Tianlan Academy.
“Master Zhuang, you absolutely made the right decision choosing our Tianlan Academy. We have strong faculty and can definitely give your son the best education,” Hu Feng said with a beaming smile.
Zhuang Hao returned the smile and replied, “From now on, I’ll have to trouble you to take care of A-Yun, Principal.”
Hu Feng nodded enthusiastically. “Rest assured, rest assured.” He thought to himself: While it’s Zhuang Hao who handles matters externally, it’s clear that he still defers to Qi Shaorong in the end.
“Little one, do you have any requests?” he asked.
Zhuang Yun coldly raised his eyes. “I want to be in the same class as Yi Ming.”
Hu Feng paused for a moment, then said, “Of course, of course.” He thought: Zhuang Yun and Yi Ming grew up together—it makes sense they’d want to stay together. Ever since Yi Ming joined Tianlan Academy, Zhuang Yun followed soon after.
Zhuang Yun was led into a classroom by a teacher.
Inside the classroom, a teacher was teaching calligraphy. A group of young children held brushes, scribbling on paper. While in the Forsaken Land, Yi Ming had spent all his time practicing body techniques of the Divine Blood Clan with Yi Fan, so he never really learned how to write. His characters looked like twisted worms—thankfully, for someone his age, that wasn’t unusual.
“Today, we have a new student in our class. From now on, he’ll be learning with everyone,” the instructor said warmly, looking toward the door. “Little one, come in and introduce yourself.”
Zhuang Yun stepped inside. “Hello everyone, I’m Zhuang Yun.”
A few students began whispering.
“Boss, why didn’t this guy say more?”
Yi Ming, holding his brush, answered, “Probably because if he said more, we’d find out he stutters.”
“Ohh, so he stutters!” the chubby kid nodded in understanding.
Zhuang Yun shot a sharp look at Yi Ming, whose face—now ink-stained—resembled a little raccoon, all scrunched up.
“Boss, this guy’s pretty weak. Your speech when you got here was way more exciting! Even the teacher was stunned,” said the chubby kid.
Yi Ming grinned smugly. “Geniuses like me don’t show up every day.”
When Yi Ming had first arrived at school, his introduction was:
“Hi everyone, I’m Yi Ming. My life goal is to woo the most handsome guys, eat the best food, drink the finest wine, make tons of money, become a winner at life, and dominate the world…”
During break time.
“Zhuang Yun, this is my turf. Got it?” Yi Ming said proudly, hands on his hips.
Zhuang Yun looked at Yi Ming’s grimy face and said, “I don’t know about that, but I do know you need to wash your face.”
“Boss, this guy’s so arrogant!” the chubby kid said.
Zhuang Yun frowned at Yi Ming. “Hey, did you bring any snacks?”
“I did!”
“Great, hand them over!” Yi Ming demanded with a proud tilt of his chin.
“Why should I?” Zhuang Yun asked.
“Because I’m the boss! As the underling, when the boss is hungry, you’re supposed to offer up your snacks!”
Zhuang Yun looked at him and said, “Now that I’m here, your days as boss are over.”
Yi Ming scowled. “Guys, let’s get him!”
Yi Ming’s leadership wasn’t bad—at his command, a few kids really did rush at Zhuang Yun. But they were all promptly soaked by a well-aimed water spell from Zhuang Yun.
Later that day, at home.
Yi Ming stormed in angrily. Yi Fan looked at him and asked, “What’s wrong? In a bad mood?”
“My position as boss got stolen by Zhuang Yun! That guy’s such a jerk!” Yi Ming huffed, hands on hips.
Yi Fan rubbed his nose and thought, That fast, huh? I figured my son would at least hold out for two more days…
“How did he take over?”
“It was hot today, and that jerk could make ice. When drinking juice, he made ice cubes and gave them to anyone willing to be his underling. The whole class lined up for him, so now they’re all his little followers!” Yi Ming complained.
Yi Fan’s eyes gleamed slightly. Zhuang Yun’s pretty good at winning hearts… But if he can make ice cubes, that means he’s already using ice magic. Not bad—for Zhuang Hao’s son, that’s impressive.
Yi Ming grumbled, “That stingy guy only gave me two ice cubes. Next time I can make ice, I’ll pelt him with it!”
Yi Fan: “…”
“You didn’t rally the kids and gang up on Zhuang Yun?” Yi Fan asked.
“No need to bring that up,” Yi Ming snapped. “Those two-faced cowards all switched sides once they saw how strong Zhuang Yun was. Totally unreliable!”
Yi Fan: “…”
“Dad, do you have any way to deal with Zhuang Yun?” Yi Ming looked up at Yi Fan, full of hope.
“Well…” Yi Fan rubbed his forehead. This wasn’t easy. While he had some strength, going head-to-head with Zhuang Hao would be a lost cause.
Just then, Mu Tingxuan walked over. “What are you two talking about?”
Yi Fan chuckled awkwardly. “Oh, nothing much—our son was asking me for advice.”
“What kind of advice?”
“Zhuang Yun stole my spot as boss, so Dad’s trying to help me take it back,” Yi Ming said.
Mu Tingxuan looked at Yi Fan, who shrugged helplessly.
Mu Tingxuan pinched Yi Ming’s cheek. “There’s an old saying: A gentleman’s revenge is never too late, even after ten years. Wait ten years—then think of a way to get back at him.”
