TRWSB – Chapter 50 Expelled from the Family

The Rebirth Waste Strikes Back 5 min read 50 of 262 63

The rumor that Qi Shaorong was being “kept” by the Evil Doctor spread like wildfire in the academy.

Unperturbed, Qi Shaorong spent his days hiding out in the library’s special section, unaffected by the storm of gossip around him.

However, the news soon reached the Qi family, throwing them into an uproar.

The family elders, enraged at the disgrace brought to their name, unanimously called for Qi Shaorong’s expulsion. By the time he was still napping at the academy, the family had already reached a decision. He was to be expelled, and so he was ousted from the Qi family in his sleep.

Qi Shaofu looked at Qi Shaoru with a frown. “Shaoru, was it you who spread the rumor about Shaorong being kept by the Evil Doctor?”

“It wasn’t me! Why would I spread something like that for no reason?” Qi Shaoru retorted, holding her head high.

“This matter was only known to you and me. If it wasn’t you, then are you saying it was me?” Qi Shaofu asked coldly.

Qi Shaoru snapped, “Third Brother, what’s wrong with you? Instead of siding with me, you’re taking a useless person’s side?”

“I just think your actions were dishonorable,” Qi Shaofu replied gravely.

“Even if I did spread it, what’s wrong with that? It’s true, isn’t it? He himself admitted it—he said he was being kept. Am I falsely accusing him?” Qi Shaoru said defiantly.

Qi Shaofu frowned. “Maybe it wasn’t like that. He might’ve been joking in a moment of anger.”

“Look at the dorm he lives in! A thousand gold coins per year! If he’s not being kept, where would he get that kind of money? Forget his lack of ability—he’s also so shameless. Our Qi family has already been more than kind to him,” Qi Shaoru said dismissively.

“Now Shaorong’s been expelled. Are you satisfied?” Qi Shaofu asked.

“What does his expulsion matter? He had it coming! Because of him, our family has been ridiculed so much. Are you pitying him now?” Qi Shaoru retorted coldly.

Qi Shaofu sighed, unwilling to argue further. “I’m not going to talk to you anymore.”

Watching her brother walk away, Qi Shaoru stomped her foot in frustration. “Third Brother, you’re such an idiot!”

Her clenched fists trembled as she seethed inwardly. “Qi Shaorong is just trash. Why should he live so well? Now that his real face is exposed, he still has Qi Shaofu backing him.”

Tianlan Academy

When Qi Shaorong left the library, he saw Qi Shaofu waiting for him in his dormitory.

“Third Brother, what brings you here?” Qi Shaorong asked.

Qi Shaofu gave him an uncomfortable look. “I’m here to deliver the family’s decision.”

Qi Shaorong’s face remained calm. “Oh? Let me see.”

“Expelled from the family registry? Is this real?” Qi Shaorong asked, skimming the document.

Qi Shaofu nodded with difficulty. “It’s true. But don’t be too upset. I think this might not be irreversible. If you go back and apologize to Father, maybe…” His voice trailed off, unsure of his own suggestion.

Qi Shaorong chuckled. “Upset? Why should I be upset?”

In this world, being expelled from one’s family often meant being looked down upon. But it also meant freedom—any future success would no longer be tied to the family.

“Getting expelled means I won’t have to share any future wealth. That’s a good thing!” Qi Shaorong said with a grin.

With hundreds of thriving Allure Cosmetics shops in his portfolio, Qi Shaorong had always worried that if his ownership were exposed, the family would confiscate everything under the guise of family interests. But now, this notice freed him from those concerns.

Qi Shaofu scrutinized his younger brother’s face but found no trace of forced cheerfulness.

“Fourth Brother, are you… happy about being expelled?” Qi Shaofu asked, bewildered.

Qi Shaorong laughed. “Third Brother, what are you saying? Getting expelled isn’t exactly good news. Why would I be happy?”

Qi Shaofu nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Being expelled is no good at all.”

Qi Shaorong: “…”

“There’s a rumor outside that you’re being kept by the Evil Doctor. I’m guessing Zhuang Hao might come looking for you,” Qi Shaofu said.

“Why would Zhuang Hao come looking for me?” Qi Shaorong asked, puzzled.

“Because Zhuang Hao likes the Evil Doctor. Naturally, he’ll want to confront you, his love rival,” Qi Shaofu said without hesitation.

“Does Zhuang Hao really like the Evil Doctor?” Qi Shaorong asked, his expression unreadable.

“Of course!” Qi Shaofu affirmed.

Qi Shaorong shook his head slightly. “One day, Zhuang Hao might realize he doesn’t actually like the Evil Doctor. What he likes is just an illusion.”

“Zhuang Hao isn’t that kind of person. Fourth Brother, even if you’re no longer part of the family, I’m still your elder brother. If you need anything, come to me,” Qi Shaofu said earnestly.

“Great, Third Brother. I actually do need something from you right now,” Qi Shaorong said, beaming.

Qi Shaofu suddenly had a bad feeling. “What do you need?”

“I’m short on funds. Could you lend me some?”

“How much?”

“One hundred thousand.”

“In gold coins?”

“Of course. Who wants silver coins?”

Qi Shaofu’s face turned pale as he held up two trembling fingers. “Your third brother’s monthly allowance is only two hundred gold coins.”

Qi Shaorong laughed. “Relax, Third Brother. I was just joking.”

Qi Shaofu: “…” This joke is a bit much, don’t you think?
