“Poison Scripture.”

It was still the medical classic she had once cultivated, though she hadn’t touched it for a long time and had almost forgotten it. Since that was the case, she would carefully reread it and see exactly what was written and recorded within.

Whoosh!

Silver Wolf suddenly leapt backward. A violent gale sprang up out of nowhere, whipping through the surrounding trees. Yet the seated figure remained wrapped in golden light. In the next instant, the wings behind her suddenly folded downward, swiftly enclosing Ling Ruoxi within, completely blocking any view of her condition.

The surrounding aura plunged into total chaos. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth was violently stirred, like a tornado surging forward and rushing into the cocoon ahead. Silver Wolf was truly terrified—his eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

“Ruoxi… Ruoxi is actually absorbing the spiritual energy here—no way, damn it…”

Nearly dragged in by the suction force, Silver Wolf hurriedly grabbed onto a nearby tree. The wrinkles on his face were blown taut by the wind as he glared ferociously at the scene before him. This place was absolutely not somewhere a magical beast could endure—he himself could barely withstand such powerful energy. How could Ruoxi possibly endure it inside?!

Buzz!

That familiar sound rang out. A fiery red light shot forth like lightning, swish, stabbing into the ground. Instantly, the wind speed dropped, while the spiritual energy continued to gather toward the Thunder Wall in an extremely fine, controlled stream.

Straightening his silver-white hair, Silver Wolf couldn’t help but let out a long breath. Too dangerous—if it had gone on any longer, he would have been sucked in for sure.

Just as he was about to step forward to check on Ling Ruoxi, a streak of golden light appeared. Flames gathered in midair, forming two words:

Secluded Cultivation.

Silver Wolf stared dumbly at the glowing characters, his mouth hanging open wide enough to stuff in a goose egg. He sucked in a sharp breath.

“What the hell… what the hell is this supposed to mean?! Is she messing with me?! Seclusion—can you just casually go into seclusion like this? And in the middle of nowhere no less! What if something goes wrong?!”

Nearly biting his tongue, Silver Wolf looked helplessly ahead. With a sweep of his right hand, a flash of light shot toward the foot of the mountain. Ling Ruoxi had gone into seclusion—so as a magical beast, he’d just have to stay here and guard her, just in case. He could only hope she’d come out soon, or else life was really going to get miserable.

A chilling aura spread through the room.

The cold, indifferent man stared ahead as invisible sparks crackled in the air. Two men stood facing each other, dark eyes locked, cold light flashing like lightning within them.

“I don’t care who you are,” Luo Mingyu said calmly, “and I won’t interfere with you—but you’d better do what you’re supposed to do.”

The Nine Nether energy around him surged violently, igniting around his body like lightning.

Hua Chou, standing opposite him, merely raised his right hand indifferently. Scorching flames flickered into existence, making the surrounding air tremble as if it might ignite along with the fire.

Under those flames, even Luo Mingyu’s Nine Nether energy was affected, no longer as rampant, instead growing restrained. Hua Chou’s flames fared no better; both forces withdrew back into their owners’ bodies. They both knew—if they fought, neither would benefit. It would only end in mutual injury.

Calmly removing the mask from his face, Hua Chou looked at Luo Mingyu, dark light flickering in his eyes.

“I don’t care about your identity either. All I can say is—I won’t harm anyone.”

“Let’s hope so,” Luo Mingyu replied with a cold smile. A flash of light crossed his eyes as he suddenly reached forward.

The silver-white Dou Qi vanished instantly—and Luo Mingyu’s expression darkened.

The people guarding outside rushed in at once, staring at him in shock. They had no idea what had happened inside, only that the room felt unbearably hot.

“What’s wrong?” Luo Mingyu asked, frowning slightly as he turned to them.

Yuwen Zhiyuan drew in a sharp breath and answered gravely, “Something strange is happening outside. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth is converging in one direction, and it’s even stirring the local spiritual source. I’m worried something serious is happening.”

Clutching the token in his hand, Luo Mingyu strode out of the room and looked toward the gloomy sky. One section of the heavens seemed unnaturally dark, clouds spiraling endlessly without dispersing. Only Dou Qi practitioners could sense it—the surrounding spiritual energy was rapidly flowing toward that single direction, completely being absorbed there.

Dark light flickered in his eyes as Luo Mingyu shook his head.

“It’s fine. Ruoxi has gone into seclusion. Silver Wolf already sent word—he’s staying there to protect her. She should come out in a few days.”

“You can just casually go into seclusion like that?!” Qing Yi nearly jumped in shock. During seclusion, one must seal off the six senses and cut all contact with the outside world. If someone attacked her, she wouldn’t even know. In the past, some practitioners had been devoured by magical beasts precisely because they didn’t understand this. Normally, one would set up barriers and formations and choose a safe place. Ling Ruoxi’s way of doing things was… truly bizarre.

