The little milk dragon flew while gnawing away, eating with great relish, her face full of bliss. When she finally stuffed the last bite of lightning into her mouth, she let out a tiny milky hiccup and sighed sincerely, “So tasty!”
Ao Su: “……”
The little milk dragon flew a circle around Ao Su, looking him up and down, then landed on his shoulder.
“Daddy, does it hurt?”
Seeing her most beloved Daddy injured, bleeding, and looking extremely weak, Yinyin instantly exploded with anger. Her good mood from eating the treasure vanished without a trace. She fumed, “Daddy, don’t worry! Yinyin will help you get revenge!”
Her bristling, puffed-up appearance made the corner of Ao Su’s mouth lift slightly.
He reached out to steady the chubby little dragon, lifting her into his palm. He examined her carefully, his divine sense probing into her body. He discovered that not only had she suffered no harm from eating the lightning, there was now an extra mass of extremely powerful energy inside her body, obediently gathered within, slowly being refined bit by bit.
There wasn’t much time left for father and daughter to talk. The fourth bolt of lightning was swallowed whole by the little milk dragon, seemingly angering the Heavenly Dao. The fifth bolt came swiftly and ferociously. Before Ao Su could say anything, the little milk dragon charged up to meet it again.
This time, Ao Su’s heart finally eased a little. He sat cross-legged where he was, focusing intently as he watched.
From the sky came an extremely arrogant little milky voice: “Bad guy, you brought food for Yinyin again?”
Everyone froze. They saw the chubby little dragon howl and rush straight into the lightning tribulation once more. That bolt of lightning vanished without a trace.
The first time this happened, everyone had thought the little golden dragon had been blasted into nothingness. But now, no one thought that way anymore. They calmly stood and watched, and sure enough, the little golden dragon flew back up again, a purple lightning bolt clutched in her claws, stuffing it into her mouth bite by bite, chewing with great enjoyment.
“……”
One bolt after another—those domineering purple lightning bolts carrying destructive aura—all ended up inside the mouth of a tiny milk dragon, right up until the final bolt.
This was the last of the eighty-one lightning tribulations—the eighty-first bolt!
The sky darkened further. This bolt was blood-red! Its shape was even thicker and more massive than the previous purple bolts. The overwhelming pressure made it hard for everyone to breathe; some disciples with lower cultivation couldn’t even remain standing and were forced to kneel flat on the ground.
An elder from the Myriad Beast Sect, who knew a great deal about such matters, turned pale and muttered, “This makes no sense… I’ve never heard of the final bolt being blood-colored. Eighty-one bolts, nine times nine returning to one—the Ninefold Heavenly Thunder should all be purple. Where did this blood thunder come from? Why has it never been recorded?”
The higher one’s cultivation, the more terrifying this bolt felt. This single bolt was stronger than all of the previous eighty bolts combined. It was powerful enough to flatten half a continent!
If one were to be touched by even a tiny bit of it, their body and soul would likely be blasted into ashes!
“Not good! Retreat even farther!!!”
Yinyin stood beneath the blood thunder. She twitched her little nose and frowned. “Uncle System, this thunder doesn’t smell very tasty… it has a bad scent.”
The system was equally solemn. This bolt of lightning… seemed to be hiding something nasty inside?
Just as the system was considering whether to expend energy to help the little cub survive this tribulation, a golden inner core flew toward Yinyin. It slipped into her slightly open mouth and entered her body, warm and comforting.
Yinyin looked downward—it was clearly her Daddy’s!
Ao Su’s lips curved faintly as he mouthed silently, “Eggling, you can do it.”
That inner core contained all of a dragon’s cultivated power. If something unexpected happened, it would be enough to protect the eggling’s soul and allow her to survive safely.
With Ao Su’s vast experience, it was clear to him that the Heavenly Dao would not rest until he was dead. It had arbitrarily changed the final bolt of the Ninefold Heavenly Tribulation into a fatal blood thunder. Even among upper-realm immortals, few could withstand this bolt—and even if they survived, they would be severely crippled!
Ao Su’s strength in this plane was restricted to around the Great Ascension stage. Even though he was far stronger than an ordinary cultivator at that level and possessed a powerful physical body, he still fell short of an immortal. Now that he was injured, he didn’t even have the strength to reach his little cub’s side. He could only watch helplessly as she frowned slightly, stretched out her claws, and reached toward the blood thunder.
“Stinky thunder, watch this!”
Provoked by the chubby little dragon, the blood thunder roared angrily with a thunderous boom, surging forward and instantly engulfing Yinyin.
Everyone thought the little golden dragon surely wouldn’t survive this time. Compared to this blood thunder, all the previous bolts had been mere child’s play—this was blood thunder that even immortals couldn’t escape!
Time passed—longer than before—yet the chubby little dragon still didn’t appear clutching a bolt of lightning. Ao Su’s face went pale, until he remembered the inner core he had given the eggling, and only then did he calm down.
For a moment, everyone fell silent.
Alice screamed sharply, “Your Highness!”
The final bolt had already fallen. The tribulation should have ended and dispersed by now, but everyone waited and waited—the sky still hadn’t returned to normal and remained dark and heavy.
There was no sound from the little golden dragon either.
The believers could no longer wait. They flew over to Ao Su’s side. “Dragon Lord, where is the little Highness?”
Ao Su carefully sensed his inner core. There was no disturbance—instead, it felt as if something were gently warming it through a layer of separation. The warmth wasn’t intense, but a steady, gentle energy seeped in. Ao Su could feel his previously weakened inner core being nourished, slowly recovering.
Just then, a childish, milky voice filled with disgust sounded from beneath their feet: “Way too gross! How can you be so stinky?!”
