Song Yunfei was also stunned. She looked at Bai Yu and saw, for the first time, such an expression on his face.

“I’m sorry. I’ve dragged you into this.”

Bai Yu laughed lightly in irritation and returned to his usual demeanor. “Isn’t it a bit too late to say that now?”

“I can see it clearly—you’ve really fallen into this, Yang Cuihua. Fine. Since we’re now all in the same boat, there’s no point saying more. Whenever you decide you want to leave, just tell me.”

After saying that, he turned and walked toward the car by the roadside, casually waving his hand at Song Yunfei with his back to her.

Song Yunfei watched as his car drove away before heading back toward the sales office.

After driving to the hospital parking lot, Bai Yu thought for a moment, then took out his phone and made a call.

Once it connected, he said to the person on the other end, “Help me find out whether Chu Jinhan has returned.”

After receiving a reply, he hung up.

Chu Jinhan had returned yesterday—today was only the second day. Being able to detect it so quickly wasn’t too late.

Meanwhile, Chu Jinhan had already obtained Bai Yu’s information.

Leaning back in his chair, he casually flipped through the documents.

“These two actually knew each other since university.”

Wei Ke said, “Yes. They didn’t attend the same university, but it’s said they met at a social event.”

“However…” Wei Ke hesitated slightly, unsure whether to continue.

Chu Jinhan glanced up, making Wei Ke shudder.

Wei Ke quickly said, “Their interactions weren’t many. Bai Yu was very attentive toward her, but according to Song Yunfei’s classmates, she didn’t think much of Bai Yu.”

“Didn’t think much of him?” Chu Jinhan’s gaze became somewhat subtle.

“Yes. She thought Bai Yu didn’t have money. In any case, people’s impression of her was… that she was quite vain.”

From Wei Ke’s investigation, Song Yunfei’s reputation wasn’t very good. Many people, when mentioning her, would unconsciously mock her, treating her as something of a joke.

With a thud, the file was thrown onto the desk. The sound wasn’t loud, but it stood out sharply in the quiet study.

“People who are foolish see everyone else as foolish. They judge others by their own standards, yet remain ignorant of their own foolishness.”

Wei Ke scratched his nose: “…”

After speaking, Chu Jinhan noticed Wei Ke’s strange expression and added, “I’m referring to Song Yunfei.”

“Oh…” Wei Ke thought to himself—if he says so, then so be it.

“How many people know that I’ve returned?”

Wei Ke replied, “Aside from the chairman and a few others, no one else knows yet.”

Chu Jinhan pondered for a moment. “For now, don’t let anyone else know.”

“Alright.”

As the two were talking, someone suddenly knocked on the door from outside. “Sir, Miss Shen has arrived.”

Chu Jinhan slightly furrowed his brows and looked toward Wei Ke.

Wei Ke also looked confused. “I don’t know. Maybe Chu Xiūye told her?”

Chu Jinhan fell silent for a moment, then signaled for him to leave first.

Wei Ke nodded and turned to exit the study.

Not long after, a tall woman walked in. She wore a light lotus-colored cheongsam paired with a khaki coat, her long hair in soft curls.

Her face carried little expression, but every movement exuded elegance and a cool, refined aura.

Shen Younan walked in and casually closed the door behind her.

Her gaze swept across the sofa where the man in gray loungewear sat. The man, like her, maintained a calm expression—so composed it seemed as if carved from the same mold.

The only difference was that he had a bandage on his forehead.

They locked eyes, neither of them speaking. The air between them carried a silent chill, a mutual, unspoken scrutiny.

Chu Jinhan didn’t stand up, nor did he change his posture. He simply gestured toward the seat opposite him. “Please, sit.”

Shen Younan complied and sat down across from him.

She looked at Chu Jinhan, her gaze landing on the bandage on his forehead, a faint trace of mockery flickering deep in her eyes.

“You’re back, and you didn’t tell me?”

Chu Jinhan replied, “I was afraid of disturbing your good time.”

Shen Younan fell silent as well. Sitting upright, she placed her hands elegantly folded on her knees.

After a long pause, her emotionless voice finally spoke. “Don’t you have anything you want to say to me?”

“Say what?” Chu Jinhan asked in return. “Talk about you and my younger brother, or about our engagement?”

Shen Younan’s fingers, resting on her knees, curled slightly. She hadn’t expected him to be so direct.

His appearance clearly suggested that he had regained his memory, yet his reaction was completely beyond her expectations.

“Why not talk about you and that woman instead? Why did you leave her behind and come back on your own?”

“Miss Shen.”

Shen Younan looked straight at him. Although he had always addressed her this way, in the past, those three words carried politeness. Now, however, they were filled with detachment.

Chu Jinhan said, “If you’re only here to talk about these matters, then you can leave.”

Shen Younan didn’t speak, nor did she leave.

At this moment, she indeed had no right to question him as his fiancée. In a sense, she had done something similar to what Chu Jinhan had done.

Whether out of revenge or out of spite, once something was done, it was done.

But the difference was that Chu Jinhan had acted while suffering from amnesia, not consciously entangling himself with another woman.

Whereas she, fully aware, had gone and involved herself with Chu Xiūye. In comparison, she seemed to be the one with less justification.

After a long silence, Shen Younan finally spoke. “What do you plan to do about our engagement now?”

Chu Jinhan replied, “That’s something you should ask yourself. Since you came here, you must have already thought it through.”

“And if I say I want to continue the engagement?”

“Continue?” Chu Jinhan’s lips curved slightly in a hint of cold mockery. “Miss Shen, if the person you chose was someone other than Chu Xiūye, I could pretend nothing happened. Perhaps I would consider continuing the engagement.”

“But you chose Chu Xiūye. If my disappearance over the past six months caused you any harm, I can apologize and offer compensation for what you want.”

“However, if you’re trying to use this matter to drive a wedge between us brothers, I advise you not to play such a pointless game.”

Shen Younan clenched her fingers tightly. She didn’t know how she should react.

Anger—she had already felt it before.

Hatred—she had already felt that too. Now, Chu Jinhan’s calm attitude only made her feel confusion and defeat.

Chu Jinhan continued, “I hope your feelings for him are genuine, not that you’re merely using him as a pawn. Although that fool may be willing to be used by you, are you really going to betray his sincerity?”

Shen Younan suddenly laughed, a hint of self-mockery mixed in. “It seems you’ve really gone through quite a lot during this time. To hear the words ‘sincerity’ come from your mouth is rather surprising.”

Chu Jinhan had always operated by weighing pros and cons, with profit as the priority. Hearing such words from him was truly unexpected.

Chu Jinhan ignored her comment. “Miss Shen, if you have anything else to say, say it all at once. Don’t waste each other’s time.”

Shen Younan’s eyelashes trembled slightly. “So now, talking to me is just a waste of time?”

A hint of fatigue appeared between Chu Jinhan’s brows.

He pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a soft sigh. “The chairman position, the shares—you don’t want me to have them. I can give them up. What else do you want?”

“You… do you even know what you’re saying?”
