Huaihua watched as Ji Yi walked out of Zhu Jie’s room with two huge panda eyes hanging on his face. It had only just reached the time when the moon rose above the willow branches, yet Ji Yi already looked completely drained?
Huaihua couldn’t help widening her eyes. She had been here for several days now, and almost every single day she saw Ji Yi come out of Zhu Jie’s room with dark circles under his eyes.
What was even stranger was that the two of them actually slept in separate rooms at night. Still, Huaihua felt that if they didn’t sleep separately, Ji Yi might have already lost his life by now!
To be honest, she had quite a few opinions about this, but she couldn’t say anything directly to Zhu Jie. After all, they were newlyweds. Even if they went a little overboard, it was still their own business.
Seeing Ji Yi walking unsteadily toward his room, Huaihua quickly handed over the soup she had prepared.
“Brother Ji Yi, I specially stewed this for you. Drink some before you sleep!”
Look at her—so gentle, so considerate! Huaihua even felt proud of herself.
Ji Yi glanced at the bowl of soup and actually sighed.
“You should take it to Zhu Jie instead. She’s the one who needs something to soothe her throat right now.”
She needs to soothe her throat? Does that kind of thing involve the throat too? Could it be that they were… using their mouths?
“T-This was specially made for you. Hers is still in the kitchen,” Huaihua said softly.
Hearing that, Ji Yi finally took the bowl and drank while gulping.
“What kind of soup is this? It tastes pretty good.”
“Three Treasures Soup!” Huaihua said excitedly.
“Three Treasures Soup?” Ji Yi took another sip and savored it. “Tastes like meat soup.”
“Of course it counts as meat soup! I stewed it with dog treasure, donkey treasure, and pig treasure. I really used the best ingredients!” Huaihua said proudly.
“Pfft!”
Ji Yi couldn’t hold it in. The mouthful of soup he had just taken sprayed straight out.
No wonder he thought it had a strange smell! So they were those special organs? He… he had thought it was mutton!
“You gave this to me to drink?” Ji Yi stared at the bowl of Three Treasures Soup in shock. Fortunately, there weren’t any upright sticks floating in it, or he wouldn’t even know how violently he’d be vomiting.
“My mother said you replenish what resembles what!” Huaihua said regretfully. “These are all good things! It wasn’t easy for me to get them!”
Before she could finish speaking, Ji Yi stuffed the bowl back into her hands. The rich soup spilled all over the ground.
Ji Yi hurried toward his room as if fleeing. But after only a couple of steps, curiosity got the better of him. He turned back and asked:
“What soup did you prepare for Zhu Jie?”
“It’s also Three Treasures Soup,” Huaihua replied seriously.
“She doesn’t even have that thing—what are you nourishing her for?” Ji Yi protested immediately.
But Huaihua answered earnestly:
“Hers is kidney soup made with dog kidneys, donkey kidneys, and pig kidneys.”
“Kidney soup!” Ji Yi couldn’t help pursing his lips. “Not bad. Good stuff. Take it to her!”
Unexpectedly, his tone sounded highly approving.
Was he deliberately stirring up trouble? Unfortunately, Zhu Jie didn’t hear it, or she would definitely have made him taste the female Three Treasures Soup again.
Hearing this, Huaihua immediately nodded.
“I’ll go get it right now!”
With that, she really ran back to the kitchen.
Watching her serious expression, Ji Yi couldn’t help laughing.
Zhu Jie was feeling terribly thirsty when Huaihua came in carrying a bowl of soup.
“How did you know I was thirsty? Perfect timing!”
She took the bowl directly and gulped it down in big swallows.
Watching her drink like a bull, Huaihua asked curiously:
“Is it good?”
“It’s good—just a little fishy,” Zhu Jie said approvingly.
Hearing that, Huaihua sighed.
“My mother said if you like eating it, that means you need it! Sister, don’t blame me for talking too much. Women can’t handle that kind of thing either. You should rest when you need to!”
“How can we rest?” Zhu Jie sighed helplessly. “Ji Yi is about to take the Xiucai exam. Last time he barely passed at the very bottom of the list. If he doesn’t work hard next time, he’ll definitely be eliminated. I have to teach him properly!”
“Ah? You have to do that for the Xiucai exam too?” Huaihua looked at her in shock. “Then how do they test it? Aren’t the exam halls full of men?”
