Seeing that Ling Yu intended to keep gambling, the dealer finally couldn’t sit still. He shot a meaningful glance at a man standing in the crowd.
The man nodded, quietly slipped out, and hurried upstairs.
Tang Wan noticed the exchange and leaned close to Ling Yu, whispering,
“The wind’s turning bad… should we retreat?”
Ling Yu glanced at her calmly.
“You’re scared?”
“…Not scared, just—”
Then Tang Wan suddenly understood.
“Wait… we came here to smash the place?”
Ling Yu gave a faint nod.
“If we don’t stir things up, how will Master Jin show himself?”
So that was the plan!
Tang Wan immediately became excited again. She watched the dealer shaking the dice and whispered,
“What are we betting this time?”
Not only her—every gambler at the table stared expectantly at Ling Yu. Even after the dealer stopped shaking the dice, no one placed a bet.
Ling Yu smiled slightly and pushed all the money onto Big.
Instantly, the gamblers followed him in a rush.
Within moments, the “Big” side was piled high with silver, while “Small” and “Leopard” sat completely empty.
The dealer glared viciously at Ling Yu before lifting the dice cup.
“Four, five, six—Big! Hahaha!”
“I won again! I’m rich!”
“Brother, you’re incredible! You get it right every time! Taking disciples?”
The gamblers chattered excitedly as they dragged their winnings toward themselves.
Tang Wan looked at the mountain of money before her, grinning like a happy little mouse.
Gambling really was one of the fastest ways to get rich!
Just a few rounds earlier, they’d started with one hundred taels—now it had multiplied again and again, already exceeding twenty thousand taels.
Husband is amazing!
Long live husband!
“Husband, where are we betting next?” Tang Wan asked excitedly while hugging the pile of silver.
Ling Yu didn’t answer.
Instead, his gaze shifted toward a man walking down from the upper floor.
The man looked to be just over twenty. He wore a jade-green brocade robe, a pale green jade pendant hanging at his waist, and carried a birdcage. Inside, a thrush hopped up and down as he teased it leisurely.
A trace of warmth flashed briefly in Ling Yu’s eyes.
Compared to the face in his memories, the young man looked slightly more youthful, though his long peach-blossom eyes remained the same—always appearing affectionate no matter whom he looked at.
“Master Jin!” the dealer bowed respectfully as soon as he saw him.
The gamblers froze for a moment—then scattered like birds.
Master Jin had arrived. Things were getting serious.
They had already won money, so it was best to leave quickly.
Master Jin ignored the fleeing crowd and looked at Ling Yu with a half-smile.
“Well now, young sir, you’re quite handsome.”
Ling Yu smiled politely.
“You flatter me. You’re not bad yourself.”
“Heh…” Master Jin laughed in irritation. He handed the birdcage to one of his thugs before speaking again.
“Kid, flattering me won’t help. Do you know what happens to people who cheat in my gambling house?”
“Cheat?” Ling Yu raised an eyebrow. “Your men shake the dice, your men run the table—how exactly would I cheat? Why don’t you teach me? I’d love to learn.”
Master Jin’s expression immediately turned cold.
One of his lackeys pointed at Ling Yu and shouted,
“If Master Jin says you cheated, then you cheated! Hand over the money you won right now and we might show mercy—only one hand will be cut off. Otherwise, I—”
He didn’t even finish speaking.
Tang Wan had already lost patience.
She strode forward and slapped him hard across the face.
Standing protectively in front of Ling Yu, she flexed her wrist and coldly stared at Master Jin and his men.
“If you can’t afford to lose,” she said sharply,
“then don’t open a gambling house.”
