After listening to Li Qingling, Liu Zhimou lowered his head to think for a moment and felt that this plan was feasible.

He lifted his head, cupped Li Qingling’s face in his hands, and kissed her lips. “Thank you, my wife, for helping your husband solve such a huge problem.” Tomorrow he would discuss it further with his master and gradually have it carried out.

Li Qingling smiled and said that all she could do was talk; the rest had to rely on him.

“My wife, you underestimate yourself. The way you talk is very effective.”

He had always known Li Qingling was intelligent, so he would tell her about his matters, hoping to get some insight from her.

It turned out his approach was right—she never failed to surprise him.

She was like a book you could never finish. Just when you thought you had reached her end, the next moment she would give you endless surprises.

He wanted to spend his whole life reading her, anticipating the unknown surprises she would bring.

Who doesn’t like compliments? Li Qingling liked them too. She coquettishly gave Liu Zhimou a glance. “You’re getting more and more charming with your words. You weren’t like this before.”

He used to be shy, blushing whenever she teased him. Now it was completely reversed—she was the one blushing from his teasing.

The tables had turned. She had been arrogant before, and now he was reclaiming the upper hand.

Liu Zhimou smiled gently at her. “Do you like me now, or the me from before?”

That was a trap question. Li Qingling’s eyes twinkled as she replied with a smile, “I like both.”

Whether it was the past him or the present him, it was still Liu Zhimou. She loved him all the same.

That little sly fox…

Liu Zhimou pinched her nose and asked if she wanted to go out for a walk to digest her meal, then come back to bathe and sleep.

Li Qingling rubbed her bulging belly and nodded helplessly. She had eaten too much; a walk would help digestion.

Liu Zhimou held her hand as they left the courtyard, slowly strolling around the residence.

Rare moments of leisure like this made Li Qingling relax. She chatted quietly and happily with Liu Zhimou.

It had been a long time since they had gone out like this. When staying at the Liu family residence, they never casually went out, to avoid gossip behind their backs.

Compared to living at the Liu residence, she preferred it here. There was less scheming and intrigue, and life could be more relaxed.

It seemed she had no great ambitions in life, no grand desires—just hoping her family could live safely and happily.

“Master, those two… Ah Huang and Ah Bai are back, at the back gate. Should we let them in, or…” A guard hurried over and respectfully asked Liu Zhimou.

They had heard a noise at the back gate, like something scratching. When the door was opened, they saw two large tigers sitting majestically at the entrance and nearly soiled themselves.

No one knew how those two tigers had found this place—they were seriously impressive.

Hearing that Ah Huang and Ah Bai had returned, Liu Zhimou and Li Qingling happily laughed and told the guards to lead them to see.

At the back gate, they saw a few guards staring unblinkingly at Ah Huang and Ah Bai, who, in return, glanced disdainfully at the guards, clearly not taking them seriously.

Li Qingling couldn’t help laughing and called out to Ah Huang and Ah Bai.

Seeing Liu Zhimou and Li Qingling arrive, Ah Huang and Ah Bai immediately stood up. Their movement startled the guards, who instinctively gripped the swords at their waists.

Liu Zhimou waved his hand. “Don’t worry, they won’t harm you.”

The guards: “…We were just concerned they might harm the masters. It’s not that we’re… scared.”

Well… okay, they admitted they were a little scared.

These two tigers were huge—how could they not be scared?

Even though the masters said the tigers wouldn’t harm anyone, they couldn’t help but feel tense!

Li Qingling looked at the guards and told them to step back a bit.

The guards exchanged glances and obediently retreated several steps, no longer blocking Ah Huang and Ah Bai.

Li Qingling gestured for the tigers to come in.

Ah Huang and Ah Bai strutted in, occasionally glancing at the guards with contempt, thinking them far too timid.

Li Qingling stepped forward, hugging Ah Huang and Ah Bai in turn, smiling. “I’m impressed you found your way home. Well done!”

Ah Huang raised his big head proudly. Such a simple task—of course, they could find their way back.

They had scouted the area; the back mountain was close, so they could sneak out anytime to explore.

This residence was excellent—close to the hills, allowing them to live at home and play in the mountains whenever they wanted. Two birds, one stone.

“Come, follow me. I’ll show you your rooms. See if you like them. If not, I’ll change them for you.”

