Shen Yuan furrowed his brows and lowered his voice to speak to Zhuang Qian, “A-Qian, why did you bring this guy here?”
Zhuang Qian’s eyes lit up, “The Evil Doctor is famous. Maybe he can help.”
Shen Yuan: “…” The Evil Doctor was indeed famous, but…
“But he’s a plastic surgeon. His specialties are liposuction and skin surgery. He’s not exactly skilled at treating illnesses,” Shen Yuan said.
Zhuang Qian nodded. “But those skilled in medicine haven’t been able to do anything! Maybe the Evil Doctor can figure something out.”
Qi Shaorong, with his arms crossed, studied the group. “Are you all done discussing? If you need me to treat the patient, take me to them. If not, I’ll be on my way. You should know, the line of noblewomen in the capital waiting to see me could stretch all the way to the city gate. I’m a very busy man.”
Zhuang Qian quickly grabbed Qi Shaorong’s sleeve. “We need you, we need you.”
Zhuang Qian looked pleadingly at Zhuang Hao. After a few moments of sizing up Qi Shaorong, Zhuang Hao said, “In that case, we will trouble the Evil Doctor.”
Qi Shaorong smiled, “It’s no trouble at all.”
Following Zhuang Hao and the others, Qi Shaorong entered a quiet courtyard. Zhuang Renquan had been ill for a long time and was resting in seclusion, so there were few people around.
“Uncle,” Zhuang Hao called softly.
Zhuang Renquan turned his head to look at the group at the door and managed to smile faintly.
When Qi Shaorong saw Zhuang Renquan, he couldn’t help but whistle. “Master Zhuang, you look fantastic! I’ve just found another template for my future cosmetic surgeries.”
As soon as Qi Shaorong spoke, Shen Yuan couldn’t help but cover his face.
“Shen Yuan, just because you’re not as handsome as Master Zhuang doesn’t mean you need to hide your face. People might think you’re too ashamed to show yourself,” Qi Shaorong said with exaggerated sincerity.
Shen Yuan: “…”
Zhuang Renquan managed a small smile. Due to his long illness, his face was pale as snow, and his body had become frail. However, Zhuang Renquan’s looks were exceptional, and even in his weakened state, his stunning appearance couldn’t be hidden. Qi Shaorong couldn’t help but marvel at the superior genetics of the Zhuang family.
“The Evil Doctor?” Zhuang Renquan looked at Qi Shaorong and asked.
“Has Master Zhuang heard of me?” Qi Shaorong asked.
“Of course, I’ve heard of the famous Evil Doctor,” Zhuang Renquan replied.
“I’m honored!” Qi Shaorong said with a smile.
After taking Zhuang Renquan’s pulse, Zhuang Qian hurriedly approached Qi Shaorong and asked, “Senior Evil Doctor, have you found anything?”
Qi Shaorong glanced at Zhuang Qian, and Zhuang Renquan frowned slightly. “Qian’er, don’t be so reckless,” Zhuang Renquan scolded.
Zhuang Qian immediately shrank back at his uncle’s reprimand.
Qi Shaorong exchanged a look with Qi Heng, who quickly handed over an instrument. Qi Shaorong scanned Zhuang Renquan’s brain and said, “Just as I suspected.”
Zhuang Qian, eager, asked, “What did you find, Senior Evil Doctor?”
Qi Shaorong looked around at the group and said, “Let’s discuss it outside.”
Once outside, Zhuang Hao asked, “Is my uncle’s condition that bad?”
Qi Shaorong nodded, “It’s not good. After examining him, I’ve found that your uncle has a brain tumor.”
“You might not be familiar with tumors. Simply put, they’re toxic growths that can spread. From what I understand, you’ve had several Light-element mages use Holy Light magic on him. While Holy Light is great for healing many external injuries, it’s not a cure-all.”
“Holy Light magic can actually stimulate tumor growth. If I’m not mistaken, the stronger the mage, the worse your uncle’s condition became after treatment.”
Zhuang Qian jumped to his feet, “That’s exactly what happened!”
Zhuang Hao looked at Qi Shaorong and asked, “Is there anything you can do, Evil Doctor?”
Qi Shaorong met Zhuang Hao’s gaze. “I have a method, but you may not be willing to accept it.”
“Please, tell us,” Zhuang Hao requested.
Qi Shaorong shrugged. “There’s only one way. I’ll have to open up your uncle’s skull and remove the tumor.”
Zhuang Qian’s eyes widened in alarm. “Open up his skull? Isn’t that extremely risky?”
Qi Shaorong nodded. “Not just risky—extremely risky. You know, all surgeries come with risks. There’s a high chance your uncle could die during the operation.”
Zhuang Hao stared at Qi Shaorong. “What are the chances of success?”
“Thirty percent,” Qi Shaorong replied.
“Only thirty percent?” Zhuang Hao asked.
Qi Shaorong nodded again. “Yes, that’s right.”
In the previous world, a case like Zhuang Renquan’s would be considered terminal and untreatable. But in this world, people’s healing abilities were much stronger, which was why Qi Shaorong even proposed this option.
Looking at the group, Qi Shaorong said, “I imagine you won’t be able to decide right away. Discuss it amongst yourselves, and once you’ve made a decision, let me know if you want me to proceed.”
“A-Heng,” Qi Shaorong called. Qi Heng swiftly handed over a few agreements.
“If you decide to proceed, please sign these agreements,” Qi Heng said.
Shen Yuan glanced at the agreements and couldn’t help but frown. “This says that if we ask you to operate, the Zhuang family can’t hold you accountable if it fails. Regardless of the outcome, you’ll be paid ten thousand gold coins. If it succeeds, you’ll be paid an additional thirty thousand coins.”
Qi Shaorong nodded. “That’s right, exactly.”
