Yin Siyao felt a little embarrassed by such straightforward praise. Under Leng Keyan’s expectant gaze and Luo Bingbing’s gentle insistence, he could only pick out a few items.
A finely tailored cashmere coat, two well-textured knit sweaters, and a pair of simply designed yet exquisitely detailed casual trousers.
Each piece was expensive, but compared to that million-dollar pair of jeans, they seemed much more “affordable.”
After the two of them finished choosing, Luo Bingbing also selected a few items and paid for everything together.
The store manager printed the bill and handed it to her. “President Luo, the total comes to 49 million.”
Luo Bingbing didn’t even look at it, as if she were just buying a cup of milk tea.
She casually took out a black card. “I’ll keep browsing a bit more. Send the clothes to the Lu residence.”
Then she asked Leng Keyan, “Do you need yours delivered as well?”
Leng Keyan turned to the manager. “Please have two people help carry these to my car.”
After a pause, he added, “Let that Li Shishi from earlier, and the male salesperson who assisted me, do it.”
The manager immediately agreed and went to call them.
Luo Bingbing watched Leng Keyan’s actions thoughtfully but said nothing.
Before leaving, she reached out and pinched Leng Keyan’s soft cheek. “Alright, I’ve got something to do, so I’ll go first. Bring him home for a meal sometime when you’re free.”
“Got it, Auntie. Drive safe.”
Leng Keyan waved with a smile.
Not long after Luo Bingbing left, Li Shishi and the male salesperson hurried out of the store.
Both of them looked uneasy, especially the male salesperson, who even had a bit of sweat on his forehead.
The ones serving in the VIP room had been the manager, the assistant manager, and the store’s top salespeople—he had no idea what had happened inside.
Each of them carried several shopping bags, which were quite heavy.
Li Shishi spoke first, “Mr. Leng, Father Yin, where is your car? We’ll carry these over for you.”
Leng Keyan replied indifferently, “Just follow me.”
“Alright.”
They didn’t dare ask more and followed a few steps behind him, neither too close nor too far.
When they reached a sleek black Mercedes sports car, Leng Keyan unlocked the trunk with his key.
Panting slightly, Li Shishi and the male salesperson carefully placed all the shopping bags inside, arranging them neatly.
After finishing, the male salesperson forced a smile full of apology.
He bowed again to Yin Siyao. “Father Yin, I’m really sorry about earlier. Please don’t take it to heart. It’s not easy to find a job these days, and my family…”
Yin Siyao hadn’t intended to dwell on it in the first place. The earlier unpleasantness had mostly faded.
He waved his hand, his tone calm. “It’s fine. It’s over.”
With that, he opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.
He didn’t like dealing with situations like this and could tell that Leng Keyan still had something to handle.
Sure enough, Leng Keyan didn’t get into the car immediately.
After making sure Yin Siyao was seated, he casually rolled up the window.
A bad feeling suddenly crept into Li Shishi’s heart.
Thinking back, she had been friendly the whole time and had even taken the jeans down for Yin Siyao to see. She couldn’t think of anything she had done wrong.
Leng Keyan turned around to face her.
The sunny smile he always wore in front of Yin Siyao had completely vanished.
There was even a faint trace of mockery at the corner of his lips, making his handsome eyes look cold and distant.
“Auntie Li.”
He spoke in a low voice—not harsh, even somewhat lazy—but it inexplicably made one’s heart tighten.
“Mr. Leng, is there anything you need help with?”
Li Shishi instinctively straightened her posture, her fingers unconsciously twisting together.
“You and Teacher Yin…”
Leng Keyan tilted his head slightly, as if merely curious. “What exactly is your relationship? Just ordinary classmates?”
Back in the store, Li Shishi had kept glancing at Yin Siyao.
That kind of burning gaze was hard to ignore.
If it had been someone else, she might not have been willing to take down that pair of pants.
Startled by his sudden change in demeanor and direct question, Li Shishi’s face turned pale.
She hurried to explain, “Yes—just ordinary classmates. We went to the same university and attended a few large lectures together. We’re really not close.”
“Oh, not close.”
Leng Keyan nodded, repeating her words in a tone devoid of emotion. “Good. Not close is good.”
As he spoke, he stepped half a pace forward, getting closer to her.
Li Shishi could even smell a faint, pleasant fragrance, but all she felt was mounting pressure.
“Since you’re just ordinary classmates,” he stared at her, slowing his speech so that every word landed clearly, “then you should keep the proper distance of ordinary classmates in the future, don’t you think?”
“How about starting by deleting WeChat?”
Leng Keyan smiled, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.
Li Shishi immediately took out her phone and, right in front of him, deleted Yin Siyao from WeChat.
“And one more thing—don’t call him ‘Siyao’ anymore. It sounds… awkward.”
His tone remained lazy, but the warning in his words was unmistakable.
Li Shishi hadn’t been qualified to serve in the VIP room, so she didn’t know their relationship.
But now, she completely understood.
The young man in front of her and Yin Siyao were definitely not just ordinary friends or teacher and student.
Cold sweat broke out on her back as she nodded quickly. “I understand. I’ll be careful from now on and keep my distance from Doctor Yin.”
The male salesperson beside her was stunned. He had thought he was the unlucky one—but…
Leng Keyan was fairly satisfied with Li Shishi’s tact. The coldness on his face eased.
He returned to his harmless, handsome demeanor and even nodded politely. “Thanks for your help today. You can go back to work.”
The passenger-side window rolled down, and Yin Siyao’s slightly impatient voice came from inside. “What are you dawdling for? Get in already. We’ve got things to do at home.”
Almost the moment the window lowered, a bright, sunny smile with a hint of ingratiation spread across Leng Keyan’s face.
His voice turned soft and pleasant. “Coming, coming! We’ll head home right away.”
Li Shishi stood there, watching the car drive off smoothly, finally letting out a breath of relief.
The male salesperson wiped the sweat from his forehead and muttered quietly, “That face-changing speed rivals a Sichuan opera master. Your old classmate is probably still in the dark.”
Li Shishi replied, “If you can fool someone for a lifetime, it’s not called deception.”
Inside the car, Yin Siyao leaned back and rubbed his temples. “What were you talking to Li Shishi about just now? Took you long enough.”
“Nothing much,”
Leng Keyan kept his eyes on the road, his voice soft, clearly ingratiating and obedient.
“What would I even have to talk to her about?”
“Just asked whether these clothes can be machine-washed. You look tired—take a nap. I’ll wake you when we get there.”
Meeting Leng Keyan’s clear and gentle gaze, Yin Siyao didn’t suspect a thing. “So… can they be machine-washed?”
Leng Keyan was momentarily at a loss, answering vaguely, “Probably… yeah.”
