Accounting Office
“What kind of crappy place is this?!”
As soon as Gu Yihan sat down at her desk, she was startled by the sudden shout.
Recognizing Little Hamster’s voice, she immediately immersed her consciousness into her space.
Confused, she asked, “Why did you come into the space?”
Little Hamster stood on a sack of rice, jumping up and down with all its might.
After exhausting itself, it finally made a dent about the size of a large bowl, lay down inside, and comfortably rolled over.
Its fluffy little ears drooped as it muttered, “The lab is not a place for a mouse to stay.”
Gu Yihan frowned slightly. “Did you sneak out?”
Little Hamster nodded weakly. “You only know how to exploit me. There’s no benefit at all.”
All the medicine it had secretly hidden before had been tricked away by those annoying humans.
They had promised it lots of spirit-infused jade pendants and stones.
But in the end, they were just a pile of pretty-looking useless rocks.
Lowering her head, Gu Yihan absentmindedly flipped through the account book.
At the same time, she brainwashed Little Hamster with her thoughts:
“Exploiting you proves you’re capable!”
“I’d love to be exploited by those big-shot researchers, but they wouldn’t even look at me!”
“When they invent some earth-shaking potion, you’ll be on the first page of mouse history!”
Little Hamster wasn’t some brainless rodent. It didn’t fall for her words.
It complained, “There are no heavenly treasures in this place at all.”
If it hadn’t mentioned that, Gu Yihan could’ve chatted calmly with it.
But once it brought up rare treasures, she got annoyed.
Her beautiful, lush personal space—
Had been absorbed by some unknown mutt of a mouse, and it still dared to complain about Huaguo’s land.
Just as she was about to retort, Sister Min’s voice interrupted her:
“Xiaohan, why didn’t Hu Shan come to work today?”
Gu Yihan glanced at Hu Shan’s empty desk and replied flatly, “Don’t know.”
Sister Min looked at her in surprise.
Normally, Gu Yihan and Hu Shan often ate together. There was no way she didn’t know.
She just didn’t want to say.
Feeling uncomfortable, Sister Min thought Gu Yihan was being petty.
Displeased, she said, “You two are so close. How could she not tell you?”
Gu Yihan lowered her eyes and sneered softly.
“Secretary Min is such a caring colleague. After work, you can buy something and go visit Sister Shan for us.”
Sister Min’s face immediately turned cold.
Wang Guixiang glanced at her expression and couldn’t help laughing.
She truly didn’t understand why some people loved rushing to make others dislike them.
Suddenly, Gu Yihan looked down at Little Hamster, who was hopping on her thigh, her temples throbbing.
She was about to tell it to go back to the space when—
Little Hamster waved its paw.
An invisible blade shot straight toward Sister Min’s face.
“Ah—!”
Sister Min screamed and sprang to her feet, clutching her cheek.
“There’s a ghost!”
Wang Guixiang frowned and snapped, “Are you sick? It’s broad daylight.”
Sister Min couldn’t hear anything now.
She ran around the office in circles, scanning every corner warily.
Finding nothing, she shouted, “Come out! Stop pretending to be mysterious!”
Gu Yihan was stunned that she could actually see the mental blade.
After coming back to her senses, she watched Sister Min scurrying around like a headless fly and held back her laughter.
“Sister Min, you must not be awake yet. There’s no fourth person in here.”
Sister Min’s body remained tense.
Her intuition had always been accurate.
Something really had targeted her, and the pain on her cheek proved it was real.
Wang Guixiang was speechless.
What kind of people were these?
She stood up abruptly, planning to go to the restroom to clear her head.
When Sister Min’s gaze swept over, Gu Yihan instinctively stuffed Little Hamster into her pocket.
Curled up inside, Little Hamster looked up at her.
Silly woman. It could return to the space on its own.
By lunchtime, Sister Min finally relaxed.
Seeing Gu Yihan and Wang Guixiang stand up with their lunchboxes, she hurriedly grabbed hers and rushed to the door.
Bang!
She slammed it shut.
Gu Yihan and Wang Guixiang looked at each other and burst out laughing.
“Xiaohan, is she really afraid of ghosts?” Wang Guixiang asked.
Gu Yihan smiled but said nothing.
Staff Canteen
Before Gu Yihan even entered, Leng Xiao came running over, panting.
“Sister-in-law, my teacher wants to see you.”
Gu Yihan nodded lightly.
She knew he was here for Little Hamster.
After saying goodbye to Wang Guixiang, she followed Leng Xiao away.
Wang Guixiang was so angry she almost threw her lunchbox at his back.
Grinding her teeth, she muttered, “Where did this troublemaker come from?”
She had finally gotten a chance to walk alone with Gu Yihan and talk properly, only to be interrupted by that bastard.
Ten Minutes Later, Outside a row of detached villas stood a solid, towering wall.
The gate was thick iron, with armed guards beside it.
“Sister-in-law, please wait a moment,” Leng Xiao said.
After chatting briefly with the guards and vouching for her, he led her inside.
Gu Yihan looked at the villa, where guards were stationed every short distance.
She leaned toward Leng Xiao and whispered, “What’s your teacher’s name?”
He smiled. “Just call him Master Chu.”
Gu Yihan glanced at him and said lightly, “Oh.”
Seeing her quiet, Leng Xiao thought she was scared.
He whispered, “Don’t worry, Sister-in-law. Teacher won’t hurt you.”
Gu Yihan: “…”
“Okay.”
She wasn’t afraid at all.
In front of someone who treasured Little Hamster, she was a walking signboard.
Living Room
A man in his fifties pointed at Xiao Lin and Xiao Wang, scolding them angrily.
“What use are you? You can’t even take good care of a mouse!”
Xiao Lin and Xiao An secretly exchanged looks, then quickly lowered their heads when Master Chu turned around.
“Useless! You don’t even know how to use a beauty trap!”
Creak.
Hearing the door open, Master Chu shot a sharp look toward Leng Xiao.
Leng Xiao shuddered and hurried forward with a smile.
“Teacher, this is Comrade Gu Yihan.”
Gu Yihan casually sized up Master Chu and found him rather short—
About 1.6 meters tall.
Hearing this, Master Chu immediately dropped his stern expression.
He looked at Gu Yihan and smiled.
“Comrade Gu, has Little Hamster returned to your home?”
Before she could answer, he kicked Leng Xiao in the backside.
“Why aren’t you pouring tea for Xiao Gu? No awareness at all!”
Leng Xiao jumped reflexively.
“Sister-in-law, go sit on the sofa first!”
After speaking, he dragged Xiao Wang and Xiao Lin toward the kitchen.
