Logistics Department Behind the Workshop
Su Yonghong sat leisurely in her chair, humming a tune as she waited for the good news that Gu Yihan would be sent down to a farm for “reform through labor.”
The first time she anonymously reported Gu Yihan for having an illicit relationship, she waited two whole days without seeing anyone from the Revolutionary Committee.
Later, she found out that military wives had a special status. Without solid proof or catching them in the act, the authorities couldn’t make an arrest.
That made her furious.
So she decided to go all out and wrote a signed report accusing Gu Yihan of hiding prohibited items, then submitted it to the Revolutionary Committee.
At first, Su Yonghong had wanted to report Gu Yihan for immoral behavior.
But evidence was hard to get, and she couldn’t imitate Gu Yihan’s handwriting.
So she had no choice but to use this method.
Fabricating evidence for contraband was much easier.
She couldn’t enter the military family compound, but could she not enter the accounting office?
Forging proof of prohibited items was simple enough. She could frame Gu Yihan and make it look like a case of “caught red-handed.”
“Sister Su, you seem in a good mood today,” a coworker in the logistics department joked.
Su Yonghong quickly restrained her smile and changed the subject.
“I found someone to cover my shift. Of course I’m happy.”
Cover her shift?
The female coworker curled her lips inwardly. How lazy.
The logistics department was already such an easy job, yet Su Yonghong still complained about being tired. How pretentious.
An Hour Later, “Clerk Su, someone’s looking for you!”
Hearing the workshop director’s call, Su Yonghong thought the result of Gu Yihan’s case had come out.
Delighted, she stuffed the statistics book into the hands of the coworker beside her.
“Help me with this. I won’t be back anytime soon.”
Before the other woman could reply, she jogged out.
The coworker slammed the notebook onto the desk.
“She’s lazy and slippery every single day.”
“Don’t worry, she won’t stay in logistics for long,” a male coworker said with a smile.
“How do you know?” the woman asked curiously.
“Didn’t you forget? Anyone who’s late more than five times a month gets sent to the workshop.”
Hearing that, the woman’s mood instantly improved.
Ever since Su Yonghong joined logistics, she hadn’t been punctual even once.
Meanwhile, At the Workshop Entrance
Su Yonghong spotted the Revolutionary Committee members wearing red armbands and walked over with a smile.
“Comrades, does Gu Yihan need to be sent down?”
The workshop director glanced at her excited face and shook her head inwardly.
Blinded by jealousy.
Good advice couldn’t save someone bent on ruining themselves. She turned and went back inside.
The leader of the committee looked at Su Yonghong coldly and said to his subordinates,
“Take her away.”
Before Su Yonghong could react, two young men rushed forward and grabbed her arms.
She stared at the leader in terror and shouted, “You’ve got the wrong person! I’m not Gu Yihan!”
“Comrade Su Yonghong,” the leader said coldly, “for slander and false accusations against Comrade Gu Yihan, you are sentenced to three years of labor at Jiabiangou in the Northwest.”
Her face turned deathly pale.
Jiabiangou.
She had heard of that place—filled with hunger and death.
Her body twisted wildly as she struggled.
“You’re wrong! It was Gu Yihan who hid prohibited items!”
The leader sneered.
“To the farm. Drag her away.”
No matter how she cried or struggled, the two men hauled her forward.
“Wuu…Wuu… You’ve got the wrong person…Let me go…”
One of the men grew impatient.
Glancing at her, he snapped, “You dared to use your real name for a fake report?”
Hearing this, Su Yonghong struggled even harder.
“I didn’t fake it!”
She had personally slipped the item into Gu Yihan’s drawer while Hu Shan was in the restroom, with Sister Min keeping watch.
The leader seemed to read her thoughts and sneered.
“If your scheme fails, you bear the consequences.”
Before coming for Su Yonghong, he had called the committee director.
Before he even finished explaining, the director had scolded him harshly and ordered that Su Yonghong be sent to the harshest farm immediately.
At the Same Time, In the Office
Gu Yihan calmly organized the documents that had been rummaged through.
“Xiaohan, don’t you think Su Yonghong is crazy?” Hu Shan said angrily.
“She was transferred to logistics—what does that have to do with you?”
She was so frightened she hadn’t even eaten lunch properly. Her hand rested over her chest.
Her heart was still racing.
Gu Yihan lowered her head and sneered.
“Whose fault is that?”
Hu Shan exhaled deeply and tried to calm herself.
“You’re really unlucky, Xiaohan. You took the blame for Secretary Jiang. If he hadn’t wanted to arrange a position for someone from the provincial capital, Sister Su wouldn’t have been demoted to the workshop.”
Hearing this, Wang Guixiang frowned.
Hu Shan had no filter at all—saying things like that outright.
If she refuted her, she’d seem guilty.
If she didn’t…Wouldn’t that mean Hu Shan was telling the truth?
Gu Yihan lifted her eyes and glanced at Sister Min, smiling meaningfully.
“Looks like you’re the only one in this office who isn’t blind, Sister Shan.”
Sister Min lowered her head and pretended to read the ledger.
Inside, she felt furious.
She had never expected that both she and Su Yonghong had been used by Secretary Jiang.
Gu Yihan finished tidying up, stretched, and picked up her cup.
“Sister Shan, I’m going to get some water. Want me to get you some?”
Hu Shan pressed her chest weakly.
“No… no need.”
Gu Yihan looked at her and noticed her pale face and bluish lips.
Her heart skipped.
She put down the cup and hurried over.
“Sister Shan, what’s wrong? Where do you feel unwell?”
Hu Shan forced a smile.
“My heart’s racing… and I feel uneasy.”
Gu Yihan frowned. The more she looked, the more something felt wrong.
She turned to Wang Guixiang anxiously.
“Sister Guixiang, hurry and find Cheng Bo. Tell him to bring the car.”
“How should I say it?” Wang Guixiang glanced at Hu Shan, a trace of satisfaction flashing in her eyes.
Serves her right.
Gu Yihan abruptly raised her head and stared at her.
“Sister Shan is unwell. Tell him to come take her to the hospital.”
Thinking of Wang Guixiang’s attitude, she immediately turned to Sister Min.
“Sister Min, go with Sister Guixiang to find Cheng Bo. Make sure he comes quickly.”
Sister Min nodded and stood up.
“Let’s go,” she said coldly.
“One of us is enough…” Hu Shan’s voice grew weaker.
Gu Yihan was startled.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Hu Shan’s cup, secretly added some water from her private space, and carefully helped her drink.
