Ministry of State Security Affairs Bureau (MinDiaoJu) director Ren didn’t care whether the people in the room were willing or not. He sat down directly on Sun Desheng’s hospital bed. Because he had been injured in the incident at Yian Building, his movements were still somewhat stiff.

“Because of your special performance during the Yian Building incident, I held meetings with the ministry leadership. We decided to invite you back to MinDiaoJu as a consultant…” As he spoke, Director Ren struggled to take a few documents out of his briefcase. He continued, “This was something I fought hard to get for you. Don’t think it’s just a consultant title—you’ll still enjoy director-level profits.”

While speaking, Director Ren also took out a fountain pen and handed it along with the documents to Sun Desheng. Then he patted Yang Shuji on the shoulder and said, “As long as Consultant Sun signs this, MinDiaoJu will have a new leadership team—me, you, and Old Yang…”

While Ren Rong was painting a bright future, Sun Fatty had already taken the documents. He didn’t even look at them and directly handed them to the bystanding Chu Qianzi, saying, “Brother, you heard that? Director Ren worked so hard to get this for you. From now on, you must cooperate properly with Director Ren and Director Yang’s work. I’m telling you, you need to fix that temper of yours. All of you are director-level now—stop yelling and hitting people all the time…”

“Wait… the appointment is for you. It clearly says Sun Desheng’s name…” Seeing Sun Desheng pass the documents to Chu Qianzi, Director Ren’s face changed. He quickly reached out to grab them.

“Don’t touch me!” Chu Qianzi glared. “This is ICU. If you touch me, I’ll call emergency right away. Fatty, Shen La, you two are my witnesses. If anything happens to me later—headache, fever, high blood pressure—it’s all on Director Ren.”

While speaking, Chu Qianzi quickly signed his own name at the signature line. Then he flipped through the document and said, “Director Ren, you’re talking nonsense again. It doesn’t say Sun Desheng’s name anywhere. It’s a dummy appointment form—you just need to fill in a name. There—done. Chu Qianzi.”

Director Ren had spent half his life in government administration and had never seen anything like this. He originally hoped this consultant appointment would ease relations with Sun Desheng, but now if this half-grown kid actually took it and went to “assume office,” he wouldn’t even know how to clean up the mess…

“This is an official organizational appointment, not your private playhouse!” Director Ren finally snapped. Taking advantage of Chu Qianzi’s weak condition, he snatched the document back and said angrily, “If that’s how it is, I have nothing more to say. MinDiaoJu is a formal state institution, not your private company…”

With that, Director Ren stormed out of the room without even looking at Yang Shuji. Outside the door, Yang Xiao’s voice could be heard:

“Director Ren, you just arrived and you’re already leaving? Want me to come back to MinDiaoJu for a talk? Fine, I’ll report in after I finish visiting the patients… Take care. If the elevator is still transporting patients, maybe take the stairs instead.”

After watching Director Ren leave, the white-haired, baby-faced man walked into the room. Unusually, he wasn’t empty-handed—he carried a large fruit basket.

“Who said you were sent to the morgue? You’re still as lively as ever,” Yang Xiao said as he placed the basket on the bedside table. “You should try to persuade Director Wu. He just compiled a list and split it into three copies—he gave one to me and one to Yang Jun. You know me—I’ve basically stopped taking big jobs since joining MinDiaoJu.”

Sun Desheng ignored Yang Xiao at first and turned to the fruit basket. He found a small card among the fruit that read:

“Wishing Li Wenge a full recovery.”

Sun Fatty held it up and said with a grin, “Brother, this isn’t your first time in the hospital, but it is your first time bringing something. But who is this Li Wenge? Did you steal this fruit basket somewhere?”

“Don’t worry about irrelevant details. Think about what we should do next,” Yang Xiao said calmly. On his way here, he had seen a dying man and planned to collect the “clear and turbid qi” released at death. He waited in another emergency room, but after half an hour—even after the ghost escort arrived—the man still refused to die. In the end, Yang Xiao left… but not before “borrowing” the fruit basket on his way out.

“Spend some money once in a while. Stop saving everything for your wife’s dowry. Honestly, you’ve already saved enough to buy an island,” Sun Desheng said while eating an apple. He tossed two apples to Chu Qianzi and Shen La, then continued, “Did Director Wu see the list? Are they all murderers?”

“Mostly yes, but they handled things cleanly—no evidence MinDiaoJu can track,” Yang Xiao replied. After a pause, he added, “But if we really investigate, I can summon the wronged spirits who died at their hands for confrontation…”

“Alright, then separate the ones with blood on their hands and hand them to Director Wu. The rest, you and Yang Jun handle and send them to the North District Prison,” Sun Desheng said lightly. “If anyone resists or tries to escape, you can act on behalf of Director Wu.”

“Deal—but if anything goes wrong, you’ve got to cover for me,” Yang Xiao said.

Sun Desheng chuckled. “As long as they’ve got blood on their hands, they go through Director Wu. But don’t go overboard and start killing everyone. Otherwise I’ll deal with you myself. Also—take it easy tonight. Don’t cause any deaths in the hospital.”

“I know what I’m doing,” Yang Xiao said, then turned to leave. But before closing the door, he came back, took the fruit basket, and said, “Your bodies aren’t fully recovered yet—too much fruit isn’t good for digestion. My wife is still growing, so I’ll take this.”

Watching Yang Xiao leave again, Shen La sighed and said, “Boss, do you really have this under control? Those aren’t ordinary demons and spirits. MinDiaoJu has no precedent for this.”

“La Zi, I’m not the director of MinDiaoJu anymore. Ask the new director,” Sun Desheng replied casually.

Before he could finish, a scream echoed through the hospital corridor—faintly sounding like Director Ren’s voice…
