“Someone’s here,” Yi Fan said calmly.

Mu Xuelan looked at Yi Fan’s bloodthirsty eyes, a feeling of unease flashing through her mind.

Yi Fan stepped out of the hall and saw Yi Chuxue, pale-faced, trying to avoid the snakes that filled the courtyard.

“Yi Fan, you bastard! Come out!” Yi Chuxue yelled. “Yi Fan, you finally came out! Did you do this to my older and second brother? You damn bastard, may you die a miserable death!”

Yi Fan looked at Yi Chuxue, a faint, excited smile tugging at his lips.

“Little sister Chuxue, heaven gave you a path, yet you refused to walk it. Hell didn’t open its doors for you, and you chose to walk in anyway. You really are courting death.” Yi Fan waved his hand, and a massive snake, more than ten meters long, immediately coiled around Yi Chuxue.

“Yi Fan, what are you doing?”

The giant snake wrapped tightly around Yi Chuxue, tightening more and more. Her desperate screams echoed, chilling and horrifying. As the pressure continued, her cries faded, and she could no longer make a sound from suffocation.

“Yi Fan, are you going to kill her? After all, she’s your sister!” Xiang Lan exclaimed.

“Yes, she is my sister, but if people find out I killed her, it might not be good for my reputation. Perhaps I should silence you instead,” Yi Fan said suddenly, grabbing Xiang Lan by the neck and throwing her into the pile of snakes. In an instant, Xiang Lan was buried by the writhing mass of snakes.

“Yi Fan, what are you doing?” Mu Xuelan asked, her voice filled with emotion.

“I’m just playing a joke, telling her not to talk nonsense. She’s just a dirty girl who dares to speak out against me. What does she think she is?” Yi Fan said with a casual tone.

Mu Xuelan looked at the colorful snakes crawling over Xiang Lan’s body, a sense of horror creeping up her spine. However, the snakes were only crawling over her, not attacking.

The slimy snakes slid across Xiang Lan’s body, causing her to become unnervingly paranoid.

“You…”

Yi Fan turned to Mu Xuelan and asked, “Mu Xuelan, are you and your maid so close that you want to share life and death with her?”

Mu Xuelan’s nails dug into her palms as she was struck by a chill, realizing that in Yi Fan’s eyes, she wasn’t much different from Xiang Lan.

“Yi Chuxue is almost dead,” Mu Xuelan remarked. At first, Yi Chuxue had been shouting, but now her face had turned ashen, suffocating with a bluish tint.

“She should have died long ago,” Yi Fan replied.

Mu Xuelan remained silent.

“You old fool, if you don’t come out now, Yi Chuxue will really be dead,” Yi Fan called out.

The door was kicked open, and dozens of guards rushed into the courtyard.

Yi Fan stood with his hands behind his back, watching his father, Yi Xun, whose face was dark with fury. A light smile appeared at the corner of Yi Fan’s mouth as he said, “Ah, Father is here. I apologize for not welcoming you properly!”

Yi Xun glared at Yi Fan with hatred in his eyes. “Yi Fan, don’t you think what you’ve done is too much?”

“Is it? I really don’t think so,” Yi Fan replied indifferently.

Yi Xun looked at his son. “Even if your older and second brothers mistreated you, did you have to cripple their talents?”

“Father, you’ve misunderstood. It was I who dealt with second brother, but wasn’t it that little bitch, Yi Chuxue, who poisoned older brother? I’m just cleaning up the family for you. Shouldn’t you thank me?” Yi Fan said with a bright smile.

“You still claim that second brother’s poisoning was your doing? Where did that poison come from?” Yi Xun asked angrily.

“Father, you truly are sharp! That’s right, I was the one who indirectly sent the poison to second brother’s hands,” Yi Fan said, without any sign of regret.

“Where’s the antidote?”

“Father, there’s no need to waste your efforts. The time has passed. Even if there is an antidote, it’s useless now. But even if there were still time, I wouldn’t give it to you,” Yi Fan said indifferently.

Yi Xun looked at his son with disbelief. “How could you be so heartless?”

“I’m heartless? I’m just returning the favor,” Yi Fan replied coldly.

“Your magic aptitude couldn’t even be detected. Your martial talent has always been lacking. The family found out your talents weren’t great—that’s your fate! How can you blame your older and second brothers?” Yi Xun said sternly.

“Enough! Even now, you still want to deceive me? My martial talent was excellent from the start, but when I was born, Yang Man’s two sons had already been born. Yang Man bribed the servants of the Yi family to destroy my martial talent.”

“My talent was decent, and you were pleased. You’ve always favored that wretched woman, Yang Man. Without a valid excuse, you took those two bastards in and used my talent as the excuse.”

“Yang Man destroyed my martial talent, so I turned her two sons into true cripples. Doesn’t that seem fair?”

“You ungrateful son, you killed your mother and now you plot against your siblings!” Yi Xun barked angrily.

“Shut up, you old bastard. Ever since I was a child, you’ve always blamed me for my mother’s death. You’ve constantly told me I was the one who killed her. Let’s be honest, you’re just afraid of facing responsibility. You’re trying to make me the scapegoat.”

