“Feng Qiancheng.”

Xiao Jinghan spoke coldly.

He wanted to see exactly why Feng Qiancheng had called Feng Jinge back.

From the gates of the Feng residence to the front hall took about the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea.

Just as Xiao Jinghan stepped into the courtyard of the front hall, a wailing, ghost-like cry reached his ears.

“Master, you must stand up for me!”

“Yunxiao said the only reason she offended the Regent Prince was because of Feng Jinge!”

“It was Feng Jinge who added fuel to the fire in the Prince’s ear, which enraged him and led to everything that followed!”

“That whole table of dishes—if I hadn’t gone to help, Yunxiao alone wouldn’t have been able to finish it even in three days and nights!”

“Yunxiao has always been your precious darling, Master…”

“And that food—after sitting for two days, it already smelled bad, I—”

Feng Qiancheng, irritated by the noise, slammed his hand on the table and roared, “Enough!”

Startled by the shout, Chen Jinfeng looked at him with tear-filled eyes.

“Tsk tsk, as the saying goes, like mother, like daughter.”

“Seeing it today, it truly lives up to the saying.”

The sudden mocking voice made both Feng Qiancheng and Chen Jinfeng freeze.

They instinctively turned toward the entrance.

When they saw “Feng Jinge” walking in side by side with a strange man, Feng Qiancheng’s face immediately darkened.

Chen Jinfeng’s eyes flickered with a calculating gleam as she looked at Feng Jinge, dressed in fine clothes and adorned with hairpins.

So this little wretch has been living quite comfortably in the Regent Prince’s residence.

Her once gaunt face has even filled out.

And those hairpins—must be worth quite a bit of silver.

Chen Jinfeng’s gaze shifted to Su Xiu.

From his attire, she could tell he was wealthy.

Her brows furrowed, and she said coldly, “Feng Jinge, as the eldest daughter of the Feng family, walking side by side with a strange man—where is the family’s dignity?”

Su Xiu closed his folding fan. “Let me clarify—this young master was entrusted by the Regent Prince to accompany Miss Feng back home.”

“Back home?”

Feng Qiancheng frowned deeply, his displeased gaze landing on Feng Jinge.

“What did you come back for?”

Chen Jinfeng’s heart tightened.

It was she who had summoned Feng Jinge back in Feng Qiancheng’s name.

She had intended to bring Feng Jinge back to teach her a lesson—but who would have thought Feng Jinge would return so quickly and run straight into Feng Qiancheng?

Sensing something off, Xiao Jinghan asked coldly, “Wasn’t it you who called me back?”

Feng Qiancheng was stunned for a moment before anger surged. “When did I ever call you back?”

Xiao Jinghan’s gaze darkened as he glanced toward Chen Jinfeng.

The only one who could summon Feng Jinge in Feng Qiancheng’s name was her.

Now it seemed that even the three people at the gate had been arranged by her.

Inner courtyards and imperial harems alike were filled with endless schemes.

He had never imagined that one day he would become a woman and be dragged into such petty conflicts.

As Regent Prince, he was long accustomed to intrigue and deception.

But these kinds of women’s quarrels—he disdained them and found them tiresome.

Yet now that he was Feng Jinge, these parasites had to be removed.

“Tsk…”

Su Xiu clicked his tongue, frowning. “Now that’s strange.”

“The reason Miss Feng and I came back is because someone went to the Prince’s residence and said that Minister Feng requested Miss Feng to return. If she didn’t, she would bear the consequences.”

Feng Qiancheng’s frown deepened further.

With everything happening because of Feng Yunxiao recently, he had been avoiding the Regent Prince’s residence—why would he go looking for trouble?

Seeing his reaction, Su Xiu knew Feng Qiancheng wasn’t lying.

His gaze shifted to Chen Jinfeng beside him.

Feeling his stare, her eyes flickered, clearly avoiding it.

In an instant, Su Xiu understood.

The smile on his lips deepened as his gaze casually swept over her face. “Could it be someone impersonated a member of the Feng household?”

Chen Jinfeng’s heart leapt into her throat.

Su Xiu pressed further, “Minister Feng, are you sure you didn’t—”

Before he could finish, Feng Qiancheng turned to Chen Jinfeng.

“Was it you who called Jingge back?”

Caught off guard, Chen Jinfeng faltered.

“Mas—”

Under the combined gazes of Xiao Jinghan and Su Xiu, she had no choice but to admit it.

Feng Qiancheng was furious, but with Feng Jinge and Su Xiu present, he couldn’t lash out. He could only glare fiercely at Chen Jinfeng.

That single glare made her snap.

“Master, why are you glaring at me? Yunxiao ate leftovers for three days—all because of Feng Jinge!”

“As the eldest daughter of the Feng family, not only does she not protect her siblings, she even harms her own sister!”

“Harm?” Xiao Jinghan narrowed his eyes. “Now I see where Feng Yunxiao learned her ability to twist the truth.”

“With a mother who likes to turn black into white, it would be strange if the daughter didn’t learn it.”

“That day at Xinghua Pavilion, there were plenty of witnesses. A simple investigation would reveal exactly what happened.”

“Concubine Chen, if you want to play the fool, don’t assume everyone else is one too.”

“If you dare keep slandering me, I wouldn’t mind truly whispering a few words in the Prince’s ear.”

“When that time comes, if Feng Yunxiao loses her life, it won’t be my responsibility.”

Though Xiao Jinghan spoke lightly, every word carried a sharp threat.

Chen Jinfeng had never imagined that one day she would be threatened by Feng Jinge, this “little wretch.”

Her chest heaved with rage as she gritted her teeth. “Feng Jinge, you’re nothing more than a dog by the Regent Prince’s side. Do you really think you’re someone important?”

“Who knows—one day the Prince might get angry and cut you down with a single strike!”

“And when that happens, won’t you come crawling back to the Feng family, begging the Master to take you in?”

Xiao Jinghan remained expressionless, casting her an icy glance. “What the Regent Prince does is none of your concern. But if you doubt my words, feel free to try.”

With that, he turned and left.

“Minister Feng,” Su Xiu called out.

Feng Qiancheng paused, his face dark as the bottom of a pot, and looked at him in confusion.

Su Xiu said lightly, “When the household is in chaos, one’s official career cannot remain stable.”

With that, he turned and followed Xiao Jinghan out of the front hall.

Feng Qiancheng’s face grew even darker. He glared viciously at Chen Jinfeng. “Look at the mess you’ve made!”

Chen Jinfeng looked aggrieved. “Master, I didn’t do anything! Feng Jinge bullied Yunxiao like that—how could I just stand by and watch…”

“Shut up!”

Feng Qiancheng wasn’t a fool. He could tell truth from lies.

It was just that he didn’t like Feng Jinge either.

Meanwhile, Xiao Jinghan did not leave the residence immediately.

Using the excuse of returning to his courtyard to retrieve something, he brought Su Xiu to the pond where the drowning incident had occurred that day.
