A crisp “smack” rang out, startling all the curious onlookers. The excitement of the day had been so intense that for a moment, they almost couldn’t tell if they were dreaming or if it was real.

The delicate little white rabbit had instantly transformed into a werewolf. And just as everyone was recovering from the shock of the transformation, the werewolf suddenly turned back into a little lamb?

At this moment, the little lamb was nestled in Ji Yi’s arms, performing a scene of tender affection for everyone—a newlywed couple’s sweet, lovey-dovey display!

Seeing them hugging so tightly, was something scandalous about to happen next? Everyone’s eyes widened in anticipation.

But at that moment, a crisp sound pierced the delicate silence. Everyone instinctively turned to see the uncle selling Yangchun noodles looking awkwardly at them, sheepishly saying, “H-hand slipped!”

Following his gesture, everyone saw what happened—he had accidentally broken a bowl! Some couldn’t help but laugh; they’d been scared silly just moments ago.

Ji Yi looked at him and smiled faintly, taking Zhu Jie’s hand. “Maybe we should head home first?” he said, slightly embarrassed.

Zhu Jie, already feeling embarrassed under everyone’s gaze, had no pride left. This wasn’t a performance, after all. Earlier, in the heat of anger, she hadn’t noticed, but now, seeing everyone’s prying and curious eyes, she felt completely uneasy.

She quickly put on a shy expression, softly murmuring her agreement before burying her head heavily against Ji Yi’s chest.

Just as Ji Yi was about to lead her away, the noodle stall owner suddenly shouted, “Wait!”

Huh? What now? Didn’t get enough entertainment? Was he unwilling to let them leave and wanted them to perform more?

Ji Yi and Zhu Jie froze for a moment, exchanging confused glances—and in each other’s eyes, they both saw equal surprise.

Then, the noodle stall owner stammered, “You… haven’t paid for the two bowls of Yangchun noodles yet!”

Upon hearing this, Zhu Jie and Ji Yi both burst out laughing, realizing what had happened. Zhu Jie generously reached into her sleeve, pulled out a silver coin, and slapped it onto the table with a smack, tossing her head confidently. “Count the change!”

The noodle stall owner nearly choked on his own saliva! Just now, seeing Zhu Jie’s confident air, he had thought she might say he didn’t need to give change. Who would’ve thought that a single silver coin would actually demand proper change?

Well, a poor person must have the awareness of a poor person, right? Zhu Jie said it matter-of-factly, hands on her hips, refusing to be outdone.

The noodle stall owner could only pull out some loose copper coins and count out a few for her. Zhu Jie picked them up, nodded in satisfaction, and finally looked content.

Seeing her suddenly transform back into the image of a common little citizen, the stall owner couldn’t help but sigh.

But then Zhu Jie took only a few steps forward and suddenly stopped, whipping her head back and staring at him with wide eyes. The noodle stall owner was utterly terrified! No way—wasn’t a sigh enough? Was she about to beat him up?

“Sister… I-I’m not scolding you!” the noodle stall owner hurriedly explained.

Zhu Jie didn’t say a word and marched straight toward him. Her gaze was unwavering, her expression cold and hard. In a flash, she was right in front of him, scaring the stall owner into crouching down, holding his head, trembling all over.

“Sister… I beg you, please don’t hit me!”

Before he could finish, Zhu Jie bent down, picked something up from the table, and turned back. The stall owner jumped in fright but didn’t dare stop her. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Zhu Jie, puzzled about what she was doing.

She held up a small oil-paper-wrapped package and happily shook it in front of Ji Yi. “The bun from before—you didn’t finish it. There’s still one left. Don’t waste it!”

Ji Yi looked at her in surprise. “Isn’t that yours?”

Zhu Jie blushed slightly, teasing, “You’re a man, you eat more. Two for you, one for me is enough!”

Hearing this from afar, the noodle stall owner slowly stood up, craning his neck to look. Sure enough, nothing had been left on the table. Just moments ago, he had thought Zhu Jie might grab a bowl and smash him with it, sweating cold bullets in fear!
