Song Yunfei was also frightened. She let out an “oh” and sheepishly withdrew her hand.
After leaving that rough stretch of road, the electric bike finally rode smoothly again.
“I didn’t expect that after delivering takeout for a few months, you’d become so familiar with these roads.”
Song Yunfei felt a bit impressed. This road was clearly a shortcut; the route suggested by navigation didn’t go this way at all.
Chu Jinhan didn’t respond, focusing on riding the bike.
There weren’t many cars on the road, possibly because the area was rather remote.
However, Song Yunfei noticed a Bentley slowly approaching from behind, and she couldn’t help but take a closer look.
Unexpectedly, once the Bentley caught up and rode alongside their electric bike, it slowed down.
Chu Jinhan also noticed and glanced back.
The passenger window of the Bentley rolled down, and a man in his twenties leaned his head out, waving his phone.
“Hey beauty, add me as a friend.”
Seeing the teasing look in the man’s eyes, Song Yunfei snorted and turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
Seeing that she ignored him, the man let out a mocking laugh and muttered a curse under his breath, calling her a poser.
Song Yunfei sensed Chu Jinhan’s body tensing up, the veins on his forearm bulging—he looked ready to snap at any moment.
Her heart tightened. She hugged his waist and whispered, “Don’t pay attention to him. Let’s just go our way.”
The man, apparently stung by the rejection, continued to pester them, still keeping pace with the electric bike.
“Beauty, isn’t it uncomfortable sitting on this crappy electric bike? Want me to give you a ride?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Jinhan suddenly squeezed the brakes.
The electric bike came to a steady stop by the roadside.
He cast a cold glance toward the Bentley.
But the Bentley didn’t stop—it drove straight past them.
The passenger gave Chu Jinhan the middle finger, mocking him. “Bro doesn’t seem convinced? If you’ve got the guts, catch up and have a fight.”
After he finished speaking, laughter erupted from inside the car—it seemed there were more than just two people.
The electric bike stood alone by the roadside as the Bentley sped away, kicking up waves of heat, making Song Yunfei and Chu Jinhan look like fools in contrast.
Song Yunfei tugged at his sleeve to comfort him. “Don’t bother with people like that. That car is probably rented just to show off. Real rich people don’t act that bored.”
Chu Jinhan’s expression remained indifferent. He glanced sideways at her. “You’re very sure about that?”
Song Yunfei replied, “Would a rich person behave like they’ve never seen a woman before? That car must be rented!”
“So that’s why you didn’t add him as a friend?”
Song Yunfei froze again. His way of thinking was truly unbeatable.
She said irritably, “In your mind, am I that kind of person?! Someone who clings to rich men the moment she sees them?”
Chu Jinhan said nothing, just stared at her.
Song Yunfei lost her temper. Fine—her original self did seem to be that kind of person.
Otherwise, Chu Jinhan wouldn’t be riding an electric bike here.
A thought flashed in her mind. She immediately glared at him. “Since that’s what you think, then let’s break up!”
After saying that, she turned her head away angrily, but her peripheral vision was still watching his reaction.
If it wouldn’t provoke him too much, ending things now might not be a bad idea.
Chu Jinhan’s expression still showed no change.
Then he suddenly said, “So you’ve finally said it.”
Song Yunfei froze.
Chu Jinhan continued, “Who was that man?”
“??”
“Are you sick?” Song Yunfei was truly speechless. It was the first time she had seen someone actively trying to accuse themselves of being cheated on.
“Is he very rich?”
“……”
Unable to hold back any longer, Song Yunfei snapped, “Yes! He’s richer than you, more handsome than you, and more considerate than you! Are you satisfied now?! So, let’s break up.”
“From now on, you walk your own path and I’ll cross my own bridge. Goodbye!”
Song Yunfei got off the electric bike angrily and walked ahead.
Crazy! Why did he always think she was cheating?!
Chu Jinhan didn’t chase after her. He stood beside the electric bike, watching her storming figure.
The sun was getting stronger, now almost directly overhead.
After walking for only a short while, Song Yunfei was drenched in sweat, feeling dizzy from the heat.
This lousy place didn’t even have a taxi.
She took out her map and checked it, realizing she wasn’t far from Mr. Zhao’s place. It would only take another ten-plus minutes of walking.
But she had overestimated her physical stamina. After less than ten minutes, she could no longer go on.
She was just about to find a shaded spot to rest.
When she turned around, she saw a familiar electric bike catching up and stopping in front of her.
Song Yunfei glanced at him. “Why did you follow me?”
Chu Jinhan looked at her for a moment before speaking, “I misunderstood you.”
Hearing him apologize, Song Yunfei’s expression softened quite a bit.
Originally, she hadn’t planned to use this reason to break up.
After all, she had already deceived him so badly—and even made him “wear a green hat.”
When he regained his memory, she wouldn’t even have to go to jail; she could just disappear.
She had already felt a bit of regret while walking earlier. Now that he had come to give her an out, she naturally took it.
Still, her tone remained somewhat stiff. “So now you think it was a misunderstanding?”
Chu Jinhan said, “I mean, if you have a better option, you can tell me directly. There’s no need to hide it—I will let go.”
Before Song Yunfei could react, he continued, “If you don’t, then don’t bring up breaking up.”
Song Yunfei eyed him suspiciously and asked uncertainly, “What do you mean? You can’t bear to lose me?”
Chu Jinhan: “Not really. I’m afraid you’ll starve to death.”
“You!” Song Yunfei took a deep breath and forced out a smile. “So you’re saying I can’t live without you?”
Chu Jinhan let out a faint sigh. His gaze toward her grew more complicated.
He spoke slowly, “Since you’ve done so much for me, I should take responsibility to the end—whether that means helping you find a better option or ensuring you can live independently.”
“If you really insist on separating, at least wait until your work is stable.”
Rarely speaking so much, Song Yunfei’s expression gradually settled as she listened.
Looking at the man’s serious eyes, her mood also became complicated.
She had to admit—he really was a good man.
Even when his girlfriend was about to break up with him, he was still thinking of her well-being.
If the original owner hadn’t deceived him, she would have been incredibly happy.
After spending the past six months together, the original owner was probably more than anyone hoping that the lies she had fabricated could come true.
Even Song Yunfei herself, at this moment…
She gave a helpless smile. Falsehoods are falsehoods—they can never become reality.
The day the truth is revealed will be her end. That is the real truth.
Seeing her remain silent, Chu Jinhan took a cup of milk tea from the trunk and handed it to her.
Song Yunfei looked at the milk tea, slightly startled. “When did you buy this?”
“Just now.”
“So you took so long to catch up because you went to buy milk tea?”
Chu Jinhan nodded slightly. “I happened to see it along the way.”
Song Yunfei felt a bit moved inside.
She had indeed been thirsty after walking for so long. She took the milk tea and started drinking.
After a couple of sips, she got back onto the electric bike.
“Let’s leave this matter here. We’ve made up. You’re not allowed to suspect me of cheating again.”
Chu Jinhan was silent for a moment, then gave a quiet “Mm.”
