrying a large duffel bag and hoping to hitch a ride back to the city, Xie Jixing was stopped outside the nanny van.

“Xie Jixing, you’ve already terminated your contract with the company. This car is assigned to Summer Star members. I’m taking them out for dinner tonight, and we won’t be going back to the dorm. You can take a taxi yourself.”

The agent’s bulky body nearly shoved him off balance. Right in front of him, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

“You think you can even get a cab here?” Ji Jin stuck his ugly face out of the window. “Maybe if you walk until dawn, you’ll make it.”

The car sped away, leaving only exhaust fumes behind.

Xie Jixing looked calmly at the unlucky ghost, though inside he was raging.

“If I burn everything I can, can you blow that car up for me?”

The unlucky ghost’s pitch-black eyes looked clear and stupid.

“M-Me? Me?”

Taking two deep breaths, Xie Jixing told himself not to rush. There was plenty of time. Sooner or later, he’d deal with those idiots.

He opened the ride-hailing app.

Great. This place and his damn dorm were at opposite ends of the city. It would take about two hours by car.

He chose the cheapest option. When the price popped up, he almost clutched his chest.

Over 200 yuan. So expensive!

And yet, no one accepted the order.

What else could he do? He could only wait. Gritting his teeth, Xie Jixing thought that if worst came to worst, he’d just walk back.

He hugged his backpack and sat by the roadside. After fighting all day, he looked exhausted and fragile. His head drooped, face buried in the bag, body curled up behind it like a small lump.

The unlucky ghost felt sorry for him but could do nothing. It was all because of the mess he had left behind that Xie Jixing ended up like this.

Filled with guilt, he floated beside Xie Jixing, biting his black fingernails.

“If it weren’t for you, I might be dead too.”

Xie Jixing tilted his head, resting it on the bag, and looked at the ghost.

This time, he didn’t speak in his head. He said sincerely, “Thank you.”

The ghost was struck by his warm, smiling eyes. A suspicious blush even appeared on his pale face.

Damn it. Why was he blushing at his former self?!

Let’s wait another ten minutes.

Xie Jixing decided to tease the unlucky ghost for ten more minutes. If no driver accepted, he’d start walking.

Walking and resting, he’d get there eventually. He wasn’t afraid of night roads. If he ran into ghosts, even better—he could catch a few and have them carry him home!

“Xiao Xie.”

A black sedan stopped in front of him. The passenger window rolled down, and Yu Xinghan poked his head out.

Xie Jixing looked up.

“Why are you sitting here? Can’t get a ride?” Thinking about what happened on the show, Yu Xinghan quickly pieced things together.

He had heard that the kid had terminated his contract. With his former agent’s petty personality, he must have known this place was remote and hard to hail a cab, and deliberately dumped him here.

Yu Xinghan softened and looked at the man in the back seat.

“Can we give him a lift? Otherwise, he might be waiting until morning.”

The man glanced out the window.

On the curb was a small curled-up figure, looking pitiful.

When he looked up, he resembled a stray cat waiting to be kidnapped.

The man nodded. “Alright. Let’s take him first.”

“Xiao Xie!” Yu Xinghan waved. “Come on, get in. We’ll take you back.”

Logically, Yu Xinghan should have given up his front seat, but every time he sat near his friend, he felt cold, like he’d get frostbite.

Young people were full of vitality. Letting Xiao Xie freeze a bit should be fine, right?

Feeling guilty, he rubbed his nose and watched Xie Jixing open the back door.

As soon as he got in, Xie Jixing said three thank-yous in a row:

“Thank you, Teacher Yu! Thank you, sir! Thank you, driver!”

“It’s on the way,” Yu Xinghan said. “Give your address to Brother Wang first.”

“Okay!” Xie Jixing handed over his phone.

The middle-aged driver smiled. “Alright, sit tight. Let’s go.”

Only the man in the back remained aloof, merely nodding slightly.

After silently calling him “pretentious,” Yu Xinghan joked, “My friend here has an iceberg persona. No need to chat with him—just don’t get frozen.”

Xie Jixing thought to himself, What does this have to do with an iceberg persona? With that much yin energy, of course he’s cold.

To him, the man looked wrapped in black mist, surrounded by dense yin aura. He had clearly been haunted for a long time.

Xie Jixing himself had brought along an unlucky ghost, now floating behind Yu Xinghan.

This car was packed with ghosts.

Yu Xinghan shivered. “Brother Wang, is the AC too low? Why do I feel cold?”

Xie Jixing secretly smiled and tugged the ghost backward.

Then he noticed the man in the shadows watching him.

Huh? Checking out my looks?

Unfazed, Xie Jixing met his gaze directly.

Only then did he see him clearly.

The man had sharp features without looking fierce—perfectly balanced masculine handsomeness.

But his sunken cheeks and dark circles added gloom, making him seem gloomy and cold.

What a waste, Xie Jixing squinted, trying to imagine his peak looks.

The man looked away first.

Xie Jixing imagined how handsome he’d be without the dark aura.

Then he slowly stretched out his little finger.

Closer. Even closer.

One touch shouldn’t be noticed, right?

His fingertip brushed the icy back of the man’s hand.

The man immediately turned his head.

Uh-oh. Busted.

Xie Jixing smiled innocently. “Sorry, sir. I wanted to move a bit. Didn’t sit steadily.”

The man said nothing. He stared at the red mole under Xie Jixing’s eye, then at his fingers, and looked away again.

Passed!

Xie Jixing looked at the bit of black aura he had plucked off.

A ride here would’ve cost him over 200 yuan. He wasn’t riding for free—he’d helped solve about 100 yuan worth of yin energy.

Since it was a carpool, half price was reasonable, right?

As for this being a luxury car—he’d just transmigrated. He didn’t know.

He tore the black aura into pieces and fed them to the unlucky ghost.

His original world was parallel to this one.

But ghosts ran rampant there, so cultivators were common. His sect, Shancai Sect, specialized in ghost taming.

How did they tame ghosts?

By throwing money at them.

Money makes ghosts work.

Real currency, personal merit, spiritual power, and believers’ faith could all be converted into yin fire.

The stronger the yin fire, the stronger the ghosts one could control.

Theoretically limitless.

Unfortunately, demonic forces caused chaos. To save the world, Xie Jixing burned through all sect resources—and himself.

Thinking of it made him angry.

They used to be the richest sect, with several luxury flying ships. How did he end up unable to hail a cab?

And back then, he wouldn’t even look at a ghost as weak as this unlucky ghost. At best, an R-rank card.

Only because it was a new “99” ghost did it still have consciousness.

Holding the last piece of aura, he thought: this man’s aura is strong. Should I get his contact info? I really want to poach this ghost!
