Ji Heguang had weathered the ups and downs of the business world for many years, building an enormous empire from scratch. By the time he reached his forties, he had already become the new richest man in China. His life was smooth, successful, and nearly flawless—except for one defect that had become a chronic knot in his heart.
He had no children.
His sperm’s survival rate was too low to impregnate any woman.
For ten years, he visited renowned hospitals and doctors both domestically and abroad, trying countless treatments, all to no avail.
Finally, at 48 years old, he accepted his fate—that he would never have a biological child. His wife tried to comfort him, saying they could adopt in the future.
But Ji Heguang immediately rejected the idea.
After so many years in the business world, he had seen too many feuds within powerful families. Even biological children could turn into mortal enemies over利益; how much genuine loyalty could adopted children offer?
Fine then. If that was the case, after he died, he would simply donate all his assets as a contribution back to society.
But fate is unpredictable. Just when Ji Heguang had given up completely, things took an unexpected, miraculous turn—
His fifty-year-old wife became pregnant.
Ten months later, she gave birth to a son—both mother and child healthy.
When Ji Heguang saw that wrinkly little “monkey” in the delivery room, this man who always kept his emotions hidden burst into tears. His wife teased him about it for more than ten years.
She gave the baby the nickname “Lele,” hoping he would live a life full of joy. It was the couple’s shared wish for their son.
Overflowing with joy, Ji Heguang flipped through dictionaries for more than ten days before finally choosing his son’s formal name—Ji Hejing.
Only after having a son did Ji Heguang truly understand the essence of Su Dongpo’s poem:
“Everyone raises children hoping for them to be clever;
I was ruined my whole life by my own cleverness.
I only wish my child to be foolish and clumsy,
To be free of disaster and reach high rank safely.”
Wealth and power—those were the things for the father to pursue. His son only needed to grow up safely.
Never had Ji Heguang imagined that he would one day become a stereotypical doting fool of a father. Holding his son’s soft, fragrant little body, poking that tender, delicate cheek, he felt his heart melting.
He even put aside work and transformed from an unsmiling, domineering CEO into a grinning, full-time stay-at-home dad.
Ji Heguang discovered his son’s abnormality when Lele was three months old.
Lele almost never cried. Only when he was hungry or needed a diaper change would he whimper a little. Most of the time, he was quiet, and within those bright, clear baby eyes appeared faint traces of adult-like contemplation and evaluation.
And at seven months, he spoke for the first time—not simple words like “Dad” or “Mom,” but an entire sentence.
“Dad, I’m hungry.”
Ji Heguang was so shocked he nearly jumped out of his skin.
It was hard to describe what he felt then. More than shock, it was a deep confirmation—so it’s true, my son really is a genius.
Over the next month, Lele’s vocabulary quickly expanded. He could already hold simple conversations.
By the age of two, he had mastered high-school-level mathematics and possessed perfect eidetic memory, able to recite anything he read. He also fluently used English, French, Japanese, and three other languages.
Ji Heguang hired a team of top domestic and international education experts to test Lele’s cognitive abilities and IQ. The results surpassed even his imagination.
His son had an IQ of 190—higher than Einstein—and possessed photographic memory, storing everything he saw as permanent mental images. He displayed extraordinary language-learning ability, capable of mastering a new language within a week, adult-level logic and reasoning, absolute pitch, and outstanding color perception…
One foreign expert couldn’t help exclaiming:
“He’s basically God’s illegitimate child!”
For ordinary people, possessing even one of these talents would make them world-famous. But this two-year-old child had a dozen of humanity’s highest-level abilities all at once—putting him far beyond ordinary mortals, into something closer to a “monster.”
No wonder the expert compared him to God’s child.
The experts stared at Lele like he was some rare treasure.
“If he doesn’t enter the scientific world, it will be humanity’s loss!”
“With his talents, he may become the second Einstein!”
“Please educate and train him well! He must receive the world’s top resources! I would gladly write him a recommendation letter for Caltech!”
“No—MIT is the best school!”
These dignified old professors actually began bickering like schoolchildren over the future school choice of a two-year-old.
Ji Heguang watched with a mix of pride and growing worry.
After sending the experts away, he gazed at his son’s innocent little face and let out a deep sigh.
