“Hey, did you see your wife?” Lu Anzhi walked over with a grin.
Ji Yì looked utterly glum. With a bitter expression, he said, “Not yet… maybe it’s too crowded, she’s being cautious.”
“So what are you going to do?” Lu Anzhi asked curiously.
“Wait until she’s alone,” Ji Yì replied gloomily.
“Alone? You’re not thinking of waiting until she goes to the outhouse, are you?” Lu Anzhi whispered, pointing discreetly to the nearby toilet. And yes, this wasn’t a modern bathroom—far from it.
Still, the Third Prince’s residence was somewhat advanced: men and women had separate toilets. Ji Yì was currently standing at the women’s entrance.
He was guarding the women’s toilet! No wonder Lu Anzhi was thinking that.
Unexpectedly, Ji Yì nodded seriously and said, “No choice… if there’s a chance, I’ll brave any danger!”
Hearing this, Lu Anzhi’s lips twitched. He gave Ji Yì a firm pat on the shoulder and said earnestly, “Good luck… but be careful not to get beaten!”
Ji Yì looked completely fearless, even confident: “Don’t worry, she won’t hit me.”
Heh. Lu Anzhi could only snort. Staying in front of the women’s toilet was dangerous—he didn’t want to be mistaken for a pervert like Ji Yì. So he scurried off.
Luck was on Ji Yì’s side. Before long, the Peace County Lady arrived, surrounded by a group of maids. Ji Yì barely had time to make out her figure before she went straight into the toilet.
Awkward situation aside, Ji Yì summoned his courage and leapt onto the roof above the toilet.
The light was dim, and his skills were excellent—no one noticed. Holding his breath, he crept closer and listened. Silence. Perfect, time to move!
He slipped through a gap in the roof into the small, dark space inside. He could vaguely make out a figure. Still, he excitedly called out: “Jié’er!”
The next moment, a sharp scream pierced the air: “Ah~~”
Then came a loud BANG! Ji Yì hadn’t even spoken when a wooden stick came flying at him squarely!
“Ah!” A muffled grunt escaped him as he crashed through the door—literally thrown out.
“H-help! A flower thief!” came a hysterical shout.
“It’s not that, Jie’er, it’s me, Ji Yì!” he shouted. But before he could continue, a storm of fists and kicks rained down. A group of young girls, with no personal grudge, attacked. His wife might even be among them! Ji Yì couldn’t fight back—he curled up, dodging punches as best he could, barely managing to shout a single sentence.
“Ji Yì? What Ji Yì? It’s you they’re hitting!” came a distant scolding voice, loud as if from the heavens. “Someone, catch the flower thief!”
At that moment, a male voice boomed: “Who’s there?” Oh, reinforcements had arrived!
Ji Yì grabbed his head and ran. Getting caught now would be mortifying! Amid the crowd, a man ran, head in hands, occasionally glancing back.
Unfortunately, all Ji Yì saw was the Peace County Lady—one hand covering her face, the other holding her skirt. Bad timing! He had to console himself with that.
“County Lady! County Lady, are you okay?” Several maids were panicking. Their mistress looked pale and terrified.
“Where did this scoundrel come from? He must have targeted our County Lady because she’s beautiful, coming to harass us again and again! Does he think no one’s watching the Wu’an Marquis residence?”
From afar, the Peace County Lady shouted: “If you come near me again, you’ll regret it, scoundrel!”
Alright, with that booming voice, she clearly wasn’t hurt.
