If he’d known earlier, he would have married off that unfilial girl long ago.
Ling Sheng lowered his head.
“She’s still young and her temperament unstable. I thought she’d change, so I didn’t say anything at first.”
“You fool!” Ling Canghe was truly furious.
Something like this should never have happened — it was an utter disgrace!
The only small comfort was that Ling Yu and Tang Wan didn’t know about it yet. Otherwise, he’d have completely lost face.
“Go back first. I’ll make arrangements soon. For now, keep an eye on that girl. I’ll return home in a few days.”
Seeing his son’s troubled expression, Ling Canghe couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity.
His son was a good boy — too good, in fact — soft-hearted and sentimental.
He worried about sibling affection, but that unfilial daughter — did she have any such concern?
If she had even the slightest bit of decency, she wouldn’t have behaved so shamelessly.
She was practically dragging the whole family’s reputation through the mud!
At that thought, Ling Canghe even began blaming Ling Yu in his heart.
Why did you have to be born looking like that?!
His second brother was handsome, sure — but not that handsome!
Madam Jiang was beautiful too, but nowhere near Ling Yu’s level!
Who did this brat inherit from anyway?!
If Ling Canghe had lived in the modern day, he’d definitely have cursed aloud:
“Tch! You mutated little rascal — a genetic anomaly!”
Meanwhile, Ling Yu was completely unaware that both father and son were silently blaming him.
A few days ago, Tang Hongba had informed them that the new oven was ready. After that, Tang Wan and Ling Yue had been busy nonstop.
The two women barely had time to sit down. Every night, as soon as Tang Wan came home, she collapsed into bed, barely speaking a few words to him.
No bedtime stories, no sweetly calling him husband anymore!
And then there was Yanyan —
That girl always looked so shy and bashful whenever she spoke to Tang Wan.
Whenever Tang Wan returned, she’d go straight to Yanyan’s room — saying it was to “apply medicine.”
Apply medicine, huh!
Ling Yu’s gaze grew cold as he watched Tang Wan once again walk out of Yanyan’s room.
But Tang Wan didn’t notice. She burned the used gauze from Yanyan’s wounds, then carefully washed her hands.
Most of Yanyan’s sores had already scabbed over. Tang Wan had even started using the facial mask formula she’d developed earlier.
As long as Yanyan kept applying it, the scars would gradually fade — perhaps even vanish completely.
The only thing troubling Tang Wan now was that Yanyan, after her severe illness, was left extremely weak.
If she didn’t nurse her body properly, she’d surely suffer from chronic health problems as she grew older.
Thinking of this, Tang Wan lifted her skirts and headed outside.
She needed to buy some herbs to make tonic soups for Yanyan.
Just then, she heard a sudden noise from the room.
Tang Wan froze, then rushed back in — only to find her beautiful husband fallen to the floor along with his wheelchair. Her heart nearly stopped.
“My beautiful husband!” she cried, hurrying over to lift him up. She carefully set him back on the bed and checked his leg anxiously.
Thankfully, he hadn’t injured it again.
If he’d suffered a second injury, recovery would have been much harder.
“Why did you fall?” she asked, once she was sure he was unharmed — ready to scold him now that the danger had passed.
Ling Yu lowered his gaze. His long lashes trembled faintly before he said in a quiet voice,
“I wanted to try standing up… but I didn’t expect to fall. Wan-niang, will I really get better? Was Doctor Li lying to me?”
Ah, come on — don’t look at me like that!
You’re making me really want to bully you!
Tang Wan swallowed hard, forcing herself to stay composed as she said seriously,
“You’ll recover — trust me!”
“But I still can’t stand,” Ling Yu said bitterly.
Tang Wan replied,
“That’s because you haven’t walked for a long time. The muscles in your legs have atrophied — they can’t support your body weight yet. But your bones are completely healed.”
