The Rebirth Waste Strikes Back 9 min read 81 of 262 20

Tianlan Academy covered a vast area. As Qi Shaorong walked to the academy’s plaza, he saw an eighth-level elder from the Qi family coming towards him, with Qi Shaofu, who looked somewhat embarrassed, following behind.

Qi Shaorong coldly raised the corner of his mouth, thinking to himself, “After waiting for so long, the Qi family is finally ready to tear their face off.”

“Fourth Young Master, the Elder asks you to return to the Qi family.” Qi Yuan stepped in front of Qi Shaorong and said.

Qi Shaorong looked him up and down and asked, “I am no longer part of the Qi family. I don’t deserve to be called ‘Fourth Young Master’ by you. As for returning to the Qi family, I think that’s out of the question. I’m perfectly fine staying at the academy, and I have no interest in going back to the Qi family.”

“Fourth Young Master, the previous misunderstanding can be cleared up. Why be so stubborn?” Qi Yuan said.

Qi Shaorong, somewhat impatient, responded, “Enough with the nonsense. I’ve said I won’t go back, and I won’t. What are you going to do about it?”

Qi Yuan looked at Qi Shaorong and said, “Fourth Young Master, since you’re so stubborn, I’ll have to offend you!”

Qi Shaorong coldly laughed and said, “Old man, my mood isn’t good right now. Why do you have to provoke me at this time? Are you asking for a beating?”

Li Hong, who had been watching the situation, couldn’t help but furrow his brows and thought to himself, “The principal’s disciple is really arrogant. Qi Yuan is a big shot in the Qi family, and yet Qi Shaorong is being so rude to him. If Qi Shaorong really goes back to the Qi family, things aren’t going to go well for him.”

Qi Yuan’s face darkened, and he said, “Fourth Young Master, I apologize.”

Qi Shaorong coldly smiled, waved his hand, and threw a bundle of magical scrolls at Qi Yuan.

Qi Shaofu, watching this move, couldn’t help but feel envious. He thought, “Fourth Brother is so cool! Throwing this bundle of scrolls, it must be worth close to ten thousand gold coins. Fourth Brother really is rich!”

Qi Yuan was struck by the scrolls and stumbled back two steps, his expression even darker than before.

“Fourth Young Master, the family head just wants you to return. Why get so worked up?” Qi Yuan said.

Qi Shaorong raised his magic staff and said, “Old man, stop talking. I won’t go back. If you want to force me, show me if you have the ability.”

Qi Yuan: “…”

Qi Shaofu had originally wanted to say something to persuade him, but seeing the dark aura surrounding Qi Shaorong, which was full of killing intent, he swallowed his words.

“Since Fourth Young Master has said so, there’s nothing more I can do.” Qi Yuan said coldly.

Qi Yuan raised his hand, and a bunch of vines shot towards Qi Shaorong, wrapping around him. Qi Shaorong waved his staff, and dark elements surged, his clothes, made of crystal stones, enhancing his magic. For a moment, the two were at a stalemate.

In the sky, the blue and black magic clashed continuously. Many students from Tianlan Academy gathered from afar, watching the spectacle with great interest.

Li Hong, watching Qi Shaorong and Qi Yuan fight, couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

“Vice Principal, this Qi student has quite a fiery temper!” said one of the instructors nearby.

Before the instructor finished speaking, Qi Shaorong threw another bundle of scrolls.

“The principal’s disciple isn’t just hot-tempered; he’s also wasteful! All that money he’s throwing around!”

“Our principal’s disciple really is a rich man!” Li Hong said enviously.

“The principal really hid such a powerful disciple and didn’t let on, leaving me to bet on Shenghuang Academy’s victory, losing everything.” The instructor beside Li Hong sighed.

Li Hong shook his head in frustration and said, “You’re a teacher at this academy and you bet on another academy’s victory? Don’t you have any sense of school pride?”

The instructor blinked and said, “Vice Principal, don’t just blame me! I know for a fact you also bet on Shenghuang Academy winning!”

Li Hong: “…” How could it be his fault? As far as he knew, Principal Hu Feng originally wanted to bet on Shenghuang Academy’s victory too, but Hu Feng suddenly changed his mind. The old man wasn’t honest!

“He didn’t even give them a hint before changing his mind.”

“Qi Shaorong’s magical power is really abundant!” Li Hong said, his face reddening.

“Yes! Qi Shaorong is using all his big moves. Tsk, although he has top-tier spiritual power, with such recklessness, he’ll run out of mana soon.” The instructor beside Li Hong said, looking quite troubled.

Li Hong furrowed his brows and said, “It’s probably the result of the contract with Zhuang Hao, that blow must have been too much for him, and Qi Yuan showing up at the wrong time really put him on edge.”

The dark sky, the dark robe prison, and the shadowy divine splendor… Qi Shaorong unleashed a series of powerful attacks, and even though Qi Yuan was an eighth-level mage, he could only passively defend.

Qi Shaorong bombarded Qi Yuan with hundreds of attacks before finally pausing.

“Vice Principal, it seems like Qi Shaorong’s magic power is exhausted.”

