This works too?
Lu Wu raised an eyebrow in disbelief. She leaned over to take a look and immediately laughed.
“Scram!”
That was Miss Jiu’s reply—brimming with fury.
“Xiao Jiu, I’m not scramming.”
With an expression that practically said I knew this method would work, Pi Xia sent the message.
Unfortunately, what greeted him was a notification:
Message delivery failed.
You have been blocked by the recipient.
Looks like whether he wanted to scram or not, he was going to have to.
“Brother, this isn’t working.”
After watching the show for quite a while, Qin Zhan and the others finally emerged from the alley.
Enough time had passed since they had eaten the bugs, so they no longer had to worry about anyone asking awkward questions.
Hooking an arm around Pi Xia’s neck, Qin Zhan dragged him aside and began imparting his wisdom.
“When it comes to women, you’ve got to coax them. But there’s a right way to do it. You have to go along with them, not argue against them. You know—stroke the fur in the right direction.”
Qin Zhan spoke confidently, and it actually sounded pretty reasonable.
Pi Xia nodded seriously and even pulled out a notebook to take notes.
For once, Qin Zhan was speaking like a normal human being.
Just as Lu Wu was beginning to think he was finally making some sense, Qin Zhan dragged Pi Xia over to her stall.
“Boss Lu is right. No amount of sweet talk is more moving than genuine action.”
“Listen to me—buy some of these bugs and send them to her. Once she tastes them, she’ll definitely understand your good intentions. Then bringing up making peace again will be perfectly natural.”
The corner of Lu Wu’s eye twitched.
She knew Qin Zhan couldn’t possibly say anything sensible for long.
The girl was afraid of bugs, and this genius wanted to send bugs directly to her face.
Making peace?
This was declaring war.
Anyone with a functioning brain would know that.
“That’s right. You’re absolutely right.”
“Boss Lu, for the sake of my happiness, can you let me cut in line?”
Pi Xia was completely convinced. At this point, he practically regarded Qin Zhan as a soulmate.
Brother, you really understand me!
Long Zhang felt an odd sense of déjà vu.
“You’ll have to ask the other customers. If they’re okay with it, then it’s fine.”
Lu Wu shrugged.
All her invisible customers were watching from the sidelines. She had to treat everyone equally.
“Boss Lu, I’m not in a hurry. Let him go first.”
Someone appeared and even gave Pi Xia a friendly smile while stepping aside.
“Yeah, I’m not in a hurry either.”
“Compared to us, your relationship is more important.”
“Hurry and send it to that young lady. Little brother, do you have a portable teleportation array? If not, I’ve got one you can borrow.”
Quite a few people revealed themselves and generously offered their spots.
“I do have one. Thank you all. You’re such good people.”
Pi Xia never expected so many people to support his love life.
With a grand wave of his hand, he declared:
“As thanks, today’s bill is on me!”
“Magnanimous Young Master Pi!”
“Please, Young Master Pi!”
The crowd cheered enthusiastically, seemingly singing praises for Pi Xia’s romance.
Yet the looks they exchanged with one another carried deeper meanings.
This was the first time Lu Wu had ever seen customers voluntarily give up their places in line.
All she could say was that there were truly many good people in the world.
After all, every single one of them was waiting to watch the disaster unfold.
This wasn’t helping.
This was pure chaos-loving behavior.
Young Master Pi simply provided too much entertainment.
Since the customers had all agreed, Lu Wu naturally had no objections.
Based on Pi Xia’s tastes, she carefully packed several of the most horrifying-looking bugs she could find.
Hopefully Miss Jiu would survive receiving this gift.
“Brothers, I’m sending it to Xiao Jiu right now. Once she forgives me, drinks are on me!”
Pi Xia was exhilarated.
Southern Province really was a wonderful place.
Beautiful people. Kind hearts.
“Don’t mention it, brother. Success doesn’t have to belong to me—but it definitely includes me. We’re looking forward to your good news.”
Was that phrase supposed to be used like that?
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Pi Xia activated the teleportation array and sent the package through.
The food vanished successfully.
Now all that remained was waiting for the response.
In a courtyard within Zhang Family Tower in Western Province, Miss Jiu glared at the messages Pi Xia had sent through the One Realm Communicator.
She wanted nothing more than to twist his head off.
Was he even human?
Knowing she was terrified of bugs, he still insisted on provoking her with them.
He had been like this since childhood.
What exactly did she even like about him?
As she sank into deep self-reflection, she noticed movement inside her storage pouch.
Pulling it out, she discovered it was the portable teleportation array linked to Pi Xia.
The array could only transport small items, but she was usually the one using it.
This time, however, he had activated it himself.
Could it be…
Had that idiot finally figured things out?
A trace of sweetness welled up in her heart.
She quickly opened the array.
A paper-wrapped package landed on the table, carrying a delicious aroma.
Food?
The method was incredibly old-fashioned, but for Pi Xia, this already counted as progress.
Praising him inwardly, Miss Jiu opened the package without any caution.
The paper unfolded.
Its contents were revealed in full.
Deep-fried bugs lay glistening with oil, waiting to be devoured.
Unfortunately, Miss Jiu was not a customer.
The moment she saw their shiny, twisted forms—
She exploded.
“AHHH!”
With a shriek, she leapt away from the table.
“Pi Xia, I’m going to kill you!”
She swore that if she ever forgave him again, she’d eat every one of those bugs herself.
Beside the package was a recording stone.
She didn’t need to think to know it probably contained more nonsense.
She was about to throw it away, but hesitated.
She wanted to see just what kind of ridiculous things that idiot could still say.
She activated it.
A scene appeared.
Inside, Lu Wu’s customers sat in neat rows, happily munching on bugs.
No one seemed bothered by their ugly appearance.
They chewed enthusiastically, cheeks puffed out, smiles plastered across their faces.
They looked genuinely happy.
“Xiao Jiu, these bugs are really delicious. Give them a try.”
Pi Xia’s voice sounded.
“Xiao Jiu, I really know I was wrong.”
“I swear I’ll never be such a jerk again.”
“When I come back, I’ll go to Zhang Family Tower and formally ask for your hand in marriage.”
“An eight-man bridal sedan, phoenix crown and embroidered robes, red clothes and a white horse.”
“I still remember everything I promised you when we were children.”
“You promised you’d be my wife, Xiao Jiu. You can’t go back on your word.”
His words pulled Miss Jiu into old memories.
Childhood sweethearts.
Growing up together.
The moment she understood romantic feelings, she had known that no one but Pi Xia would ever do.
A few sweet words later, her cheeks turned slightly red.
Most of her anger melted away.
Glancing around guiltily to make sure no one else was nearby, she replayed the recording.
Listening to the love confession again, she hesitated before looking at the package.
Pi Pi said it’s delicious…
Maybe I should try it?
Having made her decision, Miss Jiu reached toward the bugs.
It had to be said:
Being a love-brain was a bad thing.
But if there were two love-brains together, then somehow everything worked out fine.
“Do you think Xiao Jiu got the package yet?”
“Why hasn’t she replied?”
“I wonder if I bought enough for her. I should’ve gotten more.”
“Xiao Jiu… Xiao Jiu…”
Back at the stall, Pi Xia squatted on the ground with his chin resting in his hands, looking troubled.
He called her name over and over like some wandering ghost.
The smiles on the faces of the customers waiting for drama gradually disappeared.
Had they just been shown off to?
Why did they suddenly feel like punching this brat?
