Chu Jinhan paused and turned to look at Manager He. “What do you mean?”
Manager He’s old face flushed red. He laughed awkwardly. “Nothing, nothing—just… be careful yourself.”
They played until noon. After an entire morning of golf, the two foreigners were already completely impressed by Chu Jinhan.
The three of them chatted nonstop all morning, leaving everyone else unable to join in and completely sidelined.
At noon, Manager He spent a large sum to treat President Zhao and the two foreigners to a meal.
In the afternoon, the two German clients took the initiative to visit Manager He’s factory, which made him overjoyed.
From their conversation, it wasn’t hard to tell that Chu Jinhan had already won them over. The cooperation deal was practically a done deal.
Manager He asked Chu Jinhan to accompany them around, while he himself rushed back first to have the place cleaned up.
There was no choice—the visit was too sudden. If they had been informed earlier, he wouldn’t have had to hurry back in such a panic to tidy everything up.

After eating her fill at Grandma Chen’s house, Song Yunfei sat on the sofa chatting with the two of them.
The old lady was no longer cold toward her, though she still didn’t talk much.
Song Yunfei added Wanwan as a contact. It was clear that Wanwan was different from that Mr. Wu.
She had a kind heart—working in Huaicheng was just so she could conveniently come back often to take care of her aunt.
Seeing that the old lady still had someone who cared about her made Song Yunfei feel a bit relieved.
If such a kind elderly person ended up spending her later years alone, it would be too pitiful.
Song Yunfei also learned that Wanwan had studied at a university in Haishi—the same one as her, just in a different major. Technically, she was Wanwan’s senior.
However, Wanwan didn’t plan to work in Haishi. This time she came back to take a job in Huaicheng.
Even more coincidentally, she was going to work at Huayue, the largest listed company in the province.
“Senior, I didn’t expect we’d be so fated—to meet someone from the same university in such a small place.”
Wanwan was very happy. Holding Song Yunfei’s hand, she said, “We should keep in touch from now on.”
Song Yunfei smiled. “Sure. I just came here not long ago myself and don’t really know many people.”
Wanwan said excitedly, “Same here! Then from now on, you’re my friend.”
“Mm!”
Song Yunfei was happy too—she had made her first friend in this unfamiliar world.
Wanwan then said with some concern, “Senior, once I start work, I’ll have to trouble you to keep an eye on my aunt. If that Wu Qin comes to bother her, make sure to tell me immediately.”
Song Yunfei nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye out.”
Wanwan let out a sigh of relief and thanked her sincerely again.
Song Yunfei stayed until the afternoon, leaving only when it was almost dark.
After buying groceries and returning home, she took Quanquan out for a walk and to relieve itself, then came back.
As soon as she entered the house, she received a message from Chu Jinhan—he would be having dinner with foreign clients that night and would return very late.
He also reminded her to lock the door and not open it for strangers.
Seeing the message, Song Yunfei muttered to herself—why did it feel like he was treating her like a child?
Since she was eating alone, she didn’t feel like cooking and just boiled some water in the kitchen to make instant noodles.
Sitting at the small table, she thought about what Wu Wei had said. After a couple of bites, she couldn’t eat anymore.
Suddenly, a flash of lightning streaked outside, startling her so much that she dropped the plastic fork into the noodle cup.
She abruptly stood up, grabbed a raincoat and her house keys, and went out.
Song Yunfei took a bus straight to Chu Jinhan’s workplace.
The reason she came here wasn’t just because she remembered him coming home drenched in the rain last time—more importantly, she didn’t dare stay home alone.
If Liu Maocai could find out about Chu Jinhan, he could definitely find out where he lived. If Liu Maocai’s people came directly to the door, she would still be a bit scared.
After getting off the bus, Song Yunfei walked to the entrance of a 24-hour convenience store across from the factory.
At the entrance, there happened to be a row of chairs. Several men and women in factory uniforms were sitting there chatting and scrolling on their phones.
Song Yunfei walked over to the far end and sat down as well, starting to use her phone.
She knew Chu Jinhan had gone out to socialize, but he would definitely return later to ride his electric scooter, so she didn’t call him—she only sent a message asking him to let her know when he got back to the factory.
After sitting for about forty minutes, it started to rain.
However, the rain didn’t last long—it came quickly and left just as fast, stopping within a few minutes.
Summer rain was like this. Sometimes it would rain several times a day, and the temperature wouldn’t drop at all—instead, it often felt even hotter after the rain.
There were quite a lot of people around. The streets were busy with foot traffic, and the fast-food shops along the roadside were packed.
She waited until around eleven or twelve at night, when people in the industrial area were either finishing work or heading out for night shifts.
Song Yunfei had already used up her phone battery, so she rented a power bank and continued using her phone.
It wasn’t until close to 12:30 a.m. that she finally received a message from Chu Jinhan. He had just dropped the clients off at the hotel and was preparing to return to the factory to pick up his electric scooter.
Song Yunfei was delighted and quickly typed: I’m at the convenience store across from your factory.
Chu Jinhan: ?
Song Yunfei sent him a grinning emoji.
Half an hour later, while Song Yunfei was still sitting there scrolling on her phone, she suddenly felt the light above her head being blocked.
She instinctively looked up and saw a tall man standing in front of her.
He was wearing a white shirt and loose jeans, his sleeves rolled up, revealing a section of his arm and his long, slender fingers.
He looked down at her, his gaze sweeping past the raincoat beside her, his deep eyes flickering slightly.
“What are you doing here?”
Song Yunfei gathered the items beside her into her arms and stood up. “I had nothing to do, so I brought you a raincoat. It feels like there’s going to be a heavy rain later.”
Chu Jinhan took the items from her hands and asked again, “How long have you been waiting?”
Song Yunfei smiled. “Not long. I just got here a little while ago.”
Chu Jinhan glanced at the power bank hanging from her phone. It only had one bar left—clearly she hadn’t just arrived.
He didn’t press further. Turning around, he said, “Let’s go back. It’s late.”
“Mm.”
Song Yunfei returned the power bank, then went back to the factory area with him.
They got on the electric scooter and headed toward where they lived.
As expected, before they had gone far, it started raining again.
Song Yunfei tugged at his sleeve. “It’s raining. Pull over and get the raincoat.”
Chu Jinhan complied, stopping the scooter by the roadside. He bent down, took out the raincoat from below, and handed it to Song Yunfei.
He thought she was going to wear it herself, but unexpectedly, after opening it, she placed it over his head.
Chu Jinhan tilted his head to avoid it. “You wear it. I don’t need it.”
Song Yunfei paused. “You’re going to get soaked?”
“The rain will stop soon.”
“Come on, wear it. Don’t catch a cold from the rain.”
Saying that, she put the black raincoat on Chu Jinhan.
Chu Jinhan turned to look at her. “What about you?”
“It’s simple.” Song Yunfei smiled slyly at him, grabbed the raincoat, and slipped inside.
Since it was a single-person raincoat, there was only one hood. The raincoat covered her completely from head to toe.
Gripping his shirt, her voice came from beneath the raincoat. “Isn’t this fine? Let’s go!”
Because she couldn’t be seen, her breath as she spoke passed through the thin fabric, and the sensation of it brushing against his back was unusually distinct.
Chu Jinhan’s fingers on the scooter handle tightened slightly.
