111 couldn’t help muttering, 【The elementary-school-level lovebird is online again.】
Not only clingy, but also randomly jealous.
The improvement from before, however, was that at least he could now speak sweet words — and not just a few, but a continuous stream of them.
But then again… can someone’s thinking be so clear when drunk?
The male lead’s thoughts were not only clear, but his words were precise too. Whether in Cantonese or Mandarin, he spoke slowly and tenderly.
So the question was: was he really drunk, or not?
111 was puzzled. Ren Yanjing looked drunk, but also not really drunk.
Never mind — if it couldn’t be guessed, then don’t guess.
For some reason, the phrase “I’ll always wait for you” suddenly reminded Tang Zhen of 111’s evaluation of Ren Yanjing.
She gently patted the hand that was holding her tightly and whispered, “Ren Yanjing, you really are so… pure in love.”
Ren Yanjing rested his face against the side of hers. “Actually, I…”
Tang Zhen didn’t catch it. “What?”
A soft sigh sounded in her ear. “…Not pure love.” Or rather, he didn’t want pure love anymore.
Tang Zhen, “???” She was stunned for a moment before fully hearing what he had said.
As if confirming his words, the next second brought a flurry of delicate kisses — on her eyelids, her cheek, her nose tip, the corners of her lips… unending, like a fairy tale that would never end.
“Th… 111, Ren Yanjing he…”
111 responded nonchalantly, 【Zhen, can you trust an elementary-school-level lovebird when drunk? Kisses don’t count as ‘not pure love.’ Let’s see if he can actually ‘not be pure’ right now!】
【See, Zhen? I knew it.】
【So don’t take his words too seriously.】
Tang Zhen once again sensed a hint of regret in 111’s tone, but she didn’t have the energy to think too much. She could only slightly turn her face and say, “Ren Yanjing, let go of me first.”
But instead of loosening his grip, Ren Yanjing held her even tighter.
With no other choice, Tang Zhen had to take this “clingy weight” into the bathroom, wring out a towel, and hurriedly wipe his face.
After washing up, she suggested, “Why don’t you lie down on the bed first?”
“No.” Ren Yanjing nuzzled her face. “Baby, don’t let go of me…”
“Alright, alright.” Tang Zhen was patient with drunk people. After Ren Yanjing got drunk, he wasn’t noisy or troublesome at all — just extremely clingy. She had never seen him so enthusiastic about hugging and being close.
Tang Zhen had the hotel front desk send some sobering medicine. After giving it to Ren Yanjing, she herself was exhausted and collapsed onto the bed, ready to sleep.
Half-asleep, she felt as if someone was gently washing her face and hands with a hot towel — one finger at a time, slowly and delicately.
The meticulous care was so soothing it was almost hypnotic. She mumbled a few words and turned over, drifting into deep sleep.
The next morning, Tang Zhen woke up to find that Ren Yanjing had already gotten up. Their flight was at 2 PM that day, so after breakfast, they could head to the airport.
Tang Zhen noticed there was only one blanket on the bed and froze for a moment. “111, did the male lead and I share a blanket last night?”
111 replied, 【Yes, Zhen.】
Tang Zhen: !!!
111 explained, 【The male lead drank too much last night. He probably forgot that normally each of you has your own blanket.】
【But it doesn’t matter. Zhen, last night was still a pure-love night.】
Tang Zhen wasn’t surprised. After all, the male lead was personally certified by system 111 as a “pure-love war god.”
After breakfast and packing, they headed to the airport. By the time they arrived back in the country, it was already late at night.
Coming out of Exit C, Tang Zhen saw an unexpected person —
Zhou Xusi.
He must have just returned from an overseas business trip. He was accompanied by a bodyguard, a secretary, and two assistants — a grand entourage that immediately marked him as a successful, mature, and wealthy elite.
Seeing her and Ren Yanjing, he calmly approached and greeted, “Zhen Zhen, long time no see.”
Tang Zhen didn’t know how to address Zhou Xusi.
Calling him “Big Brother” didn’t feel right, but not calling him that left her unsure what to say.
Seeing her remain silent, Zhou Xusi asked lightly, “Why aren’t you calling me ‘Big Brother’?”
Tang Zhen was about to awkwardly call him “Big Brother” just to get past it, but Ren Yanjing interjected: “Sorry, her ‘big brother’ is Tang Fei.” The implication was clear — Zhou Xusi was no “big brother” to her.
Zhou Xusi glanced at him coolly, then returned his attention to Tang Zhen. “I happen to have some business dealings with your mother. I’ll be visiting her in a few days.”
Tang Zhen’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. “But… Big Brother, aren’t you in the gaming industry?”
She remembered that her mother, whom she had just officially recognized, was in manufacturing.
Zhou Xusi explained, “I’ve started to get involved in the family business.”
Making games was just a personal hobby; his family didn’t get rich through games. His father had long planned for him to take over the family business, though he had previously refused.
He hadn’t been interested in the family’s various industries, wanting to focus solely on his games.
But plans can’t always keep up with changes.
For certain reasons, it wasn’t impossible for hobbies to make a slight concession to reality.
Ren Yanjing, expressionless, took Tang Zhen’s hand and started walking. Out of courtesy, Tang Zhen turned to wave goodbye to Zhou Xusi.
Zhou Xusi had one hand in his pocket, raising the other to wave back. “Goodbye.”
It didn’t take much for Ren Yanjing to understand Zhou Xusi’s intentions.
A person who never planned to touch the real-world business suddenly starts doing so — and it’s not for Tang Zhen’s mother, then who else could it be for?
All Tang Zhen could think was that Zhou Xusi was persistent to an irritating degree, always finding ways to get close to her.
It was, frankly, exasperating.
The next day after Tang Zhen returned to the country, it was the day previously scheduled for the visit to a top domestic laboratory.
She had thought she might miss the opportunity, but after some twists and turns, it had finally come around to her.
The lab reportedly had many robots, something she had always wanted to see and didn’t want to miss.
111 commented, 【Zhen, this shows your connection with robots is deep.】
Tang Zhen: “Seems so.”
The next day, when she and Ren Yanjing arrived at the lab entrance, Shen Quanli and the others were already there.
Seeing her, they eagerly approached and greeted, “Sister-in-law, long time no see!”
“Sister-in-law! You disappeared before, you have no idea how worried the captain was!”
“Sister-in-law, we were so worried! Glad you’re safe!”
The team’s enthusiasm made Tang Zhen’s refined, delicate face show sincere apology. “I’m sorry for making you worry.”
Shen Quanli waved hurriedly, “It’s okay, it’s okay. No need to apologize. As long as you’re fine.”
Zhang Mian glanced around. “It’s about time. Shall we go in?”
Once inside, they realized they weren’t the only visitors that day.
After seeing Fate and Star perform in the first-round preliminaries, the lab director had invited both teams to tour the lab as well.
Naturally, rivals meeting caused a little tension.
At once, Li Ran spoke first. “Ren Yanjing, last time at the City Science Museum, Robert got knocked out by Sugar. Don’t you want a rematch?”
Ren Yanjing’s tone was calm. “Say what you mean directly.”
Li Ran looked him straight in the eyes. “Let’s fight again. How about it?”
“Fine. Time and place?”
Li Ran was clearly prepared. “A week from now, City Science Museum — still the robot boxing match. Deal?”
Hearing the invitation, Shen Quanli was already eager to get ready.
Ren Yanjing nodded. “Okay.”
Li Ran looked at him intently. “Then… we won’t miss it.”