Yi Ming blinked. “After ten years, I can get revenge?”
“Sure—steal his wife,” Mu Tingxuan said.
Yi Ming lit up. “Wow! That sounds great!”
Yi Fan grinned at Mu Tingxuan. “Tingxuan, you really are a visionary.”
Yi Ming looked up to Mu Tingxuan with admiration. “Brilliant idea!”
Mu Tingxuan: “…”
This idiotic father-and-son duo—can’t they tell he was just joking?
Mu Tingxuan looked at Yi Fan and Yi Ming and said, “Alright, A-Ming, it’s getting late. Go to bed early. If you get dark circles under your eyes, you won’t look handsome anymore.”
Yi Ming nodded and said, “Okay.”
Zhuang Family.
“You became the boss?” Zhuang Hao asked.
Zhuang Yun nodded. “Yes.”
“You seem pretty calm about it,” Zhuang Hao said.
Zhuang Yun looked at him, confused. “Is there a need to react differently for something that was practically guaranteed?”
Zhuang Hao: “…”
His son, at such a young age, already carries the air of a general!
“You took Yi Ming’s boss position. Didn’t he get angry?” Zhuang Hao asked.
Zhuang Yun nodded. “I think he did. He kept pretending to be a tiger and wanted to bite me. When he practiced writing, he got ink all over his face. He didn’t look like a tiger—more like a tabby cat, and a stupid one at that.”
Zhuang Hao rubbed his nose and thought: Considering how much Yi Fan spoils his kid, I wonder if he’ll come fight me over this…
“What did you learn at the academy today?” Zhuang Hao asked.
“Calligraphy,” Zhuang Yun replied. “And some basic magical theory.”
“Any difficulties?” Zhuang Hao asked.
“Super easy,” Zhuang Yun replied casually. “That idiot Yi Ming can’t even write properly, and he wanted to be the boss.”
Zhuang Hao: “…”
Tianlan Academy.
Yi Ming led a group of classmates out in high spirits, but Zhuang Yun blocked their way. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m taking them to broaden their horizons.”
Ever since Zhuang Yun took over the leader position, Yi Ming had been trying to take it back with no success. Today, he decided to use his trump card—do something big.
Zhuang Yun crossed his arms and asked coldly, “Broaden your horizons? Where exactly?”
Yi Ming puffed up his chest arrogantly. “If I told you, you’d be scared to death—we’re going to a brothel.”
Zhuang Yun looked at Yi Ming, a few black lines forming on his forehead. “Do you even know what a brothel is?”
Yi Ming clasped his hands behind his back and looked at Zhuang Yun disdainfully. “Wow, you’re so ignorant. A brothel is a green-colored building. Don’t you even know that?”
“Do you know what people do inside brothels?” Zhuang Yun asked calmly.
“Brothels are great places!” Yi Ming said proudly. “You get handsome guys and pretty ladies to eat meat and drink wine with.”
Zhuang Yun: “…”
Yi Ming looked at Zhuang Yun and said, “I’m in a good mood today. Kid, wanna come with us?”
Zhuang Yun patted his pocket and replied, “I’ve got money.”
Zhuang Yun: “…”
Yi Ming continued, “Judging by your face, you’re too scared to go. Don’t block our way—we’re leaving.”
Zhuang Yun: “…”
“I’ll come too,” Zhuang Yun said.
Yi Ming turned around, patted Zhuang Yun’s shoulder, and said in an old-man tone, “Kid, you’ve got guts. Not afraid your dad will beat you?”
Zhuang Yun replied nonchalantly, “If you’re not afraid, why should I be?”
Yi Ming led the group of classmates to the academy gates but was immediately turned away by the guards.
“Boss No. 2, they blocked our path. What now?”
Yi Ming frowned. Ever since Zhuang Yun became the leader, he’d been demoted to “No. 2,” a nickname he absolutely hated.
Yi Ming pursed his lips and said, “No worries. Follow me.”
He led them to a hole in the academy wall. “This hole—we can crawl through it. Everyone, out!”
The group hesitated but eventually began crawling through the dog hole in the wall. Zhuang Yun and Yi Ming were at the end of the line.
Yi Ming looked at Zhuang Yun. “You first, or me?”
“You go first,” Zhuang Yun said.
Yi Ming crouched and started crawling through. Zhuang Yun leapt through the air and somersaulted over Yi Ming’s head mid-crawl.
Halfway out, Yi Ming looked up to see Zhuang Yun already standing outside, looking down at him from above with smug superiority. Yi Ming gritted his teeth in frustration.
Zhuang Yun said, “You sure you can squeeze out? You’re pretty round. Don’t get stuck.”
Yi Ming squeezed the rest of the way out angrily. “I’m not fat! Of course I can get out.”
He stomped out, furious.
“Where to now?” Zhuang Yun asked.
Yi Ming frowned. “Uhh…”
Zhuang Yun folded his arms. “Well?”
Yi Ming bit his finger awkwardly. “Uhh…”
“You… don’t know where the brothel is, do you?” Zhuang Yun asked.
“Of course I do! Don’t insult me! Everyone, follow me!” Yi Ming retorted defiantly.
Yi Ming led the group of kids, full of enthusiasm, to search for the brothel. Meanwhile, the Tianlan Academy instructors realized a bunch of students were missing—and all hell broke loose.
