When Qi Shaorong returned to his dormitory, Qi Heng promptly handed him a letter. “Young Master, a letter from the Qi family has arrived. They’re asking you to return home.”

Qi Shaorong glanced at the letter in his hand and scoffed. “They ignored me for ten years, but now that that fat fool has gotten himself into trouble, they’re calling me back? Does this mean that I, a legitimate heir of the Qi family, am worth less than a useless branch family idiot?”

Qi Heng looked at him and asked, “Young Master, will you go back?”

“Just tell them I’m busy. Let them stew for a couple of days,” Qi Shaorong replied indifferently.

Qi Heng nodded. “Understood. Young Master, will you be going to the library today?”

Qi Shaorong’s expression darkened. “No. That principal is an absolute scoundrel. It seems there’s no way around paying up if I want access.”

“Is there an issue with the books in the library?”

Qi Shaorong rubbed the teacup in his hand and said, “The library is divided into three zones. The first is the general area, accessible to all students. It’s filled with common books—things about cooking, petty drama tactics, and crafting projects. It’s a hodgepodge, with very few valuable titles. Most of it is just for show.”

“The second area is the advanced section. Only a few outstanding students and some instructors can access it. To enter, you need to submit an application and pay a fee. This section is further divided into zones, with access levels differing for instructors and students.”

“The third area is the elite section, housing extremely rare and valuable books, many of which are unique copies. It’s said there are even personal notes from saint-level powerhouses. Only the principal and a select few can access this section.”

“From the looks of it, the elite section is out of the question for now. But the advanced section is worth considering.”

Qi Heng regarded him and asked, “If you submit an application, it’s unlikely to be approved, isn’t it?”

Qi Shaorong nodded. “Exactly. But at Tianlan Academy, just about anything can be negotiated with gold coins. It seems I’ll have to pay the principal another visit.”

“It seems it’ll cost you quite a bit,” Qi Heng said.

Qi Shaorong sighed, a hint of frustration in his voice. “Tell me about it. But you can’t catch wolves without sacrificing sheep—it’s just something that has to be done.”

“Young Master, you earn so much gold. Every now and then, you should indulge yourself a little.”

Qi Shaorong smiled faintly. “True enough. After all, money is meant to be spent.”When Qi Shaorong met with Hu Feng, the principal appeared surprised. “Student Qi, we meet again. What brings you here this time?”

“I’d heard even before coming here that Tianlan Academy’s library is the largest in the country, filled with countless treasures. But after visiting it, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed…”

Hu Feng chuckled nonchalantly. “Student Qi, the academy does have many excellent books. However, access comes at a cost. Things that are too easily obtained are not cherished. Don’t you agree?”

Qi Shaorong nodded. “Of course. I’ve heard that the advanced section has some remarkable books.”

“You’re well-informed! That’s correct—the advanced section has many precious volumes. Our academy’s collection far surpasses that of Shenghuang Academy. That old relic running Shenghuang has been trying to buy our library for years. Wishful thinking!”

“Student Qi, if you’d like to access the advanced section, you can submit an application. The instructors will process it accordingly.”

Qi Shaorong pulled out a money card and placed it on the desk, sliding it toward Hu Feng with his middle finger. “I’m well aware of the academy’s rules. Here are 100,000 gold coins. Principal, I’d really like to explore the advanced section and experience the true essence of Tianlan Academy’s library. I wonder if you could grant me this favor?”

Hu Feng picked up the money card, clearly surprised. “Student Qi, your little business ventures must be quite lucrative! Even Qi Shaokang, one of the Seven Beauties of the Qi Family in the capital, wouldn’t be this generous.”

“My siblings are lucky—they can rely on our father’s wealth. I have to fend for myself, so naturally, I’m different from them. While my father is rich, he has many wives and children to support. The more mouths to feed, the less there is for each of us,” Qi Shaorong explained.

“That’s certainly true,” Hu Feng agreed, nodding. “Here is a library card for the advanced section. With this card, you can access any part of the advanced zone. Take good care of it.”

Qi Shaorong nodded in gratitude. “Thank you, Principal.”

“No need to thank me. These days, students don’t value reading much. If we had more students like you, the academy’s overall quality would improve significantly,” Hu Feng said.

Qi Shaorong stood up and smiled. “For those of us lacking talent, reading more books is the only way to broaden our horizons. Principal, I’ll take my leave now.”

Hu Feng nodded. “Go ahead. Take care of your matters.”

Qi Shaorong left the principal’s office with the library card in hand.

As soon as he stepped out, Qi Heng approached him. “Young Master, Miss Qi has arrived.”

Qi Shaorong narrowed his eyes. “So just because I didn’t go home, she decided to come to me? Let’s go see what she wants.”
