Tang Zhen said to 000, “The male lead shouldn’t just say he’s busy with school and expect me to understand, right? But instead, he directly said it was his fault.”
000 didn’t quite understand either, and guessed, 【After all, you’ve only been together six days—not even a week. You’ve only been on one date. You’re still in the honeymoon phase.】
000 had a point.
At the beginning of a relationship, both sides are usually more patient because they don’t know each other well yet. They’re still figuring out each other’s personalities.
Tang Zhen glanced at the mission and realized it hadn’t been completed. What did that mean? That her little tantrum wasn’t strong enough?
She wasn’t very familiar with the difference between a small tantrum and a big one.
She generally had a good temper, rarely clashed with anyone, and almost never lost her temper. In truth, she didn’t really understand what a “small tantrum” even felt like.
“000, does what I just said not count as throwing a tantrum?”
【It should, but you can be a bit fiercer, a bit more impatient. Even though it’s a small tantrum, it’s still a tantrum. But, Xiao Zhen, your attitude can’t be too bad. If you push the male lead too far, it’ll lead to a direct BE ending, and that would be terrible.】
Tang Zhen felt a headache coming on. At first, she thought this mission would be easy, but in the end, she realized she had underestimated what “throwing a tantrum” really meant.
It all came down to one thing: she had no experience.
The phone call had already started, the mission had begun—she couldn’t quit halfway.
Holding her phone, Tang Zhen looked up at the scattered stars in the sky and began to fuss, “We haven’t seen each other in three days. If I don’t call you, does that mean you won’t contact me at all?”
Ren Yanjing’s reply sounded weak, “No…”
Tang Zhen let out a little scoff. It was supposed to be a disdainful, dismissive scoff, but her voice was so sweet that it sounded more like a tiny kitten than a scolding.
Still, she was putting her full effort into this “small tantrum.”
“But the truth is, you haven’t sent me a single message in these three days. If I don’t call you now, would you go a week… a month… without even thinking of me?”
Ren Yanjing exhaled again, clearly facing this situation for the first time.
Things were a bit tricky. Obviously, he had no prior experience with this, so he sounded slightly awkward. “I… haven’t…”
“I’m… your… Ren Yanjing…” Oops, she almost said “male lead.”
Luckily, Ren Yanjing answered the question, “You’re my girlfriend.”
“Hmm… the girlfriend you haven’t contacted for three days.”
That little jab hit—she couldn’t let it slide.
Of course, technically it could have been ignored, but the mission hadn’t been completed yet.
Ren Yanjing shifted the topic, “Where are you now?”
Tang Zhen heard rustling noises from the other end but ignored them and continued stubbornly, “Where else could I be besides the dorm? My boyfriend isn’t taking me out, so every day it’s either classes or sleeping in the dorm. Life hasn’t changed at all since I started dating.”
“My roommates have asked me several times, ‘Where’s your boyfriend?’ I wanted to say I don’t know either.”
“I still go to classes with them, eat with them, return to the dorm with them, and at night, we watch short dramas in the dorm together.”
Tang Zhen had initially been indifferent, but as she spoke, a little sadness crept in. Although this was just for the mission, this was genuinely her first love.
At her age, she still held hopes and dreams for romance—especially with a male lead so handsome, hitting every point of her aesthetic.
But in three days, she hadn’t even seen a single strand of Ren Yanjing’s hair.
She didn’t need to rush initially, but the countdown to the breakup had already started. The time left for her first love experience was limited. If possible, she wanted to leave behind some memories—or something else.
She didn’t want her first relationship to end completely, leaving only a blank.
After saying all this, Tang Zhen fell silent. She didn’t check the mission, so she didn’t immediately realize it had been completed.
The call time between them kept ticking upward.
Time ticked by, minute by minute.
Tang Zhen listened to the light, steady breathing on the other end of the line and felt a little genuinely annoyed. “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
“Come down.”
Tang Zhen froze. “What?”
“I’m downstairs at your dorm.”
Tang Zhen: !!!
She leapt to the balcony railing and looked down. Sure enough, in front of the dorm stood a tall, long-legged, unbelievably handsome guy. If it wasn’t the male lead, who else could it be?!
He seemed to have come in a hurry—he wasn’t wearing a jacket, just a thin short-sleeved shirt.
At this hour, it wasn’t too late yet. There were still people coming and going in front of the dorm, and soon a few noticed him.
Tang Zhen lived on the second floor, so going downstairs was easy. She pushed open the balcony door, told her three roommates a quick word, and headed down.
Once she was outside, the cold wind hit her, and she finally calmed down a bit. She walked gracefully in small steps to Ren Yanjing, looked up at him, and asked, “Why did you come?”
Ren Yanjing lowered his gaze, looking at her. “I was afraid that if I didn’t come, my girlfriend would run away.”
Run away? Not quite.
At least, not right now.
Ren Yanjing took her wrist. “Let’s go. I’ll take you out.”
Tang Zhen noticed the bluish tint under his eyes. His fair skin made it stand out even more. She blinked, “How long has it been since you rested?”
Ren Yanjing didn’t want to discuss it further and said simply, “Not long.” In reality, over the past three days, he had only slept ten hours total—barely over three hours per day—and it was all in short segments of about half an hour at a time.
The college robotics competition was coming up next Sunday. These past days, he and his teammates had been debugging their entry, “Robert.” Three days ago, Robert developed a major malfunction that needed to be checked and fixed one by one, which is why his teammates kept calling him.
Thankfully, the malfunction was resolved, and Robert was now stable. He would soon have a little more free time.
Tang Zhen followed the male lead to the car.
Today, he had switched to an orange-red sports car. Compared to the previous black one, this car was bright and eye-catching.
Curiosity piqued, Tang Zhen asked, “Has any other girl sat in your passenger seat besides me?”
Ren Yanjing glanced at her. His handsome face seemed to glow in the dim car interior. His eyes were deep, his nose sharp, and his lips… looked really kissable.
“No.”
“Oh.”
She didn’t ask him to drive. Instead, she said, “Let’s just sit in the car for a while.” Then she tilted her head playfully and said, “You look like you haven’t rested in ages. I wouldn’t dare ride in your car.”
Ren Yanjing suddenly smiled. “I just hired a driver.”
In fact, he didn’t dare drive her himself. He really hadn’t rested properly in a long time.
Tang Zhen turned to him. “Why don’t you sleep for a bit in the car?”
“And you?”
“I’ll watch you sleep.”
Ren Yanjing didn’t refuse. He leaned over the steering wheel and quickly fell asleep.
He looked so obedient and handsome while asleep.
Tang Zhen sighed. “000, as expected of a supporting female lead, the male lead specifically comes here just to rest in front of the supporting female lead.”
000 laughed heartily, 【Get used to it. Look on the bright side—you’re the first girl to see his sleeping face.】
Tang Zhen: …
