People in ancient times married early. Ji Shan and Hu Chunhua weren’t exactly young, but once they drank that medicine, at their age, they’d be bedridden for at least several days.
Who knows—afterward they might even develop psychological shadows toward each other. The drug was viciously potent; if it wasn’t fully neutralized, the desire would keep coming back.
The people outside couldn’t see what was happening inside the room. All they saw was Jiu Yue lifting the bowl to her lips, and everyone assumed it was done.
Shen Mei and Ji Dahu burst out from the shadows, practically gloating, while Ji Dajiang also came out of the room. Even if he couldn’t perform anymore, he still wanted to humiliate Jiu Yue—he wanted to watch her suffer alive.
The drug hadn’t taken full effect yet. Jiu Yue watched the old couple desperately clawing at their own throats, trying to vomit out the tea they’d swallowed.
But was it really that easy?
“Who gave you the drug?” Jiu Yue didn’t believe someone as dim-witted as Hu Chunhua could come up with something this vicious. Jiu Yue herself had no real moral bottom line—
—but she knew exactly what the most effective way to destroy a woman was. From ancient times to now, it had always been the same. For some reason, Jiu Yue felt a touch of sorrow.
As women, so many women became accomplices. The rotten, filthy ones were clearly the men, yet countless women still became the executioners.
Jiu Yue had always disdained using such methods. They were disgusting.
Hu Chunhua shook her head frantically, gagging, clearly unwilling to speak. But Jiu Yue had already guessed it. Ji Dahu loved money—he just wanted to trade Jiu Yue for cash.
But Ji Dajiang was lustful. And besides, Jiu Yue had destroyed his “tool” today right in front of everyone.
There was no way Ji Dajiang wouldn’t seek revenge. And…
When Jiu Yue beat Ji Dajiang earlier that day, she’d smelled a sedative on him. You didn’t even need to think with your brain—just your toes—to know whose drug it was.
As Hu Chunhua and Ji Shan’s gazes began to blur, Jiu Yue stood up and dragged the two of them outside.
Ji Dahu and Ji Dajiang, who were hiding in the courtyard shadows, so pleased they’d forgotten themselves, froze when they suddenly saw Jiu Yue come out.
Then they saw Hu Chunhua and Ji Shan—eyes unfocused, faces flushed.
Ji Dahu and Ji Dajiang lifted their legs to run. Jiu Yue turned back cheerfully and looked at them. Ji Dahu immediately froze.
Ji Dajiang, however, kept bolting for the exit. Jiu Yue looked at Ji Dahu and said, “If he runs, then I can only beat you instead, okay?”
As soon as the words fell, Ji Dahu screamed. Remembering the terror of having his bones dislocated and reset, he stopped caring about anything else, sprang up, and charged after them—slamming Ji Dajiang down right at the courtyard gate.
Ji Dajiang was just one step away from the gate.
Just one step!
Jiu Yue tossed Hu Chunhua and Ji Shan straight into their bedroom, then brushed the dust off her hands in disgust.
Ji Dajiang was still struggling. Ji Dahu dragged him over like a dead dog and dumped him in front of Jiu Yue. Then he and Shen Mei obediently stood beside her, like guardians.
Very perceptive.
Ji Dahu’s daughter, Ji Xiaoyu, eagerly brought over a stool for Jiu Yue. Jiu Yue raised an eyebrow—this family of theirs switched sides far too obviously.
Ji Dajiang’s hands were injured, and his lower half was still in pain. Jiu Yue hadn’t even done anything yet, and he was already trembling all over.
“So,” Jiu Yue said, “that thing of yours can’t even be used anymore, yet you still wanted to drug me. What exactly were you planning to do?”
Ji Dahu glanced down in shock at Ji Dajiang’s crotch and instinctively clamped his own legs together. Jiu Yue looked no more than a teenager—how could she describe something so horrifying with such casual indifference?
Ji Dajiang hadn’t expected Jiu Yue to say it outright. Along with the humiliation came an overwhelming hatred. Li Xiaocao and Ji Dajiang’s daughter, Ji Xiao’ya, stood numbly at the kitchen doorway, watching him be humiliated without pleading or saying a word.
Seeing Ji Dajiang stay silent, Ji Dahu stopped overthinking and shoved him. “Why aren’t you talking? What exactly were you trying to do?!”
Ji Dahu hadn’t participated. He’d only heard Hu Chunhua say that Ji Dajiang had a way to deal with Jiu Yue, so he’d hidden in the shadows to watch the show. In the end, it was another case of trying to steal a chicken and losing the rice instead.
In just two days, how many losses had they suffered at Jiu Yue’s hands?
Only two days in, and Ji Dahu already had the illusion that Jiu Yue was omnipotent. They hadn’t gained a single advantage from her—only ended up half-dead.
Seeing Ji Dajiang still refusing to speak, Jiu Yue reached to her waist. Mm, the soft needle was still there. As expected of a custom combat outfit—she carried at least a hundred silver needles hidden in a single set of clothes.
Ji Dajiang was just about to open his mouth when he saw Jiu Yue reach to her waist. Everyone watched as she pulled out a silver needle nearly two chi long.
Ji Dajiang’s eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He’d been kneeling, but now he kicked against the ground, scrambling backward in terror.
Jiu Yue stood up. With a deft flick, the soft needle straightened and stood rigid in her hand. Smiling, she looked at Ji Dajiang’s horrified expression. Goosebumps rose all over Ji Dahu and Shen Mei; Shen Mei hurriedly chased Ji Xiaoyu back into the room.
This looked like it was going to get bloody.
“Do you know?” Jiu Yue said softly. “This needle—I can insert it through the top of your skull, then guide it all the way down. Through your brain, your eyes, your nose, your mouth, your throat, and then further down. You won’t die. Guess where it’ll end up?”
Ji Dajiang gagged and vomited loudly. Just hearing her description terrified him into retching. Ji Dahu no longer cared about his brother; he dragged Shen Mei aside, wanting to vomit but not daring to.
Was this even a human being?
“I’ll talk! I’ll talk!” Ji Dajiang cried. “I hired people—planned to wait until you were drugged, then have them defile you and kill you!”
At the word drug, Li Xiaocao, who was standing by the wall, stiffened violently, biting her lower lip hard.
“Where are those people?”
Ji Dajiang swallowed. “They should be by the window. They knock, and I let them in.”
Jiu Yue glanced at Ji Dahu. Ji Dahu immediately ran inside, grabbed a jar of wine, rushed to the window, and tossed it straight outside.
This couldn’t be spread around. If outsiders found out, the entire Ji family would be finished.
An uncle drugging his nephew’s wife—who knew how people outside would twist that story? The reputations of the Ji family’s children who were still studying would all be ruined.
Ji Dahu hadn’t shown himself, but he’d roughly seen at least four people standing outside the window. His heart shook violently. He was greedy and loved small gains, and he’d even thought about killing Jiu Yue—but not in such a filthy way. He had a wife and daughter himself.
Jiu Yue narrowed her eyes slightly. This time, she truly intended to kill Ji Dajiang. Compared to that, the petty tricks and minor tortures others used were nothing more than itchy annoyances to her.
They deliberately dealt with things in the front courtyard, farther from the main hall. Even so, the occasional noises from the hall could still be heard. Everyone present knew exactly what those sounds meant.
Hu Chunhua and Ji Shan were already so old, yet they still managed to make that much commotion.
Ji Dahu didn’t dare tell Jiu Yue how many people had been outside the window. But Jiu Yue didn’t need to be told—if there’d been only one, how could that possibly have satisfied Ji Dajiang’s burning hatred?
