The First-Rank Good-for-Nothing Mother 7 min read 63 of 242 3

By the end, Ling Ruoxi had completely surrendered. The heat coursing through her body was almost driving her insane; her rationality was fading. She no longer even felt like herself, completely lost in the whirlwind of Luo Mingyu’s kiss, knowing nothing else.

She vaguely remembered shouting something… calling him “husband” and begging for him.

That tear-streaked, pear-blossom-like expression almost drove Luo Mingyu crazy. He moved relentlessly, giving himself completely to her, leaving nothing behind—not even a bone.

“Enchantress… enchantress!” Her coquettish manner, the trembling of her voice, even her faint mewl—all of it ensnared his heart like a tiny kitten. She was heaven-sent, his personal enchantress, and he could give everything, even his life, for her.

This woman was Luo Mingyu’s. No one could touch her!

“Do you hear me? You’re mine! From now on, no other men, no getting close to Huangfu Xuan! Otherwise, I’ll punish you!” His movements were almost frenzied as he held her delicate body tightly.

The dense forest blocked out all sunlight, and a gloomy, oppressive atmosphere pressed down from above. That uneasy premonition lingered. What was happening?

The Dou Qi practitioners had split off, heading deeper into the forest. Capturing a top-tier beast would make one the strongest among them, and the snow jade in their hands would double the speed of their cultivation. Everyone wanted it.

But the two of them…

Had long since left the Dou Qi practitioners’ group. They were like two independent wolves, standing atop a mountain peak.

Completely undisturbed, cut off from the world. Even if outsiders knew what was happening here, they wouldn’t dare rush in. That was the advantage of a cliffside!

“Huangfu Xuan… I never thought the day would come when your Dou Qi recovered!” Huangfu Yuan sneered, bloodlust blazing in his eyes. He pinched his fingers together, staring coldly at the man across from him.

Raising his hand casually, blue Dou Qi swirled around Huangfu Xuan. He merely touched the handkerchief wrapped around his right hand and smiled faintly. “You never expected it. Back then, I trusted you completely… and you poisoned me. I have no interest in the throne of Dongling. This… was all your doing.”

“No interest?” Huangfu Yuan laughed scornfully, arrogantly. “Then why did Father hand over state affairs to you? Don’t lie to me—I know everything. You and Father are the same. Once you take over the throne, you’ll shove me aside! Rather than waiting to be pushed aside, I’d rather act first and eliminate you! Then all of Dongling will be mine. Why not?”

Huangfu Xuan gave a helpless smile, tinged with sorrow. This was his own younger brother—same father, same mother, closer than any other sibling. Even such close blood could not escape the struggle for the throne. He had no intention, yet his second brother was so obsessed.

“You poisoned me, slandered me in front of Father and Mother, even hired assassins to kill me. Do you really hate me that much?” Huangfu Xuan said calmly, drawing the sword at his waist and looking at him steadily.

The sword’s tip shifted, pointing at his own neck. “Do you only feel at ease if I die?”

“Hah, naturally. End it yourself, so I don’t have to intervene. We’re brothers—I can leave you a chance to live!” Huangfu Yuan snorted, hoping for precisely this result. He wouldn’t need to fight—he could eliminate his pathetic older brother effortlessly.

“If I were the man I used to be, I would strike this sword myself. But now…” Thinking of the woman who had risked everything to save him, the desperate look in her eyes, the tears on his cheek, he knew he wouldn’t die so easily.

Slowly lowering the sword, Huangfu Xuan gazed coldly at him. “Strike me. Let me see if you’ve improved over the years! Don’t tell me you’re still the same weakling who falls in one move.”

“You’re the weakling! Weakling!” Those words hit Huangfu Yuan’s sore spot. He roared, green Dou Qi surging into the sky like lightning, splitting the forest.

