“Are you okay?” Qian Yi was startled, looking at the man before her. But the sudden pangs in her abdomen forced a heavy groan from her lips.
Nangong Mo was even more shocked. He quickly shielded Qian Yi in his arms. “What’s wrong? Did something happen? Did the earlier fight hurt you? Yi’er, don’t scare me, I—”
“I’m going into labor, you idiot! Hurry back!” Seeing Nangong Mo’s anxious face, Qian Yi could only laugh through her tears. The intense contractions hit her. She clutched Nangong Mo’s clothes tightly. Their child was finally about to be born.
The Duanyun Kingdom Palace buzzed with activity once again. The traces of blood had long been cleaned up, and the timely rain had washed away much of the lingering stench. Outside the palace, no other forces remained. The barrier opened, and the sky above was even bluer.
Having just celebrated victory, the news of the empress giving birth filled the ministers with joy. Many didn’t even bother returning home, instead staying in the palace to handle affairs and prepare for the arrival of the prince or princess.
The cries of a newborn echoed through the palace. Nangong Mo held the tiny baby in his arms. She was so small, curled up, eyes still closed. The air outside seemed inferior to the warmth of her mother, making her cries exceptionally loud, audible throughout the courtyard.
“Well, this little princess was born at just the right time—right after our victory. Xiao Ming, what do you think we should name her?” Ling Feng leisurely stroked his chin as he looked at the baby wrapped in swaddling. Just as Baili Wushuang vanished from the world, a new life appeared—a cycle of nature, birth and renewal, though whether it was a blessing or a curse, who could tell?
When Ling Feng called out “Xiao Ming,” even Qian Yi nearly spat out her tea. Murong Ming was already quite old, and Ling Feng looked barely thirty. Such a name felt jarring, and with Murong Ming’s high status, it seemed almost childish.
But Murong Ming didn’t care. Stroking his beard, he said, “I think ‘Dawn’ would be better. Nangong Dawn. With her arrival, the Duanyun Kingdom is reborn.”
Nangong Dawn…
At that moment, the Silver Wolf, lying at the back, burst into laughter, clutching his belly, tears nearly streaming down. “Hahaha! I’ve never heard a worse name! The princess of a kingdom, and she’s called Dawn? What about me—should I be Twilight?”
“Hey, you little troublemaker, feeling cheeky?” Murong Ming raised a brow, glaring at the magical beast.
The Silver Wolf, fearless, grinned. “Yeah? Come on, hit me!”
“Don’t think I don’t know you survived the Thunder Tribulation. Your body is as hard as Mystic Crystal, but Ling Feng has divine treasures from heaven and earth. One hit and you won’t stand it,” Murong Ming said coldly. He couldn’t stand the Silver Wolf’s smug face.
“Do you really have something that can pierce my defenses?” The Silver Wolf raised his eyebrows, staring at Ling Feng. With a resigned pout, he said, “Come on, Ruoxi’s dad, show me what you’ve got. Let’s see if anything in this world can break through my defenses!”
“Do you really want to see?” Ling Feng laughed, pointing with his right hand. A tiny flea appeared in his palm. He flicked it casually. “Think this can break your defenses?”
“Pfft! You pervert!” The Silver Wolf almost jumped up. He hated this thing when Ling Feng didn’t transform—it always eluded him and ruined his elegant posture. Truly maddening!
Baili Yan, watching the antics, smiled lightly. “Alright, stop fooling around. Qian Yi is resting. The child is born, ending the war and bringing dawn, but ‘Dawn’ is not a proper name for a girl. Better to title her Princess Dawn. As for her name…” She glanced at Ling Feng and smiled. “Let’s call her Ninglu. Nangong Ninglu. Born with the concentrated love of her parents, as the morning dew falls on the leaves. Nangong, what do you think?”
“Ninglu… nice.” Repeating the name, Nangong Mo nodded. He had to admit—his ancestors’ naming skills were not to be praised. Even ‘Princess Dawn’ would be too much for him to grant his own daughter.
Looking around, a young attendant in green holding medicine asked, puzzled, “Where are Mingyu and Ruoxi? Where did those two go?”
“They’re wandering outside. By the way, little ghost with the ghost eyes, once this is over, get ready. In Duanyun Kingdom, I’m holding a wedding for my daughter. Xiao Ming, you’ll help too!” Ling Feng replied, a hidden intensity flashing in his deep eyes.
Gentle rain washed over the land, adding the scent of grass and removing the stench of blood.
The two standing quietly at the edge of the lotus pond on the bridge watched the lotus flowers bloom brightly despite the rain. Small dragonflies skimmed over the water. Butterflies danced and settled on fair fingers, greedily drinking the nectar.
“Beautiful.” Ling Ruoxi smiled softly, looking at the butterfly resting on her hand. She had never imagined that after all was over, it would be so peaceful. She could hardly believe the beauty of this continent, untouched by worldly dust, like a fairyland.
Holding Luo Mingyu tightly, he smiled upward. “Yes, beautiful.” The aura of the person in his arms was unlike before, transcending the mundane. Even he dared not touch her casually.
“Mingyu, I…” Ling Ruoxi’s fingers trembled slightly. The butterfly flapped its wings and flew. She instinctively raised her head, holding him tightly around the waist, burying her face in his chest. “I really like you!”
“You fool.” Luo Mingyu chuckled, caressing her small head. It was the first time he had heard her say those words.
“Shy-shy! Mom and Dad, you’re both grown-ups, playing hide-and-seek in the rain and not letting us follow!”
“That’s right. Dad and Mom are too biased. Yimeng and I also like you both. Are we fools too?”
Two small figures under the bridge looked up from the stone bridge, eyebrows raised.
In an instant, Ling Ruoxi lifted her head. “You two little rascals, come here!”
“Yes, yes!” Yizhui and Yimeng jumped up, standing side by side in front of her. They expected a lecture, but she only gently opened her arms, holding them close. It felt wonderful to have them there.
Those strong hands embraced the three together, as if they were all held within. At this moment, no one was happier than him.
The Duanyun Kingdom Palace was adorned with festive decorations, lanterns and banners.
The entire nation celebrated new life, blessing the couple in the palace.
Under the watchful eyes of ministers, the newlyweds walked down the red carpet. Two flower children led the way as petals fell onto their hair. Musicians played, filling the palace with melody.
Seeing familiar faces around, she clenched her hands subconsciously. She had never imagined her wedding would be so solemn. Back then, she only wanted a simple ceremony, as long as she became Luo Mingyu’s wife.
And now…
Qing Yi, Silver Wolf, Yuwen Zhiyuan, and Jiang Yu sat together, raising their cups to her. Foreign envoys, smiling, looked on. The familiar faces were lost in the crowd, so many friends she could hardly believe her eyes.
“One bow to heaven and earth…”
“Two bows to the elders…”
“Bow to each other as husband and wife…”
“Enter the bridal chamber…”
Like a dream, the familiar voices rang out. Ling Ruoxi smiled faintly, holding Luo Mingyu’s wrist. The man stared at her, and she stood on tiptoe.
Their soft kiss landed on his lips—so familiar, so warm.
Applause erupted around them. Seeing the couple embracing and kissing in the sunlight, they shone even brighter.
No matter how they met, in the end, they were together.
A lifetime of promises, hand in hand, growing old together.
Luo Mingyu, I love you!
