Although the High Priestess’s voice was hoarse, the excitement within it was so intense that everyone present could hear it clearly.
Jiang Suisui was startled and subconsciously glanced at the bracelet on her wrist. She had possessed this bracelet ever since she transmigrated into this world. All this time, she only knew that it was connected to the spiritual spring space, but she had never imagined it had any other origin.
“High Priestess… what did you say?” she asked uncertainly.
The High Priestess did not answer. Instead, she stepped closer. The cloudiness in her eyes had disappeared, replaced by an unusually bright gaze. She stretched out her withered hand, as if wanting to touch the bracelet, but stopped midway, as though she feared disturbing something sacred.
“There’s no mistake… this aura… it’s exactly the same as the Sacred Spring…” she muttered to herself, her aged body trembling slightly from excitement.
Suddenly, she made a move that no one expected.
She withdrew her hand, leaned on her bone staff, and slowly knelt before Jiang Suisui, performing an ancient and solemn full prostration.
“The fifty-seventh generation High Priestess of the Guardian Clan greets the Master of the Spring!”
Her voice rang clearly in the silent cavern.
When Wuhuan and the warriors of the Guardian Clan saw this, they were first filled with shock. But soon, as if they had realized something, they followed the High Priestess without hesitation and knelt down in unison.
“Greetings, Master of the Spring!”
Their unified voices echoed through the underground chamber.
This sudden turn of events left Jiang Suisui and her companions completely caught off guard.
Gu Yan quickly stepped to Jiang Suisui’s side and shielded her behind him, watching these tribespeople whose attitudes had changed by a full one hundred and eighty degrees. Wei Ziqian and the guards also tightened their grip on their weapons.
“What are you doing? Please get up!” Jiang Suisui said quickly.
“If the Master of the Spring does not allow it, we will not rise,” the High Priestess insisted stubbornly while still lying prostrate on the ground.
Jiang Suisui felt a headache coming on. She turned to Bai Yutang and shot him a pleading look.
Bai Yutang had finally recovered from his shock. He quickly flipped through an ancient book in his hands, his fingers sliding rapidly across the yellowed pages until they stopped at an illustration. The picture depicted a bracelet identical to the one on Jiang Suisui’s wrist.
He looked up at Jiang Suisui, who was being worshipped by the crowd, his eyes filled with astonishment and understanding.
“Madam,” he stepped forward and explained softly, “the Bai family’s ancient records mention that after the first Medicine King established Medicine King Valley, he used the warm jade from the heart of the Sacred Spring to craft a token called the ‘Spring-Heart Bracelet.’ This bracelet is the only key to the core region of Medicine King Valley and also the symbol of the Master of the Spring.”
He paused before continuing.
“The Medicine King left behind a prophecy that several hundred years later, a destined person wearing this bracelet would come from the outside world and bring new life to Medicine King Valley.”
“And the Guardian Clan,” he added, “are the descendants of a guard who once followed the Medicine King. Their mission has been to protect Medicine King Valley for generations and wait for the arrival of the ‘Master of the Spring.’”
After hearing Bai Yutang’s explanation, Jiang Suisui finally understood.
So the bracelet on her wrist had such a great origin. She had always thought it was merely the carrier of her space, never imagining it represented such an important identity.
Looking at the High Priestess and the tribespeople kneeling devoutly before her, Jiang Suisui felt a surge of mixed emotions.
She finally understood why the Medicine King Token had guided her here and why she had always felt a strange sense of familiarity with this place.
It seemed everything had long been predestined.
“High Priestess, everyone, please rise,” Jiang Suisui said gently. “I am not some ‘Master of the Spring.’ My name is Jiang Suisui. But if this bracelet truly is the token you’ve been waiting for, then I am willing to do my best to fulfill the Medicine King’s request.”
Only after hearing her words did the High Priestess slowly stand up with the help of the tribespeople. She looked at Jiang Suisui with tears streaming down her face.
“We have waited for so many years… and finally, you have come…”
She wiped away her tears, her expression becoming extremely respectful.
“Master of the Spring, you and your companions have traveled far and endured great hardships. Please follow me. The gates of Medicine King Valley have been open for you for a hundred years.”
The Guardian Clan members, who had been hostile just moments ago, were now exceptionally warm and welcoming.
Wuhuan walked over and took part of the luggage from Wei Ziqian and the others. Although they could not communicate verbally, the honest smile on his face conveyed his goodwill.
Several young girls gathered around Jiang Suisui, curiously observing her with eyes full of admiration and affection.
Gu Xuan and Bai Ling’er were also surrounded by several Guardian Clan children of their age. The children eagerly offered them small toys made of stones and animal bones.
Under Wuhuan’s leadership, the Guardian Clan displayed astonishing efficiency. Using a special rope-and-pulley system, they quickly rebuilt a more stable cable bridge across the swamp.
The High Priestess personally supported Jiang Suisui as they walked at the front of the group.
“Master of the Spring,” she explained while walking, “after passing through this Bone-Melting Miasma, and then the One-Line Sky, we will reach the true Medicine King Valley.”
Led by the Guardian Clan, the group safely crossed the swamp. They then passed through an extremely narrow rock crevice that allowed only one person at a time to pass.
At the end of the crevice stood a massive stone wall covered with vines.
In front of the wall, the roar of water filled the air.
A gigantic waterfall poured down from the ceiling of the cavern above, forming a deep, bottomless pool that blocked the path ahead.
The High Priestess walked to a rock beside the waterfall and pressed her hand into an inconspicuous indentation.
A series of mechanical clicks sounded.
The enormous waterfall slowly split apart from the middle, moving to both sides and revealing a hidden, dim tunnel concealed behind the curtain of water.
“Master of the Spring, please,” the High Priestess said respectfully, making a gesture of invitation.
Holding Gu Yan’s hand, Jiang Suisui took a deep breath and stepped inside first.
After passing through the damp and slippery tunnel, the view suddenly opened up before them.