If Qing Yi knew that Ling Ruoxi was comprehending the Dao wherever inspiration struck, he probably wouldn’t even be able to laugh. To freely commune with heaven and earth like that required terrifying comprehension. Without reaching the realm of unity between heaven and man, it was utterly impossible.

Dark light flickered in Yuwen Zhiyuan’s eyes. He nodded and said in a deep voice, “Let’s hope she makes progress after coming out. There’s no time to waste—we should also find a place rich in spiritual energy to build houses and let Hua Chou begin forging the Purple Bamboo Divine Needles.”

A cool breeze rose, sweeping across the land and carrying thoughts far away.

Inside an ice cave, a figure still sat cross-legged, unchanged. The man guarding him suddenly darkened his expression, a sharp glint flashing through eyes like stars. He turned swiftly and rushed out of the cave.

Blood-red streaks of light shot toward the sky like meteors, tearing across the heavens before plunging back down. A bloodthirsty aura spread through the entire space, making it hard to breathe.

Murong Ming drew in a sharp breath, his aged body trembling slightly.

“The Lone Star has fallen… the calamity has begun. Old friend, you’re sleeping peacefully now—but have you ever considered how the rest of us feel? I only hope Ruoxi returns with the Purple Bamboo Divine Needles. At least then there’ll be a sliver of hope. If gathering the needles really can save you… no matter what it takes, I’m willing to do it.”

The person inside the cave, however, heard nothing. He remained seated there coldly, his body icy to the touch.

“I’ve already told Baili Yan that you’re dead. Ruoxi probably knows too. I wonder if that little girl can endure such a blow. Old friend… do you think I did the right thing?”

Inside the ice cave, the seated figure remained still. Yet after those words, the aura within the cave trembled ever so slightly—so faint it was imperceptible.

If Murong Ming had noticed that trace of movement, things might not have turned into such a farce later.

Bloodlight appeared at the horizon. Qiongyu Immortal Island shook violently, the entire island seeming on the verge of collapse as it lurched downward. The mountain ranges ahead quaked and swayed. A black figure shot out like lightning, vanishing into the night in the blink of an eye.

“Quick—run! The forbidden ground is collapsing!”

“How is that possible?! What’s happening here—run!”

“Hurry! Notify the Eastern Capital King and the Island Lord—quick!”

In an instant, countless white figures sped away in all directions, racing outward at top speed. The situation here had to be reported immediately. Qiongyu Immortal Island was about to face a calamity unseen in a hundred years!

“This is bad—the forbidden ground is in turmoil…” Eyes flashing like lightning, Baili Yan’s face changed drastically. Holding Yi Zhui and Yi Meng, she flipped up instantly, grabbed her long sword, and dashed out.

The two children, still half-asleep, looked at her in confusion.

“Grandma, what’s going on? It’s so noisy…”

“Yeah, it feels like an earthquake… an earthquake?! Brother Yi Zhui, wake up—earthquake!”

“Island Lord! The forbidden ground has been destroyed—Baili Wushuang may have escaped! It’s extremely dangerous there, please don’t go!”

More than a dozen figures rushed forward to block Baili Yan. They knew how dangerous it was ahead—charging in recklessly would mean certain death.

The Eastern Capital King arrived just as swiftly. The fiery red figure stood in the courtyard, fists clenched.

“It’s too late. She’s already gone—and her aura is even stronger than before, filled with murderous resentment. We must contact Ruoxi and Mingyu immediately and have them return. Whether or not the Purple Bamboo Divine Needles are finished, they must come back at once!”

With Baili Wushuang’s emergence, the entire continent would fall into crisis. If that woman joined forces with other men, once disaster spread across the land, it would exceed what they could control.

They had to stop her.

They had to call back those few who were far away.

Otherwise, neither Evil King Island nor Qiongyu Immortal Island would survive!

“But they’re currently in Linshui County,” Baili Yan frowned. “Dou Qi is suppressed there, and messages can’t be exchanged. Even if we send word, they might not receive it!”

Her gaze hardened as she stared toward the mountains. Her hands swiftly formed a seal before her chest as a purple aura spiraled around her.

With raised brows fixed coldly on the mountain range, she declared, “Forbidden Art—Freeze!”

A black figure appeared behind her like a ghost. In the next instant, the towering figure spread his arms, fingers clawing outward. In a blink, the mountain range trembled violently as boundless ice and snow surged forth, freezing it solid.

“This is all I can do,” Baili Yan said solemnly.

“Eastern Capital King—please go to Linshui County at once and inform them!”
