After being shaken, frightened, and mentally battered by all kinds of stimulation, I finally blurted out something I absolutely shouldn’t have said:
“Um… you’re happy now, right? So… can I leave now?”
Aaaaah—
Under the round moon, White Hair transformed…
White Hair said nothing. The light shimmering in his eyes instantly turned cold. He curled his lips into a sinister grin, revealing snow-white fangs. Killing intent rushed toward me like a wave… Clouds drifted past and dragged the moon into the grass as if committing some unspeakable crime… Suddenly, I realized the thing sitting across from me wasn’t human at all—it was a huge nocturnal wild beast, and unfortunately, it was in hunting mode…
What is a weak animal’s first reaction to danger?
Run!
Without hesitation, I clamped my legs around my horse’s belly and fled in blind panic!
I didn’t know the road, didn’t know where I was. I just shut my eyes tight, clutched the reins, and let the lousy horse run wherever it wanted. The wind howled past my ears. Hoofbeats behind me grew closer and closer. In the blink of an eye, White Hair had caught up, riding Yedao!
What made it worse was that I was tense and exhausted, muscles aching, while he wasn’t even breathing hard—completely relaxed, not even twitching an eyebrow—calmly riding alongside me. Then he reached out and scooped me straight onto his horse!
(Imagine grabbing a living person off another speeding motorcycle—terrifying!)
“Running, huh?”
He laid me sideways across Yedao’s back.
“If you’re going to run, at least do it properly! Today I’ll show you what real running is!”
He squeezed his legs, and Yedao shot forward like lightning!
“Aaaaah! Put me down!!!”
I was hanging upside down on the saddle!
All the blood rushed to my head. Compared to that, breathing trouble and nausea were nothing. My eyes felt like they were about to pop out. My face must’ve been purple like liver paste. I completely forgot everything except pounding on Yedao and screaming for help.
“Help! I’m going to get a brain hemorrhage! Cerebellum rupture! Brainstem explosion! Become a vegetable! Dementia! I—I can’t breathe! My eyeballs are falling out! I’m going to die!!!”
That damned White Hair burst out laughing and rode even faster.
So angry, I started cursing him with every insult imaginable—his ancestors, unborn descendants, and even wishing he’d be assaulted and murdered by the ugliest woman in the world…
Finally, I really couldn’t breathe anymore. Tears streamed down as I lay on the horse.
White Hair finally grew a conscience. He stopped, pulled me up, wrapped me in his arms, and laughed:
“Still want to run?”
“Run! Of course I do! Why would I stay and let you abuse me?!”
“Waaah… n-no more running…” I sniffled.
Satisfied, he wiped my tears and hugged me as he rode back.
At this point, complaining that he’d broken his promise was useless. Guo’er was still waiting for me. We’d wasted most of the night already. I was anxious beyond words. On top of that, my stomach was churning after that torture.
Noticing my discomfort, White Hair stopped.
“What’s wrong?”
“I… I want to throw up…”
Seeing how pale I was, he softened his grip and voice.
“Hold on. I’ll take you somewhere open to rest.”
Unexpectedly, there was a huge lake in the wilderness. Moonlight shimmered on the water.
But I had no mood to admire it.
He helped me down and leaned me against a tree. I still couldn’t throw up and felt worse, so I asked to go near the lake.
Sitting on a mossy rock, breathing the cool air, I finally felt better. My head cleared—and I immediately started planning my escape.
Just then he called out:
“Feeling better? Let’s go.”
Reluctantly, I stood up—then slipped straight into the lake!
Splash!
It was deep, and I sank. The water was clean and cool—quite comfortable. I swam around a bit and surfaced.
Then I saw White Hair squatting anxiously on the shore.
Seeing his worried face, I suddenly felt vengeful.
I pretended to panic and screamed for help.
He panicked, threw me his whip.
“Grab it! I’ll pull you up!”
I deliberately avoided it. After several failed tries, I drifted farther away.
His brows knitted tighter.
I seized the moment and sank.
Come on, jump in!
Sure enough, he dove in.
But his movements were stiff… clumsy…
Wait—was he bad at swimming?!
Turns out he was.
He struggled to reach me and dragged me back, but soon started sinking. Before going under, he shoved me forward with all his strength.
I froze.
His silver hair drifted in the water…
Now was the perfect chance to escape.
But… he jumped in to save me.
I couldn’t just let him die.
Damn it!
I turned and swam toward him.
We lay exhausted and soaked on the shore.
I stared at the sky, panting and regretting everything.
I’d ruined my own escape.
“What’s your name?” he asked hoarsely.
“I’m… Zhao Minmin.”
“And you?”
“My name is Luan. King of the Wind-Chasing Tribe.”
Luan… pretty cool.
“You saved my life. We repay our debts. What do you want?”
“I want… you to let me go.”
He looked disappointed.
“That’s not a request.”
“Then… promise to help me once in the future.”
“…Alright.”
“Give me a token.”
He smiled wickedly—and pinned me down.
“Hey! What are you doing?! Let go!”
He bit my shoulder.
“Ow!!!”
A row of teeth marks appeared.
“That way, I’ll recognize you.”
That bastard did it on purpose!
I glared at him tearfully.
“Go. If you keep looking like that, you’re not leaving.”
I jumped on my horse and fled.
We will meet again, Zhao Minmin…
Luan watched with sharp golden eyes.
After resting, I reached Ren City by noon.
At the camp gate, I was stopped.
“No outsiders allowed!”
“I want to see the Fourth Prince!”
“You think you can just see him?”
They shoved me down.
Angry, I forced my way in—knocking out guards and taking hostages.
Eventually, I was surrounded.
“I surrender.”
They threw me in jail.
That was my plan.
Make noise so Fox would notice me.
Inside the Command Tent
Generals stood in rows.
The Fourth Prince worked calmly.
General Han urged attack.
The prince replied coldly:
“Loyalty… used in the wrong place.”
Then chaos outside.
“A woman named Zhao Minmin broke in.”
Crash!
His pen fell.
Shock.
Joy.
“Where is she?!”
“In prison.”
He rushed out.
“Did you hurt her?!”
“No! Not a hair!”
Prison
Footsteps.
Door opens.
Fox stood in the light.
“M-Minmin?”
“Yo~”
Before I finished, he rushed over and hugged me tightly.
So tight it hurt.
“It’s really you… You’re alive…”
