A gentle breeze rose, and the tranquil village lay secluded from the world. Small cyan stone houses lined the narrow green paths, their reflections mirrored in the water, giving the place a distinct Jiangnan charm. With no Dou Qi practitioners present, the spiritual energy here was nurtured by heaven and earth and was even denser than outside. No wonder he couldn’t find them—so this was where they had run off to.

Slowly extending his right hand, the red-clad figure stood outside the barrier. With one hand resting against it, as if pushing open a door, he effortlessly stepped inside. His sword-like brows lifted slightly as he instinctively raised his hand—only to discover he couldn’t gather any Dou Qi at all.

“Interesting. Looks like in here, one can only be an ordinary person,” he said with a faint smile. The fiery-red figure stepped forward, but before he could take another step, the sky ahead suddenly darkened. Boundless black clouds pressed downward, lightning writhing within them as if about to tear the heavens apart.

This sight nearly made the King of Eastern Capital’s eyes pop out.

There was actually a Dou Qi practitioner inside!

In an environment where Dou Qi couldn’t be used, encountering a thunder tribulation—what terrible luck that practitioner had.

Before he could see clearly, a silver-white figure was blasted away by a fierce gust of wind. Only by grabbing his pants did the figure manage to stop. “Silver Wolf? Why are you here? Let go first!”

“Huh? King of Eastern Capital, why are you here?” Silver Wolf exclaimed. “This isn’t the time for that! Ruoxi has been in seclusion up ahead for almost a year, and now she’s actually triggered a thunder tribulation! I was blown out by her protective gale—she’s alone in there now! In this damn place you can’t even use Dou Qi. Since you’re here, hurry and go check on her!”

Brushing leaves off his head, Silver Wolf rushed forward. Yet amid the raging gales, the person standing in the wind calmly gazed up at the sky, as if deep in thought. A sharp gleam burst from his eyes, and he instinctively looked toward the silver-white figure.

“What are you doing? Ruoxi, it’s me—do you still recognize me?” Endless darkness spread, and a pair of lifeless eyes stared straight at him. Silver Wolf’s scalp tingled, a chill running through him. How had her aura become so terrifying?

Cold light flickered deep in her eyes. Ling Ruoxi stood there, her gaze icy. With a single finger, she sent a streak of fiery-red energy straight toward Silver Wolf’s forehead.

The tiny flame touched his brow, and it felt as if he’d been struck by a heavy blow. His eyes nearly bulged, his heart slammed as if hammered, breath stolen from him. After three seconds, he finally gasped for air, staring blankly at her. “Y-you… what are you doing, Ruoxi? It’s me, Silver Wolf…”

“I know you’re Little White. And now, it’s you,” she said solemnly, turning her gaze toward the lightning above.

A sense of foreboding rose in Silver Wolf’s heart. He shuddered, realizing something was terribly wrong. He jerked his head up to look at the lightning, every hair on his body standing on end.

“My heavens—no way! Ruoxi, are you trying to kill me?!”

Before his shout fully escaped, he turned to flee—but the lightning was faster.

Purple lightning struck down like a writhing serpent. The ground trembled violently, collapsing outward from Silver Wolf’s position. Trees snapped in half.

The red-clad figure on the hillside stared in shock, sucking in cold breaths, eyes wide. What kind of situation was this?!

Wasn’t Ruoxi supposed to be undergoing tribulation? How did it turn into Silver Wolf instead?

“Puff…” The white figure ahead was now completely charred, silver hair standing on end. Smoke puffed from his mouth as he stiffly turned to look back, eyes vacant.

Was this really meant to kill him?

“Buzz!”

With a gentle lift of her hand, golden light descended, swiftly enveloping Silver Wolf. His lightning-struck body absorbed it greedily, like parched land drinking sweet rain. An itchy warmth spread through him, and he couldn’t help but moan in comfort.

Stretching lazily, he yawned and looked at Ling Ruoxi with hazy eyes, smiling faintly. “Again… so comfortable, amazing. Ruoxi, your medical skills have improved so much…”

The lightning above rumbled again, thicker bolts crashing down.

“Boom!” The ground sank further, nearly flattening the hilltop. Lightning continued to fall—but the one standing at the center was utterly dumbfounded.

He looked up at the lightning, then at Ling Ruoxi healing him. Goosebumps erupted all over his body. He nearly jumped, but under the thunder’s might, he couldn’t move at all.

“Ruoxi, this is too much! You treat me like an experiment for everything—even your medical skills! Why make me undergo tribulation? I’ve already survived thunder tribulation as a beast! This is cheating—I’m done!”

“Boom!”

The lightning went berserk, smashing down again and again, carving a massive gash through the mountain.

Even the King of Eastern Capital silently prayed for Silver Wolf. Watching him get torn apart by lightning and then healed again by Ling Ruoxi—it was torture, healing, torture, healing.

When the final bolt fell, Silver Wolf lay completely sprawled on the ground. No matter how gentle Ling Ruoxi’s qi was, he dared not absorb it greedily. He gasped heavily, claws dug into the ground, silver hair curled and singed.

A free ionic perm—he didn’t know what to say.

“Phew.” Ling Ruoxi calmly withdrew her qi, opened her eyes, and leapt down, pulling Silver Wolf up by one hand. Raising a brow, she said, “What’s wrong? That little bit and you can’t take it?”

“You’re insane!” Silver Wolf snapped, brushing dust from his head. “Why pick me? The King of Eastern Capital is right there—why not make him undergo tribulation?!”

With a twitch of her mouth, Ling Ruoxi pressed his head down and said lightly, “Not convinced? You’re a magical beast—getting struck by lightning a few times won’t hurt. My tribulation is different; I chose to undergo it as a medical practitioner, so the lightning wouldn’t strike me. I needed a test subject to verify my skills, so you were honored with the role. Felt pretty good, didn’t it?”

She patted his shoulder and turned toward the hillside. “King of Eastern Capital, long time no see. But why are you here?”

“Neighboring River County really is hard to find,” he replied with a faint smile, resting a hand briefly on her head. Seeing her again, she seemed far more unfathomable than before.

He withdrew his hand and continued, “Where is Luo Mingyu? I came to discuss something with all of you. Just… don’t be too shocked.”

A bloody stench lingered in the air, nauseating, as if one were standing in the midst of it.

“So Neighboring River County keeps shifting—no fixed time or location. Even if you find it, it soon moves again. That’s why it took you a year to find us?” Silver Wolf asked, chin in hand, brows raised.

The King of Eastern Capital nodded grimly. His gaze fell on Luo Mingyu, whose expression darkened further.

Ling Ruoxi half-understood. Neighboring River County was isolated from the outside world, hidden by strange formations that shifted naturally.

“Then why did you come looking for us?” Luo Mingyu asked, tapping the table, eyes sharp.

The King of Eastern Capital’s face turned heavy. After a pause, he sighed. “A year ago, Baili Wushuang forcibly broke out of seclusion and left Qiongyu Immortal Island.”

Like a thunderbolt, those few words made everyone gasp.

Baili Wushuang—had emerged?

The King of Eastern Capital continued coldly, “By the island lord’s order, I searched for you. Meanwhile, Baili Wushuang rapidly expanded her power. And one more thing—there is no longer a Wicked King Island on the continent.”

“Buzz!”

Something exploded in Luo Mingyu’s mind. He shot to his feet, face dark, eerie purple-black light flashing in his eyes.
