Bi Liuyun and his group arrived at the frontlines and were greeted by the sight of countless grotesque sea beasts.
Many towns of the mermaid tribe had been destroyed by these mindless beasts, and numerous merfolk had become their prey.
Seeing the battlefield with their own eyes was completely different from hearing rumors—it was shockingly real.
Upon arrival, the group quickly joined the mission to eliminate the sea beasts.
With Zhuang Hao acting as a walking cheat code, Bi Liuyun became unstoppable—defeating every enemy in his path like a god of war.
Footage of Bi Liuyun’s battles was transmitted through the sea clan’s lightstones, spreading rapidly throughout the oceanic world.
As a mixed-blood of human and sea clans, Bi Liuyun had never been well-regarded by the sea people. But this broadcast changed everything. His bravery made the entire sea tribe look at him with newfound respect.
When Ariel saw the footage of Bi Liuyun’s battles, she was so furious that she smashed several coral ornaments to pieces.
The sea beasts had caused devastating damage to the merfolk—many were left homeless. Those living near the former capital Manghai fled in panic, throwing the region into chaos. In contrast, Bi Liuyun’s appearance was like a shot of adrenaline to the demoralized merfolk.
Before long, Bi Liuyun’s fame had spread like wildfire among the mermaids.
“What are you doing?” Sabé staggered drunkenly into the room.
“Father, you’ve been drinking again?” Ariel frowned.
Sabé looked at the broken decorations on the ground and grumbled, “Daughter, things aren’t what they used to be. Stop smashing stuff. No one’s sending us anything new now.”
Ariel clenched her fists. Ever since Sabé lost the throne, their family had been exiled to a remote town within the mermaid tribe, stripped of all power.
Accustomed to a life of luxury, Ariel couldn’t adapt to their current conditions.
Sabé leaned drunkenly against a column, murmuring Irina’s name under his breath.
Ariel bit her lip as she looked at her father’s broken figure.
Her mother, Irina, had died fighting sea beasts. Ariel knew well that her father blamed her. If she had secured reinforcements during her visit to the Sea Dragon Tribe, perhaps things wouldn’t have ended so disastrously.
She closed her eyes. She had never imagined her impulsiveness would lead to such severe consequences. If she had known, she would never have…
As Ariel stepped out, she overheard two maidservants whispering.
“Bi Liuyun is really amazing!”
“Of course he is. Otherwise, why would Hailing marry him?”
“They say Bi Liuyun is a golden mermaid and actually the heir of Princess Xue Fei’er. She was the battle goddess of the sea clan! If she hadn’t died young, maybe the mermaid tribe wouldn’t be in this mess.”
“If Bi Liuyun became king of the merfolk, maybe the tribe would finally get a fresh start.”
“Yeah! He’s married to Hailing. If he were king, the Sea Dragon Tribe would never ignore our struggles.”
“And even the Sea God’s Trident has acknowledged Bi Liuyun. It’s only natural for him to become king!”
Ariel stormed out, furious. “What are you two gossiping about? Bi Liuyun is just a mutt! A mutt like him has no right to be king of the merfolk!”
“Miss Ariel, you should go back inside and rest. Your tail’s still injured,” one maid advised calmly.
Ariel stomped her foot in anger. Since being exiled here, everything had gone wrong—including the maids, who never obeyed her.
These two weren’t ordinary servants; their strength was formidable. More than caretakers, they were essentially her watchers. Her commands meant nothing to them.
“That mutt Bi Liuyun isn’t that powerful—he cheated!” Ariel shrieked.
“Miss Ariel, even if he did, he’s still way better than you!”
“Yeah! He didn’t flee the battlefield—or push other merfolk out as shields!”
Ariel’s face turned crimson with rage. Silently, she turned and stormed back inside.
After a round of intense battles, countless sea beast corpses sank to the ocean floor.
Hai Lan looked at Bi Liuyun and said, “Liuyun, you were amazing!”
Bi Liuyun smiled. “Aunt, you flatter me.”
“You’re practically a hero among the merfolk now. I’ve heard that there’s already talk of making you king,” Hai Lan added.
Bi Liuyun chuckled. “How could I become king?”
Hai Lan shook her head. “Don’t be so sure. The merfolk tribe is in chaos. If you wanted it, becoming king wouldn’t be hard at all.”
Bi Liuyun gave a bitter smile. “I’m really not interested.” Hailing had already given up the Sea Dragon throne to marry him—and now he, a halfblood, had a chance to become merfolk royalty? Fate really had a twisted sense of humor.
Title: Rising Hope and Wedding Bells in the Aftermath of War
「Many merfolk see you as their savior now,」 said Hailan.
Biliuyun crossed his arms and shook his head. 「I don’t want to carry so many hopes on my shoulders!」 It seemed things had gotten out of hand. What was meant to be a small show of fame had turned into something much bigger. The merfolk, trapped in dire straits, were clearly desperate for a hero.