He had grown up hearing stories about child prodigies and later met many geniuses with IQ over 130. His own company employed many high-IQ elites.
But extraordinary intelligence was often a curse. Geniuses were too sensitive, too perceptive. Many went insane. Many died young.
Now, his own son was one of them.
He was proud, thrilled… but also deeply afraid, restless, unable to sleep.
In the darkness of night, he and his wife sat on the bed in silence, overwhelmed with anxiety.
Throughout history, genius and madness were always separated by a thin line. Many scientists were also mentally unstable.
He didn’t care about the “future of humanity.” He only wanted his son to grow up safe. Even if he were stupid, that would be fine.
In his eyes, Lele was just an ordinary child. He deserved an ordinary childhood. He didn’t need studies—he needed play, friends, wasted time, the long years required to build a mature self and a healthy mind.
Time passed quietly.
Ever since his son was born, the television occasionally reported mysterious killings. Urban legends of man-eating monsters circulated. Supposed sightings appeared online.
Ji Heguang dismissed these rumors. His villa had top-tier security, guarded by retired special forces. Safety was guaranteed.
He still didn’t understand what “unpredictable fate” truly meant.
When his son turned five, he threw a grand birthday party, even inviting the world’s largest circus troupe to perform.
To help his son’s social life, he invited all of Lele’s classmates.
It was supposed to be a joyful celebration.
But what happened afterward became his lifelong nightmare.
The circus animals transformed into terrifying monsters.
Palm-sized lizards suddenly became meter-long reptiles; lions grew metal-like scales; three-headed monkeys shrieked; and the elephant… the elephant was no longer an elephant—it had become a huge mass of flesh, crawling on the ground, dozens of fleshy tendrils lashing out toward humans.
It was something out of a horror movie.
The hall filled with screams. Children shrieked one after another. With a sickening bang, one child’s body exploded into meat paste. The air filled with the thick stench of blood.
In the few seconds Ji Heguang froze, more than a dozen children were eaten. He dared not hesitate any longer—he grabbed his son and tried to escape with the bodyguards.
……
Le Jing loved his new life.
A wealthy family. The best education. Even if he wanted to become Iron Man and burn money on research in the future, his family could support it.
But most importantly, his parents loved him deeply.
When he exposed his superior intelligence and non-human qualities, he wasn’t met with fear or attempts to exploit him. Just pride and worry.
They feared he would burn out.
Such a wonderful family—of course it couldn’t last.
Curled up in his father’s trembling arms, Le Jing looked past his shoulder toward the blood-soaked nightmare behind him.
A fleshy tendril shot toward Ji Heguang’s back. If it hit him, it would pierce his heart instantly.
……
Ji Heguang would never forget what he saw next.
His son somehow mustered great strength, breaking free from his arms and running forward.
“Lele, you—!” He reached out to grab him, but caught only air. Lele vanished from sight.
The next second, Lele appeared directly in front of the massive flesh monster. He slowly raised his hand, and his entire body erupted with blinding platinum light.
The light was warm, pure, beautiful—its radiance washing away all negative emotions like a cleansing salvation.
Ji Heguang forced his eyes open despite the tears caused by the brightness. He stared desperately at the blurry small silhouette, terrified he would lose his son forever.
Staggering, he ran toward the light. As it dimmed, he finally saw clearly—
Lele, his son, stood on the circus stage with his back to him. The monsters had collapsed in piles, motionless, seemingly dead.
“Lele…” he called softly, afraid to awaken any remaining horrors.
“Dad.” Lele turned around slowly. In his molten-gold eyes flowed searing heat like magma. Standing upon the stage, he looked down at the panicked old man below. His smile was faint and unclear. “Goodbye.”
With a hoarse voice, Ji Heguang shouted: “Where are you going?!”
Lele glanced behind him. “They’re here to pick me up.”
Ji Heguang spun around. At some point, two rows of men in black uniforms had appeared. The leader carried a small rocket launcher.
He instinctively shielded Lele behind him, face pale. “Who are you?!”
“We are members of the SCP Foundation. Full name: Special Containment Procedures Foundation. We belong to the China branch and have come for a containment operation.”
The leader bowed slightly toward the stage. His voice respectful. “Lord… we have come to escort you.”
