After that, Tang Wan and Yu Ziqing worked out a series of cooperation plans.
Yu Ziqing would provide the medicinal herbs. As for mass production, they decided to put that off for now and revisit the issue if sales turned out well.
Tang Wan went inside and asked her handsome husband to write down a long list of herbs for her.
Ling Yu listened as she read one name after another. When he finally looked at the list — more than ten pages long — he couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Yu Ziqing.
That guy had practically walked right into Tang Wan’s trap.
Seeing Tang Wan about to leave with the paper, Ling Yu quickly stopped her, his eyes full of conflicting emotions. “You… didn’t really use that slimming medicine, did you?”
“I’m not stupid!” Tang Wan shot him a look and walked off.
Ling Yu froze for a moment, then suddenly chuckled quietly.
He’d been worried for nothing!
Tang Wan would never let herself suffer a loss.
In his previous life, he’d been unable to have children and hadn’t cared much about it. But in this life, he found himself thinking — if there were a little Tang Wan running around, that would be quite something… maybe even worth looking forward to.
After Tang Wan left the house, she handed the herb list to Yu Ziqing. “For now, these will do.”
Yu Ziqing nearly fainted when he saw the densely written list stretching over a dozen pages.
He actually knew a bit about herbs himself. Pointing to one of the names, he demanded, “Lady Ling, I’m cooperating with you sincerely — don’t try to fool me. What do you need musk for? And not just regular musk, but the premium kind? Don’t take me for an idiot.”
Musk was absurdly expensive — the premium grade even more so.
Yu Ziqing suspected Tang Wan was fleecing him.
And indeed, she was. Many of the herbs on that list were ones she needed for herself, completely unrelated to business.
But of course, Tang Wan wasn’t about to admit that.
With a perfectly puzzled look, she countered, “Didn’t you want the slimming medicine? The musk is for that!”
Yu Ziqing was instantly choked into silence.
Right — she had said that the slimming formula caused infertility.
And musk was known to make women infertile.
Made sense!
Yu Ziqing continued asking about several more ingredients, but Tang Wan explained each one solemnly, bluffing through them all.
When he tried to press her again, Tang Wan lost patience. “If you don’t trust me, we can forget the whole partnership.”
“No, no! Haha… I believe you, alright?”
And so, feeling completely wronged, Yu Ziqing left with the herb list — without even staying for dinner.
Ling Canghe could only laugh and shake his head before taking his leave as well.
Once they were gone, Ling Yue shuffled over step by step, flashing Tang Wan a big smile. “Sister-in-law, about that business deal…”
“If you don’t study, you’re not managing anything,” Tang Wan said with a glance before walking away.
Heh, let’s see how you handle that!
Ling Yue: …
Fine, you win! You win, alright?
“Sister-in-law, my dear sister-in-law…” Ling Yue forced a smile and hurried after her. “I’ll definitely study! How can a girl get by without learning? Tomorrow I’ll start lessons with Sister Yuan Yuan. Now about that business…”
To be allowed to manage the business, Ling Yue was really going all out!
From then on, she didn’t even need Tang Wan’s reminders — every day when she got back, she went straight to Yuan Yuan’s room to study.
Following Tang Wan’s instructions, Yuan Yuan didn’t just teach her reading and writing, but also music, chess, calligraphy, painting, poetry, and literature.
Ling Yue’s days quickly became a kind of elegant torment.
To make it worse, little Ling Chen found the whole thing hilarious.
So Ling Yue turned around and threw him under the bus: “Ling Chen’s almost eight now — shouldn’t we send him to school for proper lessons? Our family’s doing well enough; it’s time he went to the academy.”
Ling Chen stared at his beloved second sister in utter disbelief — it felt like a bolt from the blue.
