Hearing this, the two children finally relaxed. They had already been mentally prepared to be kicked out.

But they hadn’t expected Ye Tian to be this capable.

With just a single sentence, he made the arrogant waiter become so respectful?

Ye Shuangxue slightly raised her head to look at Ye Tian’s side profile. She resembled him a lot—high nose bridge, well-shaped chin. Looking at him this way, he was actually quite handsome.

She pressed her lips together softly.

From beginning to end, Xiao Jiang didn’t dare lift his head. Only after they sat down did he cautiously glance around, his expression like a little mouse—both startled and pleasantly surprised.

“What’s this?”

Ye Shuangxue asked curiously in a low voice.

Xiao Jiang, sitting beside her, whispered, “Don’t touch things randomly. Haven’t you noticed everyone is secretly looking at us?”

“Hmph!” Ye Shuangxue snorted dismissively. She pulled the bamboo condiment container closer and curiously poked and examined it with her small hands.

“What would you like to eat, dear customer?”

The waiter bowed and nodded, picking up the teapot on the table and first pouring Ye Tian a full cup of tea. Ye Tian then looked at Ye Shuangxue and Xiao Jiang.

“What do you want to eat?”

Xiao Jiang’s little face turned red. Lowering his head, he said softly, “Do they have meat buns?”

The most expensive food he could think of was the big meat buns Ye Tian had bought before.

As soon as he said that, a few snickers came from nearby.

The waiter looked at Ye Tian with an awkward expression. Ye Shuangxue angrily turned her head and shot a sharp glance at the group of adult men behind them. The men quickly lowered their heads and continued eating.

She pointed to a table not far away. “What’s that?”

“Crispy roast duck,” the waiter quickly replied.

“We’ll have that,” Ye Tian said.

“And two jin of braised beef. Do you have noodle soup?”

In such cold weather, something with broth would be warming, Ye Tian thought as he looked at the waiter.

“Yes, we do. We have plain noodles, beef noodles, and clear soup noodles.”

“Then beef noodles,” Ye Tian interrupted before the waiter could finish.

“I want plain noodles,” Ye Shuangxue quickly added.

“I want plain noodles too.”

“Alright!”

After taking the order, the waiter called it out and left. The three—Ye Tian and the two children—sat in the corner. Xiao Jiang looked restrained, while Ye Shuangxue remained on guard. For the two of them, eating out felt like going into battle.

As for why Ye Shuangxue urgently chose plain noodles—first, because the name sounded nice; second, it was the only one she could remember, afraid the waiter might ask again and she wouldn’t recall it.

“Have some tea first to warm your stomach,” Ye Tian said, pushing his cup toward his daughter, then pouring another cup for Xiao Jiang.

Xiao Jiang held the cup with both hands, looking at it again and again. He leaned closer to the rising steam, took a sniff, and his face lit up with delight.

“It smells so good!”

“Does this cost money?”

“No.”

Ye Tian smiled. Hearing that it was free, the little boy’s eyes lit up. He quickly took a big sip. As soon as the tea went down, Xiao Jiang frowned.

“Why is it bitter? It doesn’t taste good.”

His lips glistened as he stuck out his tongue.

Ye Shuangxue didn’t believe him and took a sip as well, stubbornly saying, “It’s not bitter at all.”

Her face expressionless, she drank a whole cup just to prove her point. Ye Tian wanted to laugh but didn’t say anything.

After drinking some tea and settling down, the two children finally began to relax.

Xiao Jiang curiously looked around, seeming deep in thought.

Noticing Ye Tian looking at him, Xiao Jiang hesitated for a moment before saying: “This restaurant isn’t doing much business… it’s probably related to the food they’re selling.”

Xiao Jiang glanced around, then looked at Ye Tian, his little face serious. Ye Tian, intrigued, asked, “Go on, tell me.”

“Look, their tables are full of stir-fried dishes, and there’s very little noodle soup. Our weather is cold—by the time customers start eating, the food will freeze. Plus, their tea tastes worse than the plain soup sold outside with buns. Business is definitely bad,” Xiao Jiang said quietly.

Ye Tian nodded in agreement. “As expected of my son—well done.”

“How about we open a restaurant too? You can manage it, and I’ll give you a monthly allowance. How does that sound?”

“Me, manage it?”

Xiao Jiang quickly waved his hand. “No way! I don’t know anything.”

“Even if you can’t, there’s me, right?”

Ye Tian patted Xiao Jiang on the shoulder, feeling delighted. Xiao Jiang was truly destined to be the richest person in the world—at just five years old, he already had unique observation skills and business thinking. If Ye Tian could get Xiao Jiang to work for him, how could he fail to make money in this lifetime?

And Xiao Jiang wasn’t wrong—Sifang City’s temperatures were like the northern regions of his previous life. Wouldn’t a hot pot or stew be perfect in such a place?

Opening a hot pot restaurant would almost certainly succeed.

“And me?”

“And me?”

Ye Shuangxue quickly looked at Ye Tian, her big eyes sparkling, her little face full of anticipation, waiting for Ye Tian to entrust her with an important task.

Ye Tian stretched out his big hand and gently pressed Ye Shuangxue back into her seat. “Just wait and eat.”

“Hmph!”

Ye Shuangxue’s little face darkened, and she turned away, refusing to look at Ye Tian. Moments later, however, she was grinning mischievously as she poured tea into Ye Tian’s cup.

“Noodles are here!”

The waiter called out, bringing two steaming bowls of plain noodles.

“Wow…”

Ye Shuangxue held her chopsticks tightly, staring at the steaming noodles in front of her, eyes shining. She inhaled the aroma deeply and closed her eyes in satisfaction. “So fragrant.”

“There’s an egg on top, some greens, and plain noodles… am I dreaming?”

The little girl stared at the vibrant colors in her bowl, so excited she almost cried.

Xiao Jiang’s cheeks were flushed as he looked at the steaming noodles and then turned to glance at Ye Tian. Ye Tian smiled. “Go ahead and eat. If it’s not enough, you can have another bowl.”

“Eat slowly, don’t burn yourselves.”

Seeing Ye Tian watching her, Ye Shuangxue thought about piercing the poached egg with her chopsticks to feed him.

Ye Tian waved his hand. “You eat. I don’t like eggs.”

The two children exchanged a glance, then ignored Ye Tian entirely. Neither was very skilled with chopsticks. If the noodles hadn’t been so hot, they probably would have grabbed them with their hands. They devoured the noodles messily, soup spilling all over their faces. By the time the beef noodles arrived, the two had already finished one bowl.

“Another bowl?”

Ye Tian looked at the two of them, feeling even more guilty. Such hot noodles, and these two kids who didn’t know how to use chopsticks, had finished a large bowl in less than three minutes. How long had it been since they’d been full?

The waiter looked awkwardly at the two children, then at Ye Tian. “Sir, children eating too much can cause indigestion. This large bowl is already an adult portion.”

Ye Tian’s face warmed. He had no experience raising kids at all—he was even worse than a stranger. He hurriedly said, “Thank you.”

“Crispy roast duck is here!”

“Two pounds of braised beef!”

Ye Shuangxue was completely mesmerized by the waiter’s calls. She clutched her round belly, staring at the golden, glossy crispy roast duck, drooling uncontrollably. She had thought plain noodles were unbeatable, but in front of the roast duck, they were nothing.

Crunch.

Ye Tian took a bite, and the duck, crispy on the outside and tender inside, crackled delightfully.

Seeing Ye Tian’s face full of bliss, Ye Shuangxue swallowed hard. “It doesn’t taste bad, does it?”
