**Ten Years Later.**
“Young Master, the Zhuang family has come to break off the engagement,” Qi Heng said as he walked in.
The young man lying lazily on a rocking chair, wearing a facial mask, drawled, “So my fiancée, who’s said to be a beauty capable of bringing down nations, has finally decided to dump me?”
Qi Heng nodded. “I believe so.”
“Oh, having a useless fiancé like me who’s a failure in both magic and martial arts, that guy must be pretty unlucky!” Qi Shaorong said lazily.
“Not at all. That guy should consider himself lucky.”
“That’s true. Without a useless person like me, how would his genius seem even more extraordinary?”
Qi Heng: “…”
“I should at least go see this legendary beauty, just to check if he’s really as flawless as they say, a masterpiece from every angle. Maybe he needs my gifted hands to open his eyes a bit or shave his jawline,” Qi Shaorong said, admiring his hands.
“In fact, he didn’t come,” Qi Heng said, a bit regretfully.
“He didn’t come? He actually didn’t come? To break off the engagement and not even show up—what a shameless jerk!” Qi Shaorong said, now irritated.
Qi Heng nodded. “Yes, truly despicable.”
“Who came then?” Qi Shaorong asked, quickly regaining his composure.
“A man and a woman, said to be friends of Zhuang Hao,” Qi Heng replied.
Qi Shaorong chuckled, “Friends? He sent two lowlifes to break off my engagement?”
Qi Heng: “…”
“Young Master, do you want to meet them?” Qi Heng asked.
Qi Shaorong shrugged. “Well, I should meet them, but no need to rush. Let them wait.”
…
**In the Main Hall.**
Yi Chuxue had been fuming for what felt like ages before anyone finally showed up.
The moment Qi Shaorong entered, the two visitors were stunned.
Qi Shaorong had brightly colored hair and heavy makeup caked on his face.
“Young Master Qi, such a big ego! We’ve been waiting forever, and you finally decided to grace us with your presence,” Yi Chuxue said with a forced smile.
Qi Shaorong smiled, lazily fiddling with his brightly painted nails. “I’m still the young master of the Qi family. If I rushed out to see every Tom, Dick, and Harry, I’d be exhausted.”
“Who are you calling Tom, Dick, and Harry?” Yi Chuxue snapped, her tone icy.
Qi Shaorong smiled, “Miss, I was just speaking casually. No need to get so worked up.”
Yi Chuxue scoffed. “You’re just a failure in both magic and martial arts. The Qi family has long abandoned you, yet you still have the nerve to call yourself their young master.”
Qi Shaorong looked at the two and asked, “So, why have you two come here?”
“I’m here to break off Zhuang Hao’s engagement with you. Qi Shaorong, you should understand by now. Zhuang Hao is someone far beyond your reach. You two are worlds apart. Your engagement was just a joke. For Zhuang Hao’s sake, and for yours, you should give up willingly,” Yi Chuxue said earnestly.
Qi Shaorong nodded, “You’re here to break off the engagement for Zhuang Hao? Are you his close confidante?”
Yi Chuxue’s face reddened. “No, I’m his cousin.”
Qi Shaorong nodded and said in a mocking tone, “Oh, just a cousin? I must have been exiled for too long to realize that even cousins in the capital now meddle in such affairs.”
Yi Chuxue glared at Qi Shaorong in anger. “Qi Shaorong, stop changing the subject! Do you plan to shamelessly cling to my cousin?”
Qi Shaorong stared at her. “Miss Cousin, I’ve never even heard of you among Zhuang Hao’s relatives. You must be from a distant branch. Even if I agree to break off the engagement, can you make that decision?”
Yi Chuxue frowned. “Of course I can. I brought the engagement contract, and it was Zhuang Hao’s mother, my aunt, who asked me to come.”
Qi Shaorong tilted his head, grinning mischievously. “Miss, are you acting so eagerly because you’ve got a thing for Zhuang Hao?”
Yi Chuxue snorted. “That’s none of your business.”
Qi Shaorong blinked and said, “Miss, I’ve heard that Zhuang Hao is incredibly handsome. With your plain looks, don’t you feel embarrassed standing next to him?”
“You ugly freak, what nonsense are you spouting?” Yi Chuxue snarled.
Qi Shaorong looked at her, amused. “Miss, you seem very agitated. I think you should calm down a bit.”
Shen Yuan, who had been watching the interaction, felt a strange sense of amusement. Yi Chuxue had always been poised and graceful in the capital, but now she was losing her cool. Zhuang Hao’s fiancée was… not as simple as she seemed.
Shen Yuan glanced at Qi Shaorong’s face, covered in thick makeup, and thought to himself, Zhuang Hao is really “lucky” to have such a unique fiancée.