Ah Huang and Ah Bai hadn’t expected to have rooms of their own—they thought they’d sleep outside!

Excited, they followed Li Qingling to see their rooms.

She arranged the rooms near the back gate for easy access.

She opened a door and led the way in, turning to ask Ah Huang and Ah Bai if they liked it.

The room had been cleaned but not decorated, looking quite empty.

But Ah Huang and Ah Bai nodded in satisfaction. This would be their room.

It was spacious enough; when Ah Bai had cubs, they could play in the room too.

Seeing they were pleased, Li Qingling smiled, telling them to rest well. If they went to the mountains, be careful not to scare outsiders—they might retaliate.

Ah Huang and Ah Bai nodded obediently.

Li Qingling patted their big heads and gave them a few more instructions before leaving.

She looked at the guards, reminding them not to fear Ah Huang and Ah Bai—they wouldn’t hurt anyone casually.

If they went out or returned, make sure to open the gate for them.

The guards responded, “Yes, understood.”

Li Qingling nodded, took Liu Zhimou’s hand, and left the backyard. She decided to gather the household servants tomorrow to explain this, so they wouldn’t accidentally keep Ah Huang and Ah Bai outside.

“Now you can rest easy, right? Ah Huang and Ah Bai can live here.”

Li Qingling smiled, finally relieved she didn’t have to worry about where the two tigers would stay.

Though the residence was a bit rundown, its location was excellent, allowing the tigers easy access outside.

“All right, let’s go back, bathe, and sleep.”

“All right…”

The next morning, Nian Xia excitedly ran over, telling Li Qingling that Ah Huang had dragged a deer back.

Li Qingling quickly washed up and ran to the back gate.

By the time she arrived, Li Qingfeng and the children were already there, praising Ah Huang. “Ah Huang is amazing! It caught a deer!”

“Ah Huang, did you go out again last night?”

Ah Huang turned toward Li Qingling and let out a hum, saying it had gone hunting with Ah Bai in the late night, bringing back a deer to supplement them.

It knew that after they went to the capital, they probably had little meat to eat and were getting thin.

Now that it was back, it decided to bring prey every day to help them stay nourished.

Li Qingling was moved, patting Ah Huang’s head and thanking it.

“Sister, can I… go play in the mountains?” Li Qingning asked, tempted by the deer, wanting to explore what food might be there.

Li Qingling shook her head. “No. This isn’t their familiar Niutou Mountain. There are unknown dangers. You can’t recklessly go up.”

Hearing this, Li Qingning sighed. She couldn’t go up the mountain—was she supposed to stay home all the time? That would be so boring.

Ah Huang felt for her. It told Li Qingling that once it had explored the mountain and driven off dangerous animals, Li Qingning could safely play there.

Li Qingning didn’t understand—it didn’t realize it was pleading with Li Qingling on her behalf.

Li Qingling tugged Ah Huang’s ear, warning it not to spoil Li Qingning too much, and to avoid fighting others head-on—protect itself.

Ah Huang snorted, shaking its big head. Who else is as impressive as me?

“Li Ah Huang…” Li Qingling said sternly, worried it might risk itself fighting other fierce beasts for pride.

She didn’t want to lose it.

Hearing her tone, Ah Huang realized she was angry.

It tried to appease her, rubbing against her with its big eyes and acting affectionate, promising to stay safe and avoid head-on confrontations.

It relied on intelligence, not brute force.

Li Qingling softened, hugging its head. “I’ll trust you this once. Don’t disappoint me. Think of us and Ah Bai—if something happened to you, what would we do? We’d be heartbroken!”

Ah Huang hummed twice, saying it would protect itself.

“Until you’ve cleared the dangers on this mountain, don’t bring Ah Bai into the deep mountains, understand?”

“Understood. Last night, I didn’t let Ah Bai into the deep mountains either; it waited for me outside.”

“Good. I trust you can protect Ah Bai.” Li Qingling praised Ah Huang.

Ah Huang grinned, nudged Li Qingling again, eager for her to handle the deer it had brought back.

Li Qingling knew its intentions—she told it to wait while she prepared some food.

Hearing that, Ah Huang happily hummed.

Li Qingling glanced at Li Qingning, leaning dejectedly on Ah Huang, and shook her head. She promised that in a while, she would take her up the mountain.

At this, the little one immediately lifted her head, eyes burning, and asked if it was really true.
