Xindorei looked at Qi Shaorong and asked curiously, “Doctor, are you scared?”

Qi Shaorong looked at Xindorei in confusion. “Scared? Scared of what?”

“Scared of Loga,” Xindorei replied.

Qi Shaorong still looked puzzled. “Why would I be scared? He’s just a kid. Judging by his looks, he’s probably not much older than you. Is he stronger than your brother?”

Xindorei gave an awkward laugh. “Not really… but, Doctor, didn’t you notice his eyes are red?”

Qi Shaorong nodded. “Yeah, I noticed. What about it?”

“It’s said that people with red eyes are cursed by the gods. Any tribe that has someone like that will be destroyed,” Xindorei said.

Qi Shaorong asked with some curiosity, “Really?”

Xindorei shook his head. “I don’t know.”

“Making a fuss over nothing. So what if he has red eyes?” Qi Shaorong thought to himself. “I’ve seen all kinds of monsters in the magical world. A big red-eyed oaf isn’t going to scare me. That’d be insulting.”

Qi Shaorong looked at Xindorei. “What, are you scared?”

Xindorei shook his head. “No.”

“Really?” Qi Shaorong asked. He’s not afraid because he’s not from this world, he thought. But Xindorei has been heavily influenced by the beliefs of this world.

“A little,” Xindorei admitted.

“Then why help him?” Qi Shaorong asked.

Xindorei smiled. “No particular reason. He just reminded me of myself.”

Qi Shaorong smiled and said, “Alright then. Enough talk—go get ready. That guy looks like he’s in a real hurry.”

———

Loga walked ahead, leading the way, occasionally glancing back at Qi Shaorong and the others. “It’s just ahead.”

Loga looked nervous, frequently turning around to check if Qi Shaorong and the others were still following, afraid they might change their minds and leave.

Qi Shaorong and the others followed Loga into a cave.

Inside the cave lay a weak-looking man. His face was twisted in pain, his lower leg had turned black, and the wound was beginning to fester. His body was already giving off the scent of death.

Qi Shaorong glanced at Yi Fan and said, “This isn’t my specialty. You do it.”

Yi Fan nodded. “Alright.”

Yi Fan cut open the man’s wound and began to drain the poisoned blood. Loga watched nervously from the side. Yi Fan’s technique was skillful, and soon the pitch-black blood was flowing out onto the ground.

After expelling the poison, Yi Fan prescribed a medicinal formula for the man.

Seeing Anbo’s complexion improve, Loga finally relaxed a little.

Loga walked out of the cave. Qi Shaorong waved at him and said, “You haven’t eaten yet, right? Want something?”

Loga smiled. “Sure!”

He sat down next to Qi Shaorong and asked with some confusion, “Doctor, aren’t you afraid of me?”

Qi Shaorong looked at him and said, “I’m not as timid as you think. A little guy like you trying to scare me? Maybe in your next life.”

Loga: “……”

“Doctor, you’re… different from ordinary people,” Loga said.

Qi Shaorong chuckled. “Of course I am. How could ordinary people compare to me?”

Loga: “……”

Yi Fan came out of the cave. Qi Shaorong looked over and asked, “How’s the situation?”

Yi Fan said calmly, “The poison’s been drained. He should be fine now.”

Qi Shaorong blinked. “Impressive!”

Yi Fan smiled. “It’s nothing. You know I’ve done a lot of research on snake venom.”

“Thank you,” Loga said as he walked up and bowed respectfully to Yi Fan.

Yi Fan glanced at him and said, “No need for thanks—it’s just a transaction. You know we’re here for the Heguó.”

Loga quickly replied, “Once my brother recovers, I’ll take you there right away.”

Yi Fan nodded. “Alright.”

“Is it dangerous there?” Qi Shaorong asked.

Loga shook his head. “It’s alright. Don’t worry, I’ll help you get the Heguó.”

———

Qi Shaorong followed Loga into a densely forested jungle. From a distance, he could already hear the monkeys chattering.

Xindorei asked worriedly, “The Heguó is in monkey territory?”

Loga nodded. “Yes.”

“Then how is that not dangerous?” Xindorei asked.

Qi Shaorong looked at Xinduolei with slight confusion and asked, “Are monkeys that dangerous?”

“Of course they are. Monkeys are very strong, and the Monkey King’s strength can rival that of a totem warrior. Plus, when monkeys fight, they have no scruples—they can even throw their own feces,” Xinduolei said.

Qi Shaorong took a deep breath and said, “That does sound pretty scary.”

Xinduolei nodded solemnly. “Exactly!”

Luojia gave a faint smile to Qi Shaorong and the others and said, “It’s nothing to worry about.”

Although Luojia’s blood-red eyes were somewhat frightening, when he smiled, he gave off a warm and harmless feeling.

Luojia let out a sharp whistle, and a few monkeys sprang out.

Qi Shaorong looked at Luojia, full of curiosity, and asked, “You can control monkey troops?”

“When I was young, I saved one of the monkeys in the troop. That monkey is now the Monkey King. I’ve lived with the monkeys all these years,” Luojia explained.

Qi Shaorong was taken aback for a moment. “So that’s how it is.”

“The monkeys are a bit wary of humans. Not all of you can go in,” Luojia added.