Everyone looked down. The ground was rippling, as though something were desperately pushing upward. Finally, it burst out.
The chubby little Yinyin emerged, gripping the red blood thunder in both hands. She took a bite, frowned deeply, and looked utterly disgusted.
Everyone seemed to hear a shrill scream: “You damned little demon dragon! Quick—quickly release this venerable one!”
Yinyin’s chubby claws held tightly to the struggling blood thunder. She frowned curiously. “You can talk?”
“I—I am the Heavenly Dao! Little demon dragon, I order you to release me at once!”
Everyone gasped. “The Heavenly Dao?!”
“This venerable one is the Heavenly Dao! Why aren’t you all capturing this little demon dragon and helping me escape?!”
The cultivators hesitated, afraid to act. How could the Heavenly Dao look like this? This appearance… seemed far more like something from the demonic path.
Ao Su snorted coldly. “So it was you stirring trouble ten thousand years ago—and even today?”
Everyone was confused. What did Ao Su mean by that?
Before they could ask, the blood thunder had already been gnawed down by Yinyin to the size of a palm. The once-arrogant voice weakened, no longer daring to be so domineering, trembling as it begged, “Little demon—Little Dragon Lord, please, please let me go.”
“Magic General, no need to beg this little brat—we’ll save you!”
In an instant, a massive force descended from nowhere. A dark, dense crowd appeared, seemingly as numerous as the combined populations of the two continents present.
These beings were bizarrely dressed, with multicolored fur, human faces and beast bodies, grotesque and strange in every form. As soon as they landed, several of them charged straight at Yinyin.
Frightened by their appearances, Yinyin forgot her earlier disgust. Instinctively, she opened her mouth and swallowed the last remaining fragment of blood thunder in one gulp. She swallowed, smacked her lips—ugh, so nasty!
The charging alien beings: “……”
“Give back our Magic General!!! Damn brat, take your life!”
Only then did everyone react. They rushed forward, blocking Yinyin and intercepting the attacks.
At last, they understood—what Ao Su had meant by someone stirring trouble from ten thousand years ago until now wasn’t the Heavenly Dao at all, but that so-called Magic General!
These creatures were grotesque, reeking of foul aura. One glance told you they weren’t from their continent—far more like demons from another world.
Ao Su lifted Yinyin and held her protectively in his arms. Even though he was gravely injured, even though his cultivation was gone without his inner core, he still instinctively shielded the little cub.
This was almost a father’s instinct.
He stroked Yinyin’s head. “Don’t be afraid.”
Then he ordered, “Take the eggling back to the Dragon Palace. Open the mechanism beneath my bedchamber—there’s an underground palace below. She can hide there.”
The situation was worse than before. So many alien beings had appeared out of thin air on the Fantasy Continent—an all-out war was unavoidable.
This was no longer a personal vendetta, but a struggle between worlds—the entire continent against the invaders.
Yinyin rubbed her cheek against her father’s, softly calling, “Daddy.”
She opened her mouth, and the golden inner core glowing with gentle light flew out, returning into Ao Su’s body. Instantly, Ao Su felt a surge of vitality. His injuries began to heal at an astonishing speed.
Nurtured within Yinyin’s body, the inner core carried vibrant life force and immense energy, rapidly repairing the dragon’s wounds inch by inch, from the inside out. Soon, the injuries healed, scabbed over, and fell away—even the damage to his soul was swiftly restored.
Ao Su looked down at the little eggling in his arms.
Yinyin lifted her chubby little face and smiled sweetly, raising her tiny fist and waving it. “Daddy not scared! Daddy is awesome!”
“Yinyin will stay here and fight the bad guys with Daddy!”
Ao Su’s gaze grew deep. After a long silence, he laughed freely. “Alright.”
Who said his eggling wasn’t brave? That she was timid?
His eggling was braver than anyone in the world. So tiny, yet she dared face heavenly lightning head-on, dared cling to his neck amid an army of alien invaders and smile sweetly, saying she’d stay and fight alongside him.
This was his flesh and blood, his little dragon cub who inherited his noble bloodline and proud, powerful spirit!
At this moment, Ao Su’s heart overflowed with exhilaration and fulfillment. His decision ten thousand years ago to create the eggling in the midst of danger had been absolutely right.
“Charge! Kill the alien demon cultivators!”
Fueled by righteous fury, cultivators from both the Fantasy Continent and the cultivation continent surged forward, entangling themselves in fierce battle with the invaders.
At this moment, all personal grudges and all disputes between the two continents vanished. Everyone shared a single enemy—the alien beings who had invaded their land!
The crowd vaguely realized that it wasn’t the true Heavenly Dao that had been at odds with the evil dragon, but rather these alien beings masquerading as the Heavenly Dao, desperate to kill him.
With most of his strength restored, Ao Su casually swept his hand, felling number of enemies. He flew before the alien leader and said coldly, “Hand over this world’s Heavenly Dao.”
Ao Su wasn’t driven by righteousness, but he knew well that the Heavenly Dao was the foundation of a world. If a world’s Heavenly Dao were compromised, that world was effectively ruined.
With his insight, it was easy for Ao Su to piece everything together. From the time spiritual energy began thinning ten thousand years ago, to cultivators being unable to ascend, the Heavenly Dao had already gone wrong.
Most likely, the Heavenly Dao had been tampered with by these alien beings back then, which caused the decline of spiritual energy. Ao Su even suspected that the ascension pathways connecting to the upper realms had also fallen under their control—hence cultivators could reach the required level yet still be unable to ascend, forced to stagnate endlessly.
The only remaining question was this—
Why did these alien beings seem to be targeting him specifically?
They even played tricks and posed as gods, turning the entire continent’s cultivators against him!
