The way she said “A-Jing” was just too sweet, sweet enough to make Ren Yanjing momentarily stunned. He instinctively asked, “What did you just call me?”
Tang Zhen blinked, looking puzzled. “A-Jing.” Then she quickly realized something and smiled, tugging at her lips, “You’re not used to me calling you that, are you? My boyfriend.”
Ren Yanjing’s Adam’s apple moved—he really wasn’t used to it.
His brothers had many nicknames for him: Brother Yan, Ren God, Jing God… but she was the first to call him A-Jing.
Tang Zhen leaned closer, a gentle fragrance drifting toward him—a soft, sweet scent with hints of coconut and orange.
“I’ll say it a few more times and you’ll get used to it. A-Jing, A-Jing, A-Jing!”
“Mm.”
“A-Jing!”
“I’m here.”
After their little childish game, Tang Zhen finally focused on watching the sunrise. The viewing spot was perfect—she could see the sun slowly rising over the horizon, from start to finish.
She couldn’t help but pull out her phone to record the scene, narrating playfully, “Today is the first time A-Jing and I are watching the sunrise together. Worth remembering.”
As she finished, a second voice-over appeared in the video: “There will be a second time, a third time…”
It was Ren Yanjing.
Tang Zhen smiled but said nothing. Maybe there wouldn’t be a second or third time watching the sunrise with him—so she chose to cherish the moment.
After the sunrise, it was already 6:30 a.m.
Tang Zhen got into Ren Yanjing’s sports car, and they left. Only then did the eight young people start talking loudly about them.
“Whoa, handsome guy, gorgeous girl! That couple looked so perfect together!”
“The guy seems like a rich second-generation—he’s loaded.”
“Is everyone so obsessed with looks nowadays?”
While the group gushed over them, a disdainful female voice cut in, “They’ll break up sooner or later.”
It was the female lead’s best friend. She clearly didn’t think Ren Yanjing and Tang Zhen would last.
The others didn’t argue; they just laughed and said, “Why care so much about the future? Just enjoy the moment.”
“Breaking up is normal these days; not breaking up would be abnormal.”
“Still, I think they might not break up.”
“Who cares? They’re just strangers we bumped into.”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
The group laughed and got into their SUVs.
Before returning to school, Ren Yanjing first took Tang Zhen to a restaurant for breakfast. After entering a private room, he stepped outside to take a call. With nothing to do, Tang Zhen wandered nearby.
Many people came here for breakfast in the morning. To her surprise, she ran into the siblings Zhou Xusi and Zhou Wan!
What a small world!
Zhou Wan immediately sneered, “What are you doing here?”
It sounded as if Tang Zhen didn’t even deserve to eat here. Was this restaurant really that fancy?
Tang Zhen pursed her lips, clearly not wanting to speak.
Zhou Wan snorted. “This place isn’t cheap. Remember, every penny you spend now comes from our Zhou family!” The implication was clear: you, who rely on the Zhou family’s money, don’t deserve to be here.
Her words stung—it treated Tang Zhen completely as an outsider.
Zhou Xusi lightly nudged his sister. “Wanwan.”
Zhou Wan pouted in grievance. “Brother, did I say something wrong?”
Actually, Zhou Wan was wrong. Tang Zhen hadn’t used any of the Zhou family’s money since coming here. She earned a bit tutoring and barely covered her daily expenses.
However, the previous female supporting character had indeed spent their money. And now, tuition was still being paid by the Zhou family. Tang Zhen couldn’t do anything about it.
She pressed her lips together and said, “I’ll pay you back this money in the future.”
Zhou Xusi said lightly, “No need.” Then he looked at Tang Zhen and invited, “Want to have breakfast together?”
Tang Zhen shook her head.
Zhou Wan snapped, “Then tell me—why are you here?”
Tang Zhen didn’t want to reveal Ren Yanjing’s presence. Zhou Wan had secretly liked Ren Yanjing for years. If she found out Tang Zhen was with him, it would be endless trouble.
Besides, Tang Zhen and Ren Yanjing were going to break up sooner or later. Once that happened, Zhou Wan would probably mock her for life.
Tang Zhen had many excuses she could make up, but she didn’t want to lie. After saying sorry to Zhou Xusi, she turned and ran.
Zhou Wan angrily stomped the ground. “Brother, look at her!”
Zhou Xusi glanced in Tang Zhen’s running direction, restraining the urge to chase. Calmly, he said, “Alright, what’s there to argue about?”
Zhou Wan looked incredulous. “I’m not arguing! Brother, I’m just asking why she’s here! She clearly ignored me!”
“Enough,” Zhou Xusi said, not wanting to hear her complaints. Tang Zhen had done nothing; Zhou Wan had always been picking on her.
His sister had been spoiled too much. He kept his eyes forward, walking on, “Let this be the last time.”
Zhou Wan: “???”
Was her brother really favoring this outsider, Tang Zhen?!
Tang Zhen ran fast, thinking of nothing but getting out of the restaurant.
But she hadn’t run far before she landed in a broad, warm embrace.
“What’s wrong?”
A familiar voice whispered in her ear.
“Why aren’t you staying in the room?” Ren Yanjing asked again.
She took a few deep breaths, calming herself. “It’s nothing, I just…” She didn’t want to mention the Zhou siblings to Ren Yanjing. Their mother had passed six years ago; her own mother had met Mr. Zhou last year and only married into the Zhou family this year.
But Zhou Wan always treated her mother as a mistress.
And she had shown Tang Zhen no kindness either.
Tang Zhen understood why Zhou Wan didn’t welcome them—but she couldn’t accept it.
She didn’t want to burden Ren Yanjing with these unpleasant realities. During their brief romance, she wanted to keep the image of each other beautiful. Heavy, real-world matters didn’t need to be mentioned.
It was just a relationship, not a marriage—why share unhappy things with him?
Thinking this, Tang Zhen smiled sweetly. Her eyes curved like crescent moons, sparkling like stars. “I missed you, so I came to find you.”