Huangfu Xuan raised a brow and smiled faintly. “A Green-level Dou Qi practitioner… so you’ve worked hard these years. But the gap between Green and Blue ranks is immense; breaking through is almost impossible. Come then…”

The red figure moved gracefully, blue Dou Qi circling him, red robes fluttering, blending with the icy snowlike aura—a breathtaking sight.

The man, cold as snow, eyes like blades, raised his hand. “Long time since I last used this—Ice Slash!”

Blue Dou Qi condensed in his hand, spreading effortlessly. The shadow behind him remained still, and the ice sword above fell sharply.

“What!” Huangfu Yuan’s face changed drastically. The pressure from the Blue-rank struck him like a mountain; he couldn’t move. Those blade-like eyes pierced him.

Coldness seeped from his soul. Huangfu Yuan forgot where he was, watching blue Dou Qi surge, his resolve shattering. He fell to his knees.

“Bang!” The blue Dou Qi swept through, shaking the forest, kicking up dust and debris.

A deep ravine formed on the cliffside. Rocks tumbled into the abyss. The kneeling man trembled, staring at the red figure, shivering violently.

The difference in power was too great. It was like an infant fighting an adult. Green-level Dou Qi versus Blue-rank—there was no comparison.

“This is the difference. Understand?” Huangfu Xuan sheathed his sword and looked coldly at the kneeling man. “I’ve said it before—you are my brother. I will not kill you. This time is just a lesson. Rise.”

“Brother… brother…” Huangfu Yuan’s voice trembled. He tried to stand, hands shaking, but his legs couldn’t support him. He leaned back, and Huangfu Xuan’s legs wavered in response, instinctively stepping forward to grab his wrist.

The cliff underfoot cracked from the force of the Dou Qi strike. Huangfu Xuan grabbed Huangfu Yuan’s wrist, ready to pull him up.

But with a cunning gleam, Huangfu Yuan twisted Huangfu Xuan’s hand, kicked his jaw, leapt, and stepped onto Huangfu Xuan’s back, stomping on him.

“Crack…” The sound of bones breaking echoed. The red figure shuddered, pain shooting through his back. Blood spewed from his mouth, and he fell like a kite cut from its string.

Huangfu Yuan landed swiftly, sneering. “I’ve broken your seventh vertebra. Even with all your strength, you can’t survive, especially from this height. The day you die, only then can I, the true prince of Dongling, be at peace!”

“Huangfu Xuan!”

Ling Ruoxi woke with a start, drenched in sweat. Panic flashed in her black eyes. It had to be a dream! How could she have dreamed of Huangfu Xuan covered in blood, calling her name, begging her to save him?

Her heart raced, hand pressed to her chest. A chill brushed past her.

Soon, her pale face flushed red. She was still on the mountain, barely clothed!

“Even in your dreams, you call his name. Looks like you didn’t take my words to heart,” said the man behind her, suddenly wrapping his arms around her waist, moving as punishment.

An unfamiliar hardness pressed against her. Ling Ruoxi screamed and grabbed Luo Mingyu’s wrist. “You scoundrel! Get off me—this is serious!”

“It is serious… very serious,” Luo Mingyu said with a sly grin, tilting her chin toward himself. “Do you know how angry I am? The consequences… severe.”

“No, let go! Luo Mingyu, we’re talking business!” Ling Ruoxi struggled, finally freeing herself and quickly putting on her clothes. “If you want it, we’ll discuss it later. Now is not the time for this!”

“Oh?” Luo Mingyu paused, slightly stunned. The woman before him had transformed—no longer shy, now exuding a scent and presence he liked.

“These years, I rarely dream. If I do, it usually predicts real events. Yizhui and Yimeng’s high fevers, Brother Tang’s betrayal and leaving Liuli Island—all happened first in my dreams. Just now…” Ling Ruoxi shivered, hairs standing on end, unable to imagine the truth of what she’d just dreamt.

She took a deep breath, trying to steady her trembling body. “I dreamed that Huangfu Xuan was covered in blood, falling into a cave. He… he asked me to save him. Huangfu Xuan must be in trouble… you know, he…”
