FRGNM -Chapter 32 The Wedding Approaches

“Alright, it’s fine for now. You have too much stagnant blood in your body. With the cold invading and no long-term treatment, it’s no wonder you got sick. When you’re okay, take less medicine and endure the pain a little—it will pass.”

People from the royal family were truly pampered. Ling Ruoxi realized that the physical constitution of the Huangfu clan wasn’t actually as weak as the legends suggested; it was just that the illnesses in their family caused them so much worry that even newborns had to be bathed in medicinal decoctions, and every year they were given enormous amounts of medicine.

All medicine carries some toxicity—three parts poison, at least—so imagine the effect of so much medicine. Even the strongest body couldn’t withstand it. It wasn’t so much that they were physically weak as it was that the medicine had done this to them.

“Thank you.” Huangfu Xuan wasn’t as difficult as imagined; he simply said thanks.

Beside him, the doctor stared at Ling Ruoxi in disbelief. “Y-You… who are you? With your level of skill, how is it possible to perform acupoint therapy with silver needles? Are you… the Divine Doctor?”

For those who practiced Dou Qi, extending life wasn’t a problem, and their appearance could remain forever youthful. So why not this person before them? Perhaps she really was a hidden Divine Doctor!

Shrugging helplessly, Ling Ruoxi raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Impossible. If I were a Divine Doctor, would I even be here? I just know a little medicine. Since there’s nothing wrong, I should be leaving. Until we meet again.”

“Wait, what’s your name?” Huangfu Xuan looked at her. At the very least, he should know her name.

Meanwhile, the two mischievous little ones turned their heads.

“Uncle, my name is Yizhui. Mom says she’s chasing after the man who planted seeds in her.”

“Uncle, my name is Yimeng. Mom says this dream is hard to forget; it will only remain in memory. Goodbye, Uncle…”

“To meet does not require knowing, fate will reveal itself,” Ling Ruoxi said with a gentle smile, taking the two children with her and walking toward the hill ahead.

Anyone who wanted to call her back was too late; in the next moment, the three mysterious figures completely disappeared, leaving no trace.

Huangfu Xuan sighed helplessly and waved his hand. “Let’s depart. Make sure to arrive before the wedding. The Crown Prince’s wedding cannot be taken lightly…”

The Ling residence was already decorated with lanterns and banners; every corner was meticulously cleaned. Red lanterns hung everywhere, and all the neighbors knew of the Ling family’s joyous event.

The Crown Prince of Beining, Nangong Mo, was originally betrothed to the Ling family’s Third Miss, Ling Ruoxi. But Ruoxi had secretly been involved with another man. Once the divorce decree was issued, their engagement was officially broken.

Six years later, the Ling family’s eldest daughter, Ling Huiru, who had remained chaste for the Crown Prince, finally gained the Emperor’s favor. She was set to marry the Crown Prince on the fifteenth of this month.

The invitations had already been sent out. Everyone in Beining knew that the Crown Prince would marry the Ling family’s eldest daughter. All outside guests would return to attend this grand wedding; even other vassal states would have to send princes to offer congratulations.

Even…

Even those who had been taken to Liuli Island would have to come back.

“Heh, even if that stinky girl returns, what of it? The Crown Prince is marrying me now. Am I afraid of her?” Ling Huiru smirked disdainfully as she fixed her hair. Six years had passed, but her temper was unchanged. Her face had matured, adorned with cosmetics, giving her an air of worldly allure.

Ling Roudan, standing nearby, frowned slightly. She was similar to how she had been six years ago, just calmer and more composed. “Big sister, you shouldn’t say that. Third sister has suffered enough. She was so young when she was humiliated. Considering what happened back then, it wasn’t entirely her fault.”

“Not her fault? Then is it mine? Hmph! Second sister, don’t get involved. You should know she’s not our father’s biological child. Our family has raised her all this time, which is already more than fair,” Ling Huiru said coldly, playing with her hair.

Just as she spoke, a servant hurried in. “The Crown Prince has arrived!”

The Crown Prince! Ling Huiru quickly stood and glanced outside. There stood the man in pale yellow robes, his cold, stern face as ever. He simply waved and said, “Everyone leave. Huiru, stay.”

“Yes, Your Highness,” she replied, heart brimming with joy. She gave Ling Roudan a meaningful glance and moved closer to Nangong Mo.

