Bureau of Paranormal Investigation: The Final Chapter 6 min read 123 of 172 10

Hearing that greasy, familiar voice, there was no need to turn around—everyone already knew Sun Desheng had arrived.

With Fatty Sun’s personality, showing up for an operation this big without bringing four or five white-haired operatives from Division Six would almost be embarrassing for him.

Sure enough, when everyone looked over, they saw Sun Desheng walking in with Che Qianzi. He was surrounded by Shen La, the two Yang brothers, and Tu An, entering behind the Bureau’s investigators.

He smiled at the directors like Ouyang Pianzuo and said:

“Hey, I’m just saying—when did you guys secretly get into filmmaking without telling me? This production looks expensive. And you, Xiong Wanyi, you really went all out—those holes in your body look way too realistic, still leaking tomato juice and everything…”

While speaking, he had already walked up to Xiong Wanyi and poked a finger into one of his wounds.

Xiong Wanyi’s eyes rolled back as he staggered a few steps and roared:

“Sun Fatty! You did that on purpose, didn’t you?! You know I’m injured and you still—”

“Oh? You’re actually hurt?”

Sun Desheng widened his eyes in mock surprise, looking at him as if he had just discovered something extraordinary.

“Isn’t this just a movie shoot? Why are you getting yourself injured for real?”

Then he looked at Ren Rong.

“And look at Director Ren here—this makeup is even more detailed. Burns, gunshot wounds… wow, you’re clearly the male lead.”

He chuckled.

“Let me ask you something serious—do you guys have any bed scenes in this production? I think we need to learn from that properly. I’m telling you, Chinese cinema is already pretty good, but the bed scenes are always too restrained. Look at the Japanese ones…”

Seeing Sun Desheng arrive with a group of white-haired operatives, the blacklisted group’s faces all turned bitter.

Almost everyone instinctively looked at Bi Yan.

You said this fat guy already left Beijing with all his white-haired operatives… so what is this? Did he just take a lap and come back?!

Even Bi Yan’s expression darkened slightly.

He forced a dry laugh and turned toward Yang Xiao.

“Brother Xiao… help me explain. I just took a wrong step. Considering I’ve helped you all before—”

“Don’t call me Brother Xiao,” Yang Xiao cut him off immediately. “We’re just acquaintances. Not that close.”

Then he turned to Sun Desheng:

“Who’s this? He looks familiar… I just can’t remember the name.”

“How would I know?” Sun Desheng replied casually. “Probably some B-list villain the crew hired.”

He glanced at the blacklisted group and smiled even wider.

“These people used to negotiate with me back in the day. Took benefits and left Beijing peacefully. And now they show up here again.”

He pulled Che Qianzi closer.

“Kid, learn from this. Look at these performances—every single one of them acts like total bastards.”

Among all of them, only Bi Yan’s wife seemed completely unaware of the situation.

She was also from the blacklist, but Sun Desheng had once let her leave Beijing peacefully with enough benefits. She mistakenly believed Sun was afraid of her. With some looks and a powerful husband, she had grown arrogant beyond measure.

Now she snapped:

“Sun Fatty, don’t think bringing Division Six means I’m afraid of you! Spit!”

With that, she once again activated her serpent-like sword, sending it flying toward him.

But before it could reach Sun Desheng, Yang Jun beside him suddenly drew a thin waist blade and slashed downward.

With a sharp metallic clash, the sword was cut in two.

It immediately transformed back into a severed snake corpse and fell to the ground.

The weapon had been refined from a Red-Eyed Snake by Bi Yan. Because the woman was carrying his child, he had given her the weapon for protection.

But now, the destruction of the weapon caused a backlash.

Bi Yan coughed up blood violently and staggered backward several steps before leaning against the wall.

Seeing this, the woman rushed to support him—but still complained:

“Your weapon is useless! You almost harmed my child!”

“HAHAHAHA!”

Sun Desheng burst into laughter.

He gave Bi Yan a thumbs-up.

“So this is Mrs. Bi now? Nice, nice—definitely a good wife. You’ve got a kid already? Great!”

He grinned even wider.

“Have you picked a name yet? What about… Wang something?”

The implication was obvious: the child might not even be Bi Yan’s.

Bi Yan’s already pale face turned completely ashen.

“You’re pushing it too far, Sun Desheng!!”

In an instant, he vanished from his spot and reappeared in front of Sun Desheng, claws aiming for his throat.

But before he could strike, white-haired operatives had already reacted.

Yang Xiao appeared behind him and grabbed his hair, slamming him violently into the ground. Then he lifted him and smashed him down again.

Bi Yan, already near exhaustion, was completely unable to resist.

After being slammed down repeatedly, he coughed out another mouthful of blood and was on the verge of death.

Shen La frowned slightly at the sight, as if considering speaking—but in the end said nothing.

Sun Desheng glanced at Yang Xiao, then chuckled:

“Well, looks like I ran into another crew. I still have to meet Wong Kar-wai later—the movie title is already decided: The 808 Room, A Companion Piece to Chongqing Mansion.”

He turned to Che Qianzi.

“What do you think of that title?”

Che Qianzi ignored him completely and looked at Bi Yan instead.

“Let’s hurry up. I’m still waiting for dinner. Hey, Mr. Bi—how about you just kill yourself? That way we can all go eat. At most we’ll pour you a drink when we toast later—consider it done.”

At that moment, Ouyang Pianzuo walked over.

“Sun, ignore this fool. Hao Zhengyi is still upstairs.”

Those words suddenly reminded Bi Yan’s wife.

She immediately abandoned Bi Yan and rushed toward Hao Zhengyi, pressing a steel spike against his temple.

“I’ll make him accompany my husband in death!”

She was completely reckless now.

Before anyone could react, she tightened her grip—

Bang!

A gunshot rang out from upstairs.

A bullet pierced her temple.

She collapsed instantly.

Everyone looked upward.

The shooter was Xiao Yifeng, who had just come down.

Seeing the situation collapse, the remaining blacklisted members dropped their weapons and sat down on the stairs, no longer resisting, waiting for the Bureau to arrest them.

Seeing the woman dead, Yang Xiao finally spoke to Sun Desheng:

“Sun, Old Bi did help the Bureau before. Spare him this time. At least he hasn’t killed anyone.”

Sun Desheng had already noticed something earlier.

When Yang Xiao was beating Bi Yan, it looked deadly—but anyone who truly knew Yang Xiao understood: if he really intended to kill someone, he would never do it in such a clumsy way.

Those two strikes were clearly meant to signal something.

Sun Desheng smiled faintly.

“Old Yang, I’ll say it again—I’m not with the Bureau anymore.”

He turned to the recovering Ren Rong:

“Director Ren, I’m just here to inspect the filming location. You guys handle the rest. We’re going upstairs to take a look.”
