Xiao Jinghan remained silent, his cold gaze fixed on the suddenly “kind-hearted” Second Miss of the Feng family—Feng Mingyue.
Hearing Feng Mingyue speak up for them, the three servants were so moved they nearly burst into tears.
With teary eyes, they looked at her, voices trembling. “Se… Second Miss…”
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here,” Feng Mingyue softly reassured them before turning to question, “Feng Jinge—”
“Elder Sister, no matter what, they are still servants of our household. Normally—”
Before she could finish, Xiao Jinghan coldly cut her off with three words: “Report it to the authorities.”
The moment the three servants heard those words, they completely panicked.
They all knew clearly—if this matter really reached the yamen, there would be only one outcome for them: death.
Feng Mingyue was stunned. “Report it? Report what exactly?”
Ignoring her, Xiao Jinghan turned to Qing Shan. “Qing Shan, make a trip to the yamen.”
Feng Mingyue followed his gaze and froze again upon seeing Qing Shan dressed as a guard.
Isn’t that the Regent Prince’s guard?
Xiao Jinghan continued, “Ask what crime it is, according to current law, for a servant to insult their master.”
“Your High—”
Qing Shan instinctively began to address him as “Prince.”
Seeing trouble coming, Su Xiu quickly jumped out of the carriage and cut him off in time.
“Miss Feng, I know.”
Su Xiu’s sudden appearance drew everyone’s attention.
Feng Mingyue stared at him, momentarily dazed. Who is this man?
Standing atop the carriage, Su Xiu looked toward Xiao Jinghan and said slowly, “Insubordination—punishable by death.”
“Oh~”
Xiao Jinghan responded thoughtfully, his gaze sweeping over the three servants before him.
The three immediately sensed danger and instinctively tried to flee.
But Xiao Jinghan suddenly reached out, grabbing the nearest one by the collar.
A crisp crack echoed—his neck was snapped.
The body collapsed heavily to the ground, eyes bulging, dead with a look of terror.
Having never witnessed killing before, Feng Mingyue’s face turned deathly pale, her delicate body trembling.
The remaining two servants were so frightened their legs gave out. Unable to run, they begged Feng Mingyue for help. “Second Miss, save—”
Before they could finish, Xiao Jinghan kicked one away, killing him instantly.
The last servant was so terrified he wet himself, frantically kowtowing toward Xiao Jinghan.
“Eldest Miss, I was wrong! I shouldn’t have insulted you, I—”
Xiao Jinghan glanced at him and lifted his foot—
The man’s eyes rolled back, and he fainted from sheer terror.
Xiao Jinghan slowly lowered his foot and called, “Qing Shan.”
Qing Shan appeared in a flash. “Miss Feng, your orders?”
Xiao Jinghan cast a cold glance at the unconscious servant. “Take him to the yamen and report everything that just happened.”
“Yes.”
Qing Shan responded, hoisted the man up, and disappeared.
Xiao Jinghan stepped forward. After a few steps, he seemed to recall something and turned back, glancing at Feng Mingyue, who looked ashen as death.
“Remember to burn some paper for them. If they know in the afterlife, they’ll surely thank you properly, Second Miss.”
“After all, if not for your false accusation, I wouldn’t have killed them.”
“……”
His words were like a blade, stabbing straight into Feng Mingyue’s chest.
Her already pale face turned even whiter—almost translucent.
She slowly lifted her eyes to look at “Feng Jinge.”
But Xiao Jinghan had already withdrawn his gaze and walked toward the Feng residence.
Su Xiu strolled up to Feng Mingyue, fanning himself, covering half his face with the fan as he smiled.
“Little girl, next time you try to pin blame on someone, make sure you understand the situation first.”
The maid at her side could no longer endure it.
It was one thing for her young lady to be humiliated by Feng Jinge—but now a stranger had also come to lecture her!
If she didn’t speak up now, wouldn’t just anyone be able to bully her mistress?
The maid stepped forward and angrily rebuked Su Xiu. “Who do you think you are? How dare you speak to my lady like that?!”
Su Xiu narrowed his phoenix eyes with a smile. “Tsk, the dog’s biting out of desperation?”
Is he calling Miss a dog?!
“You—”
The maid pointed at him.
Feng Mingyue raised her hand and pulled it down, forcing a smile that looked worse than crying.
“Sir, this matter was my fault. Judging by your appearance, are you a friend of my elder sister?”
Su Xiu caught the probing tone in her words and raised a brow.
“I was entrusted by the Prince to escort Miss Feng back to her residence.”
Feng Mingyue lowered her gaze. “So that’s how it is.”
Then she looked up again. “Then please trouble yourself to pass on my apology to Elder Sister. Today’s matter was my—”
Su Xiu, well-traveled and experienced, had seen all kinds of women.
Someone like Feng Mingyue—two-faced—he had seen plenty.
He cut her off with a smile. “If you truly want to apologize, do it yourself. I don’t have time to do it for you.”
With that, he waved his fan and turned away.
Feng Mingyue instantly realized she had been toyed with by this man.
Anger surged within her, her teeth clenched tight.
Just then, her personal maid Zhuqing spoke up.
“This… Miss! He’s clearly making a fool of you—”
Already furious, Feng Mingyue’s anger skyrocketed upon hearing Zhuqing’s “clever” remark.
She reached out and pinched Zhuqing’s arm hard.
“Ah—”
Zhuqing cried out in pain but was immediately silenced.
“Dare to scream and see what happens!”
Zhuqing could only endure it.
“So you think you’re clever? You think I couldn’t tell he was mocking me?!”
“Miss, I was wrong…” Zhuqing begged softly.
Meanwhile, as Xiao Jinghan and Su Xiu entered the Feng residence, someone immediately approached them.
“Eldest Miss, the Master has been waiting for you in the front hall for quite some time. Please follow me.”
After speaking, the man turned and walked away.
Su Xiu waved his fan and glanced sideways at Xiao Jinghan with a smile.
Xiao Jinghan’s face remained cold as he turned in the opposite direction.
But just as he did, five or six burly men suddenly appeared, surrounding him and Su Xiu.
Hearing the commotion, the man turned back and looked at them, now encircled.
“Please don’t make things difficult for me, Eldest Miss.”
“This way, please.”
Two of the men stepped aside, opening a path.
Xiao Jinghan’s eyes darkened.
Before he could speak, Su Xiu let out a mocking laugh.
“The Feng family’s way of treating guests is certainly… unique.”
The man’s gaze fell on Su Xiu, sizing him up, seemingly trying to determine his relationship with Feng Jinge.
“Let’s go,” Xiao Jinghan said coldly.
Su Xiu pretended to ask, “Go where? Back to your quarters?”
“Or to see Feng Qiancheng?”
Hearing Su Xiu directly call their master by name, the man’s expression immediately changed.