Li Hong rolled his eyes and said, “Finally exhausted! Only Qi Shaorong could last this long before running out of mana. If it were another level-six mage, they would’ve exhausted their mana ages ago!”

Qi Yuan, straightening his posture after being forced into passive defense for so long, couldn’t hide the displeasure on his face. Seeing Qi Shaorong’s exhaustion, Qi Yuan finally had a chance to catch his breath.

“Fourth Young Master, all we wanted was for you to return to the Qi family, yet it feels like we were asking you to go into a den of dragons and tigers.” Qi Yuan said.

Qi Shaorong sneered and said, “What are you? Do you think I’m someone you can just summon whenever you please?”

Qi Yuan coldly sneered and said, “I didn’t expect you to be so uncultured outside, Fourth Young Master. You really are embarrassing the Qi family.”

Qi Shaorong sneered again and said, “Idiot, do you think… you’ve got me?”

Golden light suddenly burst from Qi Shaorong’s body. He raised a finger, and a Light Unicorn leapt out of his spirit beast pouch. The moment the unicorn appeared, a wave of gasps spread through the crowd.

As the saying goes, “Things resemble their master.” The Light Unicorn wore a crystal armor, sparkling with golden light. It had large bows on its ears, adorned with priceless blood gems, and a big red flower tied to its horn, made from precious blood gold. The unicorn was practically a walking gold mine.

When the unicorn appeared, it stunned all the students present, and the extravagant outfit it wore left everyone speechless.

“Xiaohua, charge at him and knock him out!” Qi Shaorong pointed at Qi Yuan, exuding an overwhelming aura.

The unicorn cried out and kicked its hooves, charging toward Qi Yuan.

Qi Yuan’s expression changed dramatically.

However, Qi Yuan’s reaction was swift. He quickly erected a wall of vines as a barrier.

The unicorn broke through eighteen of the vine walls before finally being stopped by the nineteenth.

The unicorn pounded the vine wall fiercely, and its bow-tied ears fluttered in the wind, creating a tense yet somewhat comical scene.

After failing to break the last wall, the unicorn turned and ran back to Qi Shaorong, looking quite aggrieved.

“Vice Principal, am I seeing things? Why do I sense light magic elements from Qi Shaorong?” The instructor beside Li Hong’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Li Hong furrowed his brows and said, “You’re not seeing things. I can feel it too. I can’t believe it. During the Hundred Schools Competition, Qi Shaorong actually hid his true power.” He had thought that Qi Shaorong had already reached his limits in that competition, but now…

Qi Shaorong kicked the unicorn, “You useless thing, you look good but don’t work well, and you eat so much.”

The unicorn groaned unhappily.

Qi Shaofu, watching all of this, felt a bad premonition rise in his heart and said, “Fourth Brother, show some mercy.”

Qi Shaorong’s eyes glowed in contrasting colors—one black, one white—and a violent surge of magical energy, like a tornado, flew toward Qi Yuan. The dark and light magic elements collided as Qi Shaorong forced them together, their mutual repulsion causing a tremendous explosion when they hit Qi Yuan. The impact sent Qi Yuan flying.

The students watching from the sidelines cheered loudly when they saw Qi Yuan being sent flying.

Qi Yuan spat out blood and collapsed to the ground.

“Who dares to make trouble at Tianlan Academy? Get out here!” A thunderous voice rang out.

Qi Yuan, lying on the ground, felt a surge in his heart when he heard the voice and spat another mouthful of blood.

Principal Hu Feng hurried to the academy and saw Qi Yuan lying unconscious on the ground, barely alive.

“Disciple, are you okay?” Hu Feng walked to Qi Shaorong and asked.

Before Qi Shaorong could hide his aura, his eyes were glowing in unusual colors. The light and dark magical elements swirled around him, and Hu Feng stared at him in shock, his mind exploding.

Hu Feng suddenly recalled when Zhuang Ling had asked him if anyone could master both light and dark magic, and he had dismissed it as impossible. But now, his disciple was showing just that.

Qi Shaorong glanced toward Hu Feng, his brows involuntarily furrowing. Hu Feng didn’t come alone; behind him, there was someone from Shenghuang Academy, and… Zhuang Hao.

Zhuang Hao stared at Qi Shaorong, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Amid the intense battle, Qi Shaorong’s hair tie snapped, and his black hair cascaded over his shoulders. The two different magical elements flowing around him gave off a mesmerizing, otherworldly beauty, creating an aura of peerless charm.

Zhuang Hao stared at Qi Shaorong, still in shock.

Qi Shaorong lowered his gaze and shifted his attention elsewhere.

The unicorn, seeing Zhuang Hao, perked its ears excitedly, wanting to run over to him. However, it was kicked by Qi Shaorong and lay down again.

“Master, someone came to the academy to cause trouble, but I’ve already knocked them down.” Qi Shaorong said.

Hu Feng smiled and said, “Disciple, you’re really amazing!”

“It’s nothing.” Qi Shaorong humbly replied.

“Master, I’ll take my leave now.” Qi Shaorong turned and walked away.

“Oh, alright…”