Zhuang Hao nodded. “I’ll go in with you.”

Luojia also nodded. “Okay.”

Luojia looked at Zhuang Hao, a bit puzzled. Normally, people with Zhuang Hao’s small build were considered underdeveloped in the tribes. But strangely, Luojia noticed that Zhuang Hao had a higher status in the group than Fred, who was a three-star totem warrior, even though Zhuang Hao himself wasn’t a totem warrior.

Although Luojia had doubts, he didn’t ask further.

After obtaining the He Fruit, Zhuang Hao and the others found a place near the bat cave to settle down and formed an alliance with the Dashi Tribe.

Because of their gratitude to Yi Fan for saving Anbo’s life, Luojia and Anbo chose to follow Yi Fan once Anbo recovered.

Qi Shaorong and the others built a temporary settlement near the Dashi Tribe.

Since they hadn’t prepared properly for the previous winter, Qi Shaorong no longer wanted to live in caves.

Everyone was enthusiastically building houses, and some members of the Dashi Tribe came to help.

“Brother, why are you out here?” Luojia looked at Anbo and asked.

Anbo smiled and said, “I’m already well. I can help out.”

Luojia looked at him and said, “It’s okay if you rest a bit more.”

Anbo smiled again. “I’m really glad you’re willing to come out.” He had always thought that though monkeys treated them well, it was better for Luojia to reconnect with people.

Luojia smiled too. “It’s nice here.” Fred and his brother were very decent, and Qi Shaorong and the others didn’t care at all about his red eyes.

Qi Shaorong came over and said, “The lamb is roasted. Time to eat!”

Anbo gratefully said, “Thank you, Doctor.”

Qi Shaorong waved it off. “No need to be polite.”

With Luojia and Anbo joining them—both of whom were strong—the strength of Qi Shaorong’s team increased significantly.

Dashi Tribe

“Chief, the doctor has recruited both Luojia and Anbo,” said Bill.

The Dashi chieftain nodded. “Luojia is a totem warrior, and Anbo isn’t weak either. The doctor’s side is truly powerful now.”

The chief thought to himself: a small tribe usually has one or two totem warriors; a medium one, five or six; a large one, a dozen or more. Yet despite their small numbers, Qi Shaorong’s group was individually incredibly strong.

“What should we do then?” Bill asked.

“Try to maintain good relations. Even though we have more people, our strength isn’t comparable,” the chief replied.

Bill nodded. “True. But the doctor really is brave. People say red-eyed ones are cursed and bring misfortune to those around them.”

The chieftain thought for a moment and said, “The doctor must have the skill to not fear such things.”

“You ran into members of the Flying Tiger Tribe at the assembly?” he asked.

Bill nodded. “Yeah. Looks like Fred and the Flying Tiger Tribe have no room for reconciliation.”

The chief chuckled. “Well, the Flying Tiger Tribe treated Fred and his brother so badly. No wonder Fred doesn’t want to keep being their scapegoat.”

Bill laughed. “At the assembly, Fred’s former fiancée seemed to be trying to win him back.”

The chieftain squinted his eyes. “I heard Fred isn’t into females anymore. Is that true?”

Bill nodded. “Seems so. I saw a lot of females try to get close to him, but he ignored them all.”

Qi Shaorong looked at the He Fruit and turned to Xinduolei with curiosity. “How do we use this fruit?”

“Anyone who wants a child has to feed this fruit fresh blood continuously for a month. It’ll keep growing, and in the end, a baby will come out of it,” Xinduolei said.

Qi Shaorong nodded and laughed. “I see.”

Feels like planting a Calabash Kid, Qi Shaorong thought to himself.

Xinduolei looked at him and asked, “Doctor, are you and Zhuang Hao already planning to have a child?”

Qi Shaorong forced a dry laugh. “Yeah.”

“Are you sure?” Xinduolei asked.

Qi Shaorong looked at him and smiled. “Do you think there’s something wrong with that?”

Xinduolei shrugged. “Not exactly. Just that both you and Zhuang Hao look like kids yourselves. Are you sure you can raise one? Ah, and you’re both so short, the kid will definitely be a little shorty too.”

Qi Shaorong: “…”

Seeing Qi Shaorong’s expression, Xinduolei awkwardly scratched his head. “Doctor, I was just joking.”

Qi Shaorong smiled and looked toward the doorway. “I know.”

Zhuang Hao was standing at the door, arms crossed, staring darkly at Xinduolei. Seeing Zhuang Hao’s expression, Xinduolei suddenly had a very bad feeling.

“Ah Hao, you’re back so early?” Xinduolei laughed dryly.

Zhuang Hao nodded. “Yeah. I caught a boar. Should be enough food for the next few days.”

Xinduolei chuckled. “Wow, you’re amazing!”

Zhuang Hao grabbed Xinduolei’s collar and said, “I’m not as amazing as you. Since it’s still early, how about we spar for a bit?”

Xinduolei gave a sheepish smile. “Ah Hao, I was just joking.”

Zhuang Hao pulled him closer. “You were joking, but I’m not.”

Zhuang Hao muttered to himself: Back when Qi Shaorong disguised himself as the Evil Doctor, he kept mocking me for being small. It took forever for him to stop bringing that up. And now this idiot Xinduolei dares to say I’m small? How am I small?!
