Since Song Jingmo was injured, Yin Siyao had taken over the responsibility and was serving as the acting head of orthopedics.

8:00 a.m., Office

Dressed in a white coat and wearing a gentle smile, Yin Siyao finished checking attendance before leading several resident doctors and interns on their ward rounds.

In the ward, patients greeted the group of doctors and spoke about their conditions.

Yin Siyao stopped by the patient in Bed 32, first asking an intern to summarize the case, then adding further explanation about the key points.

The residents and interns listened attentively, some taking notes.

“Patient in Bed 37 has a normal temperature this morning, and the wound is healing well. They can prepare for discharge,” Yin Siyao said to the interns behind him. “After discharge, pay attention to daily diet…”

Before he could finish, the sharp ring of a phone broke the quiet of the ward.

Glancing at the caller ID and seeing it was the medical administration office, Yin Siyao immediately answered.

“The hospital just received notice—the investigation team is being sent to look into Dr. Song’s case,” came the anxious voice of the department director.

Yin Siyao frowned and quickly stepped out into the hallway, lowering his voice. “Investigate what? Dr. Song is still recovering.”

“Haven’t you seen the trending topics? Someone maliciously edited the video of Wang Bingsheng causing trouble that day, accusing Dr. Song of sexually harassing a female patient. The internet is exploding!”

Yin Siyao’s heart sank. He quickly opened his phone. A trending headline—“Doctor at Kangren Hospital accused of sexually harassing female patient under the pretense of examination”—stared back at him.

Opening the video, he saw a clipped segment of Song Jingmo’s hand reaching into Yan Xiaomei’s clothing, paired with provocative captions that completely twisted the truth.

“What nonsense!” Yin Siyao cursed under his breath and immediately dialed Song Jingmo.

“Jingmo, have you seen the trending topic? If you haven’t, don’t check your phone. Focus on recovering.”

Just after hanging up, a wave of hurried footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor.

The investigation team had arrived.

Leading them was a stern-looking middle-aged man, followed by five or six others—an imposing presence.

“We are from the investigation team, here to verify the online complaint regarding ‘a doctor at Kangren Hospital sexually harassing a female patient,’” the man said, showing his credentials. “Please cooperate.”

Before Yin Siyao could speak, someone in the team recognized him. “This is Dr. Yin Siyao—he was present that day.”

“Dr. Yin, please cooperate and give a statement,” the man instructed.

“I was the attending doctor on duty that day. I will cooperate fully.”

“Where is Dr. Song’s intern, Leng Keyan? We need to question him separately.”

Yin Siyao frowned. “He was stabbed by the patient and is resting in the ward. It’s not very convenient…”

“Please take us there.”

The group proceeded toward Leng Keyan’s ward, Yin Siyao following closely, unease churning in his chest.

In the corner, several patients whispered among themselves, casting strange looks at the medical staff.

Leng Keyan’s Ward

Leng Keyan, who had been playing on his phone, was surprised to see so many people. When he spotted Yin Siyao among them, his bright, puppy-like eyes lit up with delight.

Yin Siyao pressed a hand to his forehead. This silly kid.

“Dr. Leng, please describe what you saw that day,” a female investigator said sternly.

Leng Keyan answered calmly, “The patient had a severe knee injury and a high fever. Dr. Song wore medical gloves and conducted the examination to determine whether there was infection in other areas.”

“But the video shows his hand going inside the patient’s clothing. How do you explain that?”

“That’s because the patient’s abdomen was somewhat distended. Dr. Song suspected abdominal fluid accumulation, so he lifted the clothing to palpate and examine.”

Leng Keyan interrupted, growing agitated. “This is completely normal in medical examinations! And there were more than a dozen medical staff present in the ward—how could there possibly be sexual harassment?”

“Even hypothetically, Dr. Song is good-looking like a celebrity, and plenty of staff and patients show him appreciation every day. Why would he need to harass a female patient?”

The investigators were momentarily speechless before replying flatly, “We are just conducting routine questioning. There is no need to be so emotional.”

Leng Keyan shot back, “If your teacher were being wronged, wouldn’t you be anxious?”

Yin Siyao coughed lightly, signaling him to stop.

Turning to the investigators, he apologized, “Sorry. He’s still a student, new to his internship—young and inexperienced. Please forgive him.”

Meanwhile, in Song Jingmo’s Ward

The investigation team was also questioning Song Jingmo.

“Dr. Song, how do you respond to the allegations trending online?”

Though pale, Song Jingmo remained calm. “As a doctor, my primary duty is to treat patients.”

“In that situation, I needed to assess the patient’s infection. If I avoided necessary examinations out of fear of misunderstanding, that would be irresponsible.”

“During the examination, did you, as shown in the video, insert your hand into the patient’s clothing?”

“That was a necessary physical examination.” Song Jingmo looked directly at the investigator. “There were many residents and interns present. The entire process complied with medical standards.”

One staff member recorded notes while another continued, “The patient’s husband, Wang Bingsheng, accuses you of sexual harassment. How do you respond?”

A bitter smile appeared on Song Jingmo’s lips. “I was stabbed in the abdomen—my spleen was nearly injured. If that is the ‘cost’ of sexual harassment, it is far too heavy.”

The investigators exchanged glances and did not press further.

Although the hospital fully cooperated with the investigation, public opinion online continued to escalate. More and more uninformed netizens joined the condemnation, and some even began doxxing Song Jingmo.

[Netizen A]: “Let’s open a blind box. This Song Jingmo isn’t simple—his uncle is Qu Jingyu, the CEO of the Qu Group!”

[Netizen B]: “No wonder he’s so arrogant. The director of Kangren Hospital is his cousin Qu Weiwei—birds of a feather.”

[Netizen C]: “Rich people can do whatever they want. They must’ve used money to settle things with the authorities.”

The narrative spread rapidly, with more people believing it was a show manipulated by capital—thinking the Qu family was using wealth and power to shield Song Jingmo.

By 10:30 a.m., the situation escalated further. Song Jingmo’s parents, who were abroad, were also exposed.

[Netizen D]: “So the whole family ran overseas. Parents abroad, son acting tyrannical at home.”

[Netizen E]: “What kind of good doctor can come from such a family that worships foreign things? Kick him out of the country!”

[Netizen F]: “The authorities must’ve been bribed to help whitewash this!”