Once all the servants had left, Nangong Mo turned to look at Ling Huiru. His anxious eyes studied her, but before he could speak, Ling Huiru slithered around his waist like a snake, whispering, “Your Highness, I knew you would come. Do you need Huiru’s help?”

Her small hands began undoing his clothes.

But he frowned, calmly restraining her hands. “Not yet. Tell me, I heard Ruoxi is returning. Is that true?”

At the mention of Ruoxi, Ling Huiru’s expression darkened. She reluctantly sat on his lap, wrapping herself around his neck. “Your Highness, why are you still thinking of her? I’m about to become your wife…”

Her soft voice sank into Nangong Mo’s heart, like a cat’s claws scraping at him. He recalled the image of the enchanting woman, her incomparable beauty.

Suddenly, he lifted her up and carried her to the bed.

“Hehe…” Ling Huiru giggled, entwining herself around his neck, her soft hands undoing his clothing, whispering, “Your Highness, Huiru missed you…”

“Ruoxi!” Under the moonlight, her face seemed like a forest spirit, taking over his heart. From now on, no one could enter his heart. He was bewitched by her, yet she would not return. If it weren’t for the Emperor pushing his marriage, he wouldn’t have married her!

“Damn it!” He tore off her clothes, imagining it was Ruoxi in his arms. He pressed her face and kissed her pale skin, pouring out all his longing.

“Your Highness, Your Highness!” Ling Huiru, lost in passion, clung to his waist, trying to look at him, but he pressed her down, leaving her powerless to resist.

It was as if he were venting, taking without care, with no tenderness—returning to that night when warmth no longer existed. Ling Huiru knew that night, she drank with him, he was drunk, mistook her for Ruoxi, and she went along with it.

From that step, she belonged to Nangong Mo. Even during this wedding, she had secretly informed the Emperor of their relationship to gain this advantage.

But each time they made love, Nangong Mo was like a stranger, never gentle, always avoiding her eyes, unwilling to touch her lips—just venting desire.

Yet, even so, Ling Huiru was satisfied!

“Tell me, is Ruoxi really coming back?” His dark eyes softened as he thought of her, heart racing.

“Yes, she’s returning,” Ling Huiru nestled in his arms, smiling sweetly. “Your Highness, are you still thinking of her? That girl got pregnant six years ago. Maybe she’s returning with a child.”

“Do you really like her, Your Highness? Hmph, with her personality, even on Liuli Island, she’d seduce other men. Don’t be fooled by appearances!” Ling Huiru whispered, licking his red lips.

Nangong Mo shivered, his eyes darkening. He pushed her away, dressed quickly, and said, “I’m returning to the palace first.”

“Your Highness!” Ling Huiru slammed the bed in frustration, covering her chest with the blanket. That wretched girl—just leaving makes him remember her so!

Hmph, if she returns, she’ll be stopped before she can go too far. Then she could truly become Crown Princess.

“Ah-choo!” Ling Ruoxi sneezed, rubbing her nose. Seeing the two children sleeping on the bed, she covered them with the blanket.

Stretching, she looked at the moonlight outside and sipped tea. “Ah, the moonlight is beautiful… too bad there’s no handsome man. What a pity.”

After finishing the tea, she set the cup down and smiled. “But at least there are a few little mice as bodyguards. If any assassins come, they’ll alert me immediately.”

Meanwhile, on the eaves, several people turned pale, quickly dropping down, reaching to hit her head.

“Who are you calling mice?!” Ling Ruoxi glared at them, as the chubby figure yanked off the mask, frowning.

The other two pulled off their masks and laughed. “Little junior sister, don’t mess around. Our master ordered us: you must accompany us back after attending the wedding.”

“Three senior brothers, I know. But sneaking onto my roof in the middle of the night? Were you bored? We agreed to travel together, yet you still act like assassins—asking for trouble.” Ling Ruoxi couldn’t help but laugh.

When leaving Liuli Island, they hadn’t traveled with her. Now, sneaking behind her like this, they really did look like assassins.

Jinxuan patted her chest. “We brought this on ourselves. The little ones are asleep now, you should rest early too. Life in the capital is different from the island—people here are particularly wary of you. Be careful. We’ll leave now…”

“Senior brother, I told you not to fuss!” Ling Ruoxi said helplessly, shaking her head at them.
