“Enough!” Luo Mingyu frowned. His silver-white robe already covered his body, and the normally cold man now seemed genuinely angry. A flash of fury passed through his black eyes.

“Huangfu Xuan… Huangfu Xuan, do you really like this man that much? Just that much? Even if I have your body, I can’t have your heart? Ling Ruoxi, answer me!”

“I…” Ling Ruoxi froze. She had never expected this man to get angry. In her memory, he was always cold to outsiders and warm to her—he never shouted at her like this.

But now… she truly didn’t know how to respond. Her concern was only for Huangfu Xuan, worried that the dream might turn into reality.

When would this man stop being so childish? He was already a father, yet still had the temper of a child. Hadn’t she already said it? She and Huangfu Xuan were only ordinary friends—there could never be anything more!

He knew everything—everything—but he wanted her to say it out loud. He only wanted an answer. Was it really so difficult for a woman to give one answer?

Ling Ruoxi clenched her fists, then, as if defying him, lifted her head sharply. “Yes! I like Huangfu Xuan! So what? You have my body—so what!”

“So what?” Luo Mingyu’s cold smile deepened. He felt powerless, helpless before a woman. Even knowing she was deliberately provoking him, he refused to submit, refused to apologize.

“Ling Ruoxi, I tolerated you because I considered you mine, but that doesn’t mean your heart belongs to me. No man can bear it if his woman’s heart still belongs to another! Since you like him, fine… from now on, between us, we owe each other nothing!” Veins bulging in his hands, Luo Mingyu turned abruptly. His icy expression could freeze everything in its path.

“Go. Leave now. Disappear, and never show up before me again!”

“Fine! I’ll go—I’m leaving now!” Ling Ruoxi stood quickly, gritting her teeth at the cold man, and ran down the mountain. Yet as she ran, she instinctively glanced back. The man atop the mountain remained with his back to her, showing no trace of emotion.

Luo Mingyu… it’s you who made me leave… it’s you!

He shut his eyes tightly. The tall figure trembled. Long lashes quivered as he quickly turned to look back, but the forest was empty. She really had gone—she had truly left!

Was she going to find that man… Huangfu Xuan?

A cold smile touched Luo Mingyu’s face. At that moment, he felt as if he had fallen from heaven into hell. She left—she would not return.

“Ling Ruoxi… if one day you come crying back to me, be ready for the punishment you deserve…”

That icy voice echoed in her mind. Ling Ruoxi shivered. She could never imagine crying and begging him!

Relying on her memory of the paths, her small figure darted through the mountains. Her agent skills fully manifested. To avoid fierce beasts, Ling Ruoxi deliberately chose isolated paths, analyzing the habits of the monsters to judge if the area was safe. Observation and judgment—these were the skills of a trained agent. She had no Dou Qi, but that didn’t make her useless.

“Huangfu Xuan… where are you?” Through the dense forest, Ling Ruoxi reached a cliff, staring at the split terrain below. Her heart skipped a beat as she leaned over, looking down.

The bottomless chasm offered no sight of the familiar figure. The drop was at least ten thousand meters. She was only a medicinal doctor, without Dou Qi—how could she possibly go down to save him?

“Huangfu Xuan! Huangfu Xuan!” She nearly despaired. No one around could help her descend.

“Wait… the army! Nangong Mo!” Her eyes lit up. It was hunting time. If she could find a route down, she could summon troops to search for Huangfu Xuan. For Dou Qi practitioners, descending the cliff was easy.

She wiped sweat from her brow and turned to run, but froze mid-step.

A wild wolf emerged from behind, its emerald-green eyes glinting with intelligence, drool dripping from its mouth. A murderous light shone in its gaze as it slowly advanced toward her.

No… she had been so careful to avoid the beasts, yet she was spotted! Instinctively, she reached for her waist, but froze. She usually carried a dagger, but that wicked man had thrown it away earlier. She had left in a rush, unarmed.

Every hair on her body stood on end. She eyed the wolf carefully. She remembered reading about these creatures on Liuli Island—they resembled Earth wolves but were actually Green-Winged Wolves.

These wolves moved as fast as the wind. Their claws could easily scrape stone, their teeth could bite through decades-old trees. Their weak point? The waist.

But these Green-Winged Wolves possessed Dou Qi. Their flesh and bones were thick and tough. With her current strength, Ling Ruoxi couldn’t attack the abdomen effectively.

She drew a deep breath and instinctively stepped back toward the cliff, eyes fixed on the wolf. Her hands pressed against the ground, killing intent rising.

“Argh!” The wolf leaped forward with its hind legs, sprinting toward her. Its claws sliced the air. Ling Ruoxi’s nerves tensed as she vaulted aside.

But no matter how fast she moved, the wolf was faster.

A “swish”—the ruthless claw landed. Ling Ruoxi saw her own blood spray as the beast tore away a chunk of flesh.

She slammed to the ground, rolling several times before righting herself. Her right arm was shredded, bleeding profusely.

Damn it… so strong! She took several deep breaths, suppressing the pain. But the wolf leaped again. She grabbed dust from the ground and hurled it at the beast.

“Argh!” The wolf fell to the ground, blinded by dust.

Seizing the moment, Ling Ruoxi rose, pressing her wounded arm and sprinting forward. Staying meant more beasts would be attracted by her blood. She couldn’t even handle a low-level Green-Winged Wolf, let alone a higher-level monster.

The wolf shook its head, green eyes glowing, and pursued her.

“This is bad!” After running a kilometer, she realized she had no idea where the path down was. Luo Mingyu had forced her here—she didn’t know the route!

In this forest, a valley blocked any view of the lower terrain. She couldn’t tell which way led uphill or downhill.

Relying on intuition, she charged forward. Blood dripped from her arm, the scent of iron filling the air. Hungry monsters’ eyes glinted as they swarmed toward her.

Dizziness hit her brain. Could the beast’s claws carry poison? Her expression darkened. Clutching her arm, she ran desperately.

Her speed faltered, and the wolf caught up, swinging its claw violently at her.

“Bang!” The impact sent her flying. Her mind went blank. Her last conscious thought was of the wolf as she plunged toward the ground.

The wolf leapt to bite her arm, mouth wide…

“Shh!” Purple light erupted, forming a protective shield around her. The wolf’s teeth shattered against it.

The wolf retreated, startled, tail between its legs. Nearby beasts slowly gathered and fled.

“Roar!” A massive ape approached, swinging its fist at the ground.

“Boom!” The ground shook violently. Ling Ruoxi was slammed into the pit. Purple light flickered, softly healing her injured arm.

The black wounds closed gradually, her complexion improved, though she remained covered in blood and dirt.

“Crack…” The ape screamed, tossing her into the air.

Seven days passed. Dou Qi practitioners returned from the mountains. Huangfu Yuan, who hunted two furious sky wolves, remained first—he had descended on the third day, proving his strength.

However, he brought tragic news: his elder brother had been attacked by beasts, fell off the cliff, and his fate was unknown.

The army entered the mountains, scouring the cliffs. No trace of the legendary man could be found—not even a body. With monsters rampant, how could one hope to locate someone who had fallen?

“Perhaps… this is destiny, elder brother,” Huangfu Yuan said, hand on his chest, sighing.

Nangong Qin expressed sympathy: “Prince Huangfu Yuan, do not grieve too much. Accidents happen in life. If we find Prince Huangfu Xuan, I will inform you immediately.”
