After a while, Lu Huaixu slowly came down the stairs and looked at everyone quietly sitting in the living room.

He went straight to sit beside Mother Lu, his gaze sharp as he looked at Gu Yihan.

Mother Lu was about to speak, but Father Lu tightly held her hand and gently shook his head, signaling her not to say anything.

The children were all grown up now. Each had their own thoughts and could not be expected to live according to their parents’ wishes.

Gu Yihan looked up and froze when she met Lu Huaixu’s gaze.

What’s wrong with him? Had she offended him in any way? Why was he looking at her like that?

Angry, Gu Yihan suddenly stood up and said coldly, “Big Brother, what do you mean by this?”

Lu Huaixu’s eyes were full of anger: “What, I’ve already followed sister-in-law’s wishes and sent Fang Yi back to her parents’ home. Are you still not satisfied? Do you want Miaomiao to make way for you too?”

Lu Huailin snorted coldly at this, reaching out to tug his wife’s arm, signaling her not to speak.

He slowly stood, gently pressing Gu Yihan back onto the sofa, his voice soft: “Wife, you’re still pregnant. You can’t get angry.”

After calming Gu Yihan down, Lu Huailin’s eyes darkened as he looked at Lu Huaixu.

He sneered: “So, just because sister-in-law was sent home, you blame us for your own incompetence? Don’t you think that’s ridiculous?”

Lu Huaixu rubbed his throbbing head, glanced at their silent parents, and at Lu Huailin, whose expression was grim.

These past few days, he had been overwhelmed by trivial family matters. He knew he had vented his frustration unfairly and had no grudge against Gu Yihan.

“Sister-in-law, I’m sorry. I couldn’t control my emotions.”

Gu Yihan said nothing. Why should a half-hearted apology make her forgive him?

Lu Huailin snorted: “I hope you can control your emotions, Big Brother, and not drag others into it for no reason.”

Mother Lu couldn’t hold back and slapped her eldest son’s arm: “It was my idea to have you send your wife home this morning. She tends to speak her mind, so letting her go home for a few days is for her own good.”

Lu Huaixu rubbed his face hard and looked at Mother Lu.

He made a face worse than crying: “I know Mom means well, but Miaomiao is still small. No matter how flawed Fang Yi is, she genuinely cares about the child. Even for Miaomiao, I could never divorce lightly.”

Father Lu glanced at Mother Lu, who seemed hesitant to speak. He knew she didn’t want her son to divorce either—she just wanted to temper Fang Yi’s temper.

But in daily life, good or bad, parents shouldn’t meddle too much; otherwise, they’ll just be blamed later.

Lu Huailin wasn’t so easily swayed like Mother Lu: “Big Brother, you keep saying it’s for the child’s sake. How come you don’t worry about the child being spoiled?”

Lu Huaixu’s eyes were tired. He didn’t want to argue with Lu Huailin—winning or losing didn’t matter.

It would only weaken the bond between the two brothers.

Did he want Miaomiao to stay at Fang Yi’s parents’ house? Of course—there was no one at home to take care of the child.

Father and Mother Lu were both still working and busy; the child could only be sent to Fang Yi’s family.

Lu Huaixu glanced at Gu Yihan’s belly and said: “Once Sister-in-law has the baby, You’ll understand my difficulties. Every household has its struggles.”

He didn’t believe that once Gu Yihan gave birth, if there was no one to help with the baby, Lu Huailin would still be able to focus all his attention on his wife.

Just as Lu Huailin was about to speak, Gu Yihan’s stomach growled in protest: “Gurgle gurgle.”

Gu Yihan felt embarrassed—she still hadn’t had breakfast.

Mother Lu noticed and looked at Gu Yihan with concern: “See, all this anger this morning has made you all confused. No one’s eaten breakfast yet.”

She ran to the kitchen to start making breakfast, and Gu Yihan, not wanting her to work alone, got up to help.

Mother Lu was kneading dough and, hearing the movement, turned to see her youngest daughter-in-law.

While working, she said: “Xiaohan, I know I’ve put you in a difficult spot.”

Gu Yihan pinched a small piece of dough from the basin and kneaded it.

Smiling at Mother Lu: “Mom, you don’t have to say it so formally.”

“Where’s Aunt He?” Gu Yihan asked curiously.

Mother Lu judged the dough was ready and picked up the rolling pin: “It’s not New Year today, she went home to spend time with her family.”

Gu Yihan nodded lightly.

In the Living Room, Father Lu looked at his two sons with a serious expression and sighed deeply. Children grow up and can’t be controlled: “You’re both married now. You have your own ideas.”

Lu Huaixu and Lu Huailin glanced at each other, then both looked at Father Lu.

Father Lu’s gaze locked on Lu Huaixu as he spoke coldly: “Lin Xu, hasn’t your factory already assigned you a house? After the New Year, move into your own house.”

Lu Huaixu stared in disbelief, hardly able to believe his ears: “Dad, you mean you’re making me move out? I still have to take care of you in your old age. I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving Mom behind.”

Father Lu’s gaze was sharp, but his words casual: “Taking care of us in our old age? You’re not qualified. Your mother and I will have the state to provide for us.”

Lu Huaixu: “……”

Father Lu then turned his gaze to Lu Huailin. That lucky kid found a wife who wouldn’t be a burden.

He knew the youngest daughter-in-law’s grandmother was in Kun City, so when the baby arrived, there would be help.

They wouldn’t be overwhelmed and let it affect their marriage.

Lu Huaixu probably hoped to see the youngest one fail—but he’d be disappointed.

Lu Huailin felt uneasy under Father Lu’s stare: “Dad, what kind of look is that? Say what you mean.”

Father Lu glared at Lu Huailin and snorted: “Huailin, you should have heard what I said.”

Lu Huailin, exasperated, replied perfunctorily: “Yes, I heard.”

Father Lu didn’t care about his tone: “Once your eldest brother moves out, it’s basically a separation of the household.”

Lu Huailin nodded.

Father Lu fixed his gaze on both sons: “The family savings won’t be divided.”

Lu Huailin casually agreed: “That’s your own savings.”

Lu Huaixu froze for a moment, which Father Lu noticed.

Father Lu snorted coldly: “You both have savings. Everything due after marriage has already been given.”

Lu Huaixu thought of the box Mother Lu gave to Fang Yi, which he had never looked inside.

He glanced at Lu Huailin and then met Father Lu’s emotionless gaze, hesitating to speak.

Father Lu frowned and asked impatiently: “If you have something to say, just say it.”

Finally, Lu Huaixu asked: “Dad, is what Mom gave me the same as what she gave my sister-in-law?”

This angered Lu Huailin. He grabbed Lu Huaixu’s collar: “What do you mean? Saying Mom is biased?”

Lu Huaixu pushed him away and explained: “You misunderstood. I just want to know what’s in the box.”

Lu Huailin let go, staring at Lu Huaixu like he was an idiot. Ten years have passed, and he still didn’t know what was in the family’s possessions.

Father Lu, seeing the two sons, knew Lu Huaixu probably hadn’t seen anything.

“It’s the same. The box contains what you’re entitled to in this household.”

Father Lu even listed everything in the box.

The more Lu Huaixu listened, the more the veins in his clenched fists bulged.