“How did mother really die? She found out that Yang Man was cheating on you, and Yang Man had her killed. It’s a pity that I was too insignificant to expose the truth. I’ve always wondered, is this little sister, Yi Chuxue, really your child?” Yi Fan tilted his head, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

“What nonsense are you speaking?” Yi Xun demanded.

Yi Fan shrugged. “What nonsense? You can go ask Yang Man. By the way, she and one of the young men around her look suspiciously like father and son, don’t you think?” Yi Fan grinned. “But never mind. I’m curious—why did you come to see me today?”

“You’ve done so much and still ask why I’m here?”

“I’ve done nothing wrong. The Hundred Schools Battle—everyone fought for the glory of the academy! Second brother entered the competition, so he should accept whatever result comes. As for older brother, if he and second brother are at odds, how does that concern me?” Yi Fan said dismissively.

“It’s your business. You’ll understand when you get to the Yi family’s Punishment Hall,” Yi Xun said coldly.

“I seem to remember that I’ve been expelled from the family. The Punishment Hall? I’m not interested in going,” Yi Fan replied.

“You don’t have a choice.”

“With these useless fools you’ve brought, I’m afraid they won’t be able to handle me.”

Yi Xun looked at Yi Fan and said, “Well! Well! I didn’t expect you to become so arrogant.”

“Old fool, what do you think you are? It’s too late for you to try to control me,” Yi Fan coldly replied.

Mu Xuelan looked at Yi Fan, feeling an absurd sense of disbelief. She had always thought Yi Fan lacked vigor, but now, she found him utterly arrogant. She felt as though she was meeting Yi Fan for the first time.

Yi Xun stared at Yi Fan, annoyed, “You…”

“Capture him!” Yi Xun ordered coldly.

Yi Xun smirked and suddenly floated backward. There was an explosion in the courtyard, and thick smoke filled the air. A dizzying feeling swept over them. The smoke was toxic, and Mu Xuelan’s mind flashed with concern.

Yi Xun grabbed Mu Xuelan and threw her out of the courtyard like a sandbag.

Qi Shaorong, who had arrived near Yi Fan’s residence, saw Mu Xuelan flying out.

“Miss Mu, are you alright?” Qi Shaorong asked, looking at the disheveled Mu Xuelan.

Mu Xuelan shook her head. “I’m fine.”

Mu Xuelan glanced at Qi Shaorong and then at Zhuang Hao, unable to resist commenting, “Young Master Qi and Young Master Zhuang seem to have a very close relationship, always together.”

Qi Shaorong smiled and said, “Miss Mu, you’re joking. Zhuang Hao and I are just ordinary friends. What’s going on inside?”

Mu Xuelan took a deep breath and said, “Yi Xun brought the Yi family’s family guards here.”

Qi Shaorong grimaced. “That bastard Yi Xun. Does he have eighth-level guards with him?”

Mu Xuelan shook her head. “No.” Even the four great families of the imperial capital had high-ranking eighth-level experts, who were not easily mobilized.

Qi Shaorong shrugged. “Then it’s fine. Yi Fan’s poison skills are formidable. Below eighth-level, it’s hard to counter.”

The Yi family’s door opened, and two people were thrown out. “It’s Yi Xun and Yi Chuxue.”

“Did he kill all the guards?” Zhuang Hao asked involuntarily.

Qi Shaorong shook his head. “I don’t know.”

“Xiang Lan is still inside,” Mu Xuelan said hesitantly.

Qi Shaorong furrowed his brows. “I’ll go take a look.”

Qi Shaorong entered the house and saw the guards inside, lying in disarray. “What happened to them?” Qi Shaorong asked Yi Fan.

“They’re poisoned,” Yi Fan replied.

Qi Shaorong nodded. “I see.”

He looked at Yi Fan and asked, “Afan, are you okay?”

“I’m fine! It’s not me who’s in trouble,” Yi Fan said indifferently.

Mu Xuelan moved aside and helped Xiang Lan up. Xiang Lan’s hair was disheveled, and her face was filled with terror. When she saw Mu Xuelan, she immediately hid behind her.

“Yi Fan, what happened to Xiang Lan? Is she poisoned?” Mu Xuelan asked.

Yi Fan shrugged. “I don’t know. She’s probably scared stiff. Tsk tsk, the little girl was so arrogant and domineering usually, but when it’s time to act, she froze. With that little courage, it’s really disappointing.”

Mu Xuelan looked at Xiang Lan, who was cowering and staring at Yi Fan with eyes full of fear.

Mu Xuelan couldn’t help but feel regretful for coming to see Yi Fan today. This guy was clearly insane. It was no wonder Xiang Lan had always thought Yi Fan was soft.

“Yi Fan, can I…”

“Take your maid and leave. The courtyard is filled with toxic gas. If you stay too long and get poisoned, I can’t guarantee you’ll be fine,” Yi Fan coldly interrupted.

Mu Xuelan bit her lip and, with Xiang Lan, turned to leave.

Qi Shaorong looked at Yi Fan and said, “Afan, you really don’t understand how to cherish a woman.”

Yi Fan replied irritably, “I don’t like her. Why should I cherish her?”

Qi Shaorong was speechless. “… Yi Fan was so clueless about these things. He’d probably never be able to win over Ting Xuan in his lifetime.”