「Senior, what exactly happened in the former Mu Sea area?」 Biliuyun asked.
「The natural barrier there seems to have failed. If we don’t seal off the former Mu Sea soon, the problems will only get worse,」 Hailan explained.
Biliuyun nodded. 「Oh, that sounds pretty bad.」
「Thankfully, the situation is under control for now. A few sea kings have already started discussing how to rebuild the barrier,」 Hailan said.
「That’s good to hear,」 Biliuyun responded with a faint smile.
「We really have to thank Young Master Zhuang and the others this time,」 Hailan said with gratitude.
Biliuyun nodded and smiled. 「Yes, the young master was a tremendous help.」
Later, Biliuyun found Qi Shaorong and Zhuang Hao packing their things.
「Young master, are you leaving already?」 Biliuyun asked Qi Shaorong.
Qi Shaorong nodded. 「Yes.」
「So soon?」 Biliuyun asked with a hint of disappointment.
Qi Shaorong shrugged. 「I don’t have much choice—you know, Qi Heng and Zuo Yunfei’s wedding is coming up soon.」
Biliuyun nodded. 「Ah! I almost forgot. Where’s Zuo Shao?」
「He already took Qi Heng and left,」 Qi Shaorong replied.
Biliuyun looked surprised. 「He left so soon? I was hoping to thank him properly for his help.」
「Zuo Yunfei may have a sharp tongue, but he’s a good person,」 Qi Shaorong said.
Biliuyun smiled. 「Yeah, he is.」
「Qi Heng wanted to stay longer, but Zuo Yunfei was impatient. Anyway, it’s about time they prepare for the wedding,」 Zhuang Hao said sourly.
Qi Shaorong glanced at Zhuang Hao, thoughtful.
Compared to Hailing’s wedding, Zuo Yunfei’s was simpler, though still lively.
After attending both weddings back-to-back, Qi Shaorong and Zhuang Hao finally set off on the road back to Yuan Nation.
Zhuang Hao looked at Qi Shaorong and asked, 「Tired?」
Qi Shaorong shook his head. 「Not too bad. The weddings were fun.」
「If we have a wedding, it’ll be even more fun,」 Zhuang Hao said.
Qi Shaorong glanced at him. 「Oh? Got any brilliant ideas?」
Zhuang Hao froze for a moment, then turned and asked, 「Are you really thinking about us getting married?」
Qi Shaorong looked at him. 「Haven’t you thought about it?」
「Of course I have—thousands of times! I just didn’t expect that you…」 Zhuang Hao said.
Qi Shaorong gave him a look and said, 「Let’s pick a time and settle it.」
Zhuang Hao’s eyes widened. It took him a moment to process what he’d heard, then he lit up with joy. 「Great! Don’t worry, I’ll make the wedding absolutely stunning—better than Zuo Yunfei’s or Hailing’s!」
Qi Shaorong rolled his eyes. 「Don’t overdo it. Let’s keep things simple.」
Zhuang Hao scoffed. 「After all this, how can I not go big for our wedding?」
Qi Shaorong: 「…」
Yuan Nation Capital.
News of Zhuang Hao advancing to Saint level had already spread before he returned, drawing considerable attention.
Shen Yuan looked at the invitation in his hand, then glanced over at the clearly elated Zhuang Hao. 「A wedding invitation?」
Zhuang Hao nodded. 「Yep.」
Shen Yuan raised an eyebrow. 「Does Qi Shao know about this?」
Zhuang Hao looked annoyed. 「What’s that supposed to mean? You think I’d go around spreading the news of our wedding without Shaorong’s consent?」
Shen Yuan rolled his eyes and grinned. 「Of course not. I was just asking.」 No way Zhuang Hao had the guts for that—Qi Shaorong’s temper wasn’t something you’d want to mess with.
Zhuang Hao laughed, clearly in a good mood. 「Even with an idiot like you dragging me down, I still managed to win Shaorong over in the end.」
Shen Yuan rubbed his forehead. 「You can’t blame that all on me! It was your stepmother who wanted to cancel the engagement. Even if I hadn’t gone, someone else would have. I just got unlucky.」
Zhuang Hao snorted. 「Still your fault.」
Shen Yuan: 「…」 Ah, youthful ignorance… what a painful lesson it had turned out to be.
「I heard you made it to Saint level. Is it true?」 Shen Yuan asked.
Zhuang Hao nodded. 「Yeah. I’ve grasped my domain.」
Shen Yuan looked at him and sighed inwardly. They had once been part of the “Seven Talents of the Capital” together, but now Zhuang Hao made that label seem laughable.
「You’ve had quite a busy few months, huh?」 Shen Yuan said.
「Two weddings in three months. If I weren’t getting married myself, I’d be homicidal from all the celebrating,」 Zhuang Hao said.
Shen Yuan: 「…」
「How many people are you planning to invite?」 Shen Yuan asked.
Zhuang Hao shrugged. 「As many as I can.」
Shen Yuan: 「…」
