“Then let’s call it ‘Quanquan’.”

“Alright.” Chu Jinhan didn’t object.

Song Yunfei smiled and rubbed the puppy’s head. “From now on, your name is Quanquan. Got it?”

Quanquan didn’t understand her words, only wagging its tail enthusiastically.

Chu Jinhan’s gaze fell on the pair of them.

Song Yunfei lowered her head slightly, a faint smile on her lips. As she softly called the puppy’s name, her usually indifferent expression softened ever so slightly.

The two of them wandered around the area a bit more, but there wasn’t much to see. In the end, they bought two cups of milk tea and headed back.

Chu Jinhan didn’t drink milk tea, so the extra cup ended up in Song Yunfei’s hands.

Back at the hotel, Song Yunfei went to take a shower. She decisively turned off the lights so that nothing could be seen from outside.

After finishing her shower, she lay on the bed scrolling through her phone when someone suddenly added her.

For unknown contacts, she treated them all as potential real estate leads.

She tapped “accept,” and the other person immediately sent two characters: “Hello.”

Song Yunfei replied with a handshake emoji.

Miaomiao: Hello, we met yesterday. My name is Li Miao.

After a moment of suspicion, Song Yunfei thought—surname Li… could this be the woman who was with Li Zhe?

Jinlong Real Estate Xiao Song: Are you the lady who was with Mr. Li at the exhibition yesterday?

Miaomiao: Yes. I didn’t expect Miss Song to remember me [smiling]

Song Yunfei grew more suspicious—where did this person get her contact?

As if sensing her confusion, Li Miao proactively explained: I got your contact from the registration list. I hope I didn’t come across as abrupt, Miss Song.

Song Yunfei quickly replied: Not at all. May I ask what you need?

Miaomiao: We’re running a lucky draw event, and you happened to be selected.

Reading this, Song Yunfei couldn’t help but laugh inwardly—what a clumsy excuse.

She guessed that Li Miao was most likely trying to find out about Chu Jinhan.

However, Li Miao didn’t get straight to the point and instead chatted casually.

Miaomiao: Judging by your name, Miss Song, do you work in real estate sales? Which company are you with?

Song Yunfei answered truthfully.

Miaomiao: Oh, Qingcheng? What a coincidence—my hometown is Qingcheng too. My grandparents are there. I’m planning to go back in the next couple of days to visit them and, by the way, buy them a house. I’ll come find you then.

Song Yunfei blinked—was this person about to bring her business?

She felt delighted and quickly agreed.

She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly—rich people even give gifts so subtly. In her heart, she really wanted to say they could just give money directly!

Of course, she could only think that to herself—saying it out loud might mean even the commission would be gone.

After finishing his shower, Chu Jinhan came out and saw her holding her phone and smiling foolishly.

Before he could say anything, Song Yunfei’s phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, the smile on her lips froze, and she subconsciously glanced at Chu Jinhan.

Chu Jinhan was drying his hair nearby and didn’t notice her.

Song Yunfei quickly got off the bed, pretending to go to the bathroom, and answered the call inside.

Chu Jinhan slightly turned his head, glancing at her suspicious, sneaky figure.

The call was from Bai Yu. After answering, Song Yunfei spoke in a hushed, thief-like voice, “Didn’t I tell you not to call me if nothing’s wrong?”

The original owner had also said this to him before, so the two of them hadn’t called each other for two or three months.

Hearing this, Bai Yu seemed a bit hurt, his tone carrying disappointment. “You didn’t reply to my messages, so I thought something might have happened to you.”

Hearing his voice, Song Yunfei felt a little guilty.

But to avoid being exposed, she could only continue lying. “I’ve been really busy these past couple of days and didn’t have time to check my phone.”

“Why did you change your WeChat name? Did you go into real estate sales?”

Song Yunfei twitched her lips. “You called just to ask that?”

Bai Yu replied, “No, I just noticed and asked. I actually wanted to tell you that the Chu family has started investigating me recently. I feel like things are about to be exposed.”

“Xiao Fei, I think you should stop. Tell Chu Jinhan the truth—if you confess proactively, you might still be forgiven.”

Song Yunfei sighed inwardly. If she had transmigrated half a year earlier, she wouldn’t have needed Bai Yu to remind her—she would have confessed without hesitation.

But now, she had been lying for half a year. Confessing would be like courting death. Moreover, she knew the plot.

The original heroine even had a child, and Chu Jinhan still coldly had it aborted—let alone now.

After a moment of silence, Song Yunfei said, “It’s too late. Please, hide it as long as you can. I’ve dragged you into this. If they really find out, just say I threatened you to do it—put everything on me.”

After all, she was already covered in “lice” and no longer afraid of itching—one charge or two made no difference. She couldn’t escape anyway, and in the end, she would still die.

Bai Yu sighed. “Why go this far?”

Song Yunfei also wanted to ask herself—why go this far? Bai Yu was quite outstanding too, so why was the original heroine so fixated on Chu Jinhan?

“Alright, I won’t talk anymore.” Song Yunfei quickly hung up.

Putting away her phone, she left the bathroom and returned, only to find Chu Jinhan looking at her quietly, as if asking casually, “Got business?”

Song Yunfei forced a smile. “A Mrs. Zhao asked me about housing.”

Chu Jinhan stared at her for several seconds but didn’t say anything.

Feeling uneasy under his gaze, Song Yunfei chuckled awkwardly and walked toward the bed. “Let’s sleep early. We still have to drive tomorrow.”

Chu Jinhan’s gaze moved between the bed and the sofa a couple of times before he ultimately chose the bed.

Lying down in the dark, the familiar scent from the blanket lingered, faintly reminding them of each other.

Song Yunfei tried to pretend to sleep when suddenly a hand rested on her waist.

She stiffened instantly.

From behind her came the man’s low voice, “Last night… was it because things happened too suddenly that you were scared?”

His voice was deep and magnetic, sending a slight tingling sensation through her ears.

“…”

For a moment, Song Yunfei didn’t know what he intended to do.

Hadn’t he said last night that there was no need to use that kind of thing to prove their relationship?
