Clang! A spear swept forward, shattering the foreclaw of the creature ahead.
Boom! Another strike, and the heavy head was sent flying.
Clang! A thrust pierced the fragile body, pinning it to a large tree.
Horrifying!
Even without Dou Qi, the woman ahead moved like a rakshasa, her murderous aura bursting forth. Her sharp, ruthless techniques ignored the surrounding beasts entirely. Her long hair whipped in the wind, the silver mask on her face already streaked with blood. With a hint of disgust, she stepped back. “Run, or die—your choice!”
Clap, clap, clap! Applause echoed continuously. The silver wolf sitting atop the bamboo chuckled and gave a thumbs-up. “Not bad! When you practice your skills, you never call me. Look at all these low-level beasts around you—utterly lacking challenge, hmm?”
The aura of the divine beast spread. The rampaging monsters trembled and dared not advance. A flicker of terror passed in their eyes as they retreated, and eventually, all of the monsters fled.
“What are you doing here?” Ling Ruoxi raised an eyebrow, retracting her spear. This little brat was supposed to be playing outside with Qingyi—how did he end up in the Bamboo Sea?
Yawning, the silver wolf jumped down lightly from the bamboo, his long silver hair flowing. Pinching his hair in one hand, he said helplessly, “Since you two set out, we’ve been following behind. But is this really okay? You left us behind and ran off into the Bamboo Sea for a private meeting. Oh, I forgot—you two first met here in the Bamboo Sea. Is this some nostalgic revisit to that memory?”
Ling Ruoxi rolled her eyes at him. “Does revisiting memories usually look like this, surrounded by monsters?” She retrieved her compass, focusing on the direction it pointed.
The wolf’s fur nearly bristled. His eyes locked on the compass in Ling Ruoxi’s hand. “You’re not thinking of using that to find the Purple Bamboo Divine Needle, are you? We can’t even understand this, how would we know where to look? Luo Mingyu doesn’t even know what it does—do you?”
“Of course. Impressed by my intelligence? This little thing is no challenge for me. Just stick close and learn properly!” Ling Ruoxi patted the wolf on the shoulder, saying no more, lowering her head in thought as she studied the still-wavering compass needle.
Her gaze flicked, turning to the silver wolf beside her.
The wolf shivered, sensing the strange intensity in her eyes. He quickly raised his hands defensively, panic in his voice. “What are you doing? You’re a mother of two, and Luo Mingyu’s wife. I’m a respectable man in love—I won’t just submit. But if you really want, I’ll reluctantly go along… after all, you’ve bathed me, scrubbed my back, seen it all…”
“Get lost!” Ling Ruoxi’s lips twitched as she kicked him in the rear. The bathing story happened when he was still a wolf—how could she have known she picked up something so special?
The compass still wavered. Ling Ruoxi’s patience wore thin. She glared at the wolf. “Move away! The monsters’ presence is affecting the compass. It can’t stabilize!”
“Could it be that you’re too weak to read the direction, so you’re clinging to me?” The wolf raised an eyebrow. Seeing Ling Ruoxi’s murderous glare, he quickly bolted.
Ling Ruoxi jabbed a bamboo stalk in his direction, frustrated. She didn’t understand why, whenever monsters were nearby, the compass would spin wildly, completely untrustworthy. Perhaps the beasts’ aura interfered with it.
Focusing, Ling Ruoxi studied the compass. Slowly, the needle began to stabilize. She lowered her head, pondering for a moment, and realized the solution. She stepped forward decisively.
“Qingyi?” Luo Mingyu landed quickly, looking at the figure before him, his star-like eyes filled with puzzlement.
The person crouching beside him pressed a hand to their lips and whispered, “Look here.”
“Here?” Luo Mingyu leaned in, his pupils constricting. The ground beneath him suddenly sank. A powerful pulling force erupted, and his Dou Qi was completely sealed—he could not move as he slid down the long tunnel below.
The stabilized compass needle wavered again. Ling Ruoxi’s brow furrowed tighter as she scanned the surroundings. Could that mischievous silver wolf be back?
Steeling herself, Ling Ruoxi shouted, “Brat, come out!”
The Bamboo Sea remained silent, only the rustle of bamboo leaves. She scanned around but saw nothing—no monsters. Yet the compass trembled violently, a sense of foreboding rising. She quickly retracted it.
Silence. The Bamboo Sea was eerily still, as if all sound had vanished. No wind, no footsteps, not even her heartbeat.
The bamboo leaves still swayed, their emerald tips dancing in front of her.
An illusion!
Her pupils constricted. Ling Ruoxi stepped back sharply—she had entered an illusion! One step out, and her expression changed drastically as she fell backward. Behind her had become an endless cliff.
“Ahhh!”
A sense of weightlessness surged, her screams piercing the Bamboo Sea.
Dizzy, she struggled to regain composure. Around her, the mist was thick—she could see nothing ahead. Standing in the white fog, even the compass failed to indicate direction.
Instinctively, she moved forward, pushing through the smoke.
Whoosh! A black figure flickered in front of her, like lightning.
Her heart sank. Eyes scanning cautiously, her right hand lifted, gripping the Thunderbolt Spear. She stepped carefully forward.
Swish! The spear sliced through the air. The black figure vanished. She growled and lunged, spear held high.
Dozens of figures appeared simultaneously, surrounding her. Her spear flicked; a flash of brilliance appeared in her eyes. She leapt, murderous aura surging forward.
She inhaled sharply. “Who are you!”
Silence. The surrounding white mist obscured everything. The black figures moved like phantoms, slipping between her strikes. No matter how fast she moved, she could not touch them.
Her long lashes quivered. A person lying on the ground opened their eyes, the world shrouded in white fog. The black figure raced past, raising a black Blood Demon Scythe.
Cold killing intent spread. The figure moved like the Grim Reaper, swinging the scythe, slicing through the fog—yet still seeing nothing. Step by step, the grip on the scythe tightened.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! The black figure flashed close. With a spin of the scythe, it surged downward, aiming at a shadow below.
Within the white fog, a figure froze. A violent aura erupted behind her. She spun, spear raised, striking forward.
Clang! For the first time in the illusion, the spear struck a tangible object. Sparks flew as spear and scythe collided. But both could only see the white mist and the black figure.
They quickly stepped back. Between them, only white fog remained—neither could see or identify the other.
“Who are you?” Ling Ruoxi furrowed her brow, sensing familiarity but unable to place it. She stared blankly, unable to strike.
The figure opposite paused, also unable to hear or see. But the force and familiarity felt unmistakable. A faint glint appeared in their eyes as a low voice echoed, “Who are you?”
Buzz! The black figure flickered. Both raised their heads. Spear and scythe clashed simultaneously, releasing murderous aura. The two figures in the mist tangled, neither gaining advantage.
“Damn it! Even without Dou Qi, these humans are this strong!” A hidden observer outside the Bamboo Sea growled, watching the two in the mist. Their eyes were closed, weapons clashing—no fog blocked the observer’s view.
“Good thing we didn’t engage them directly. That woman’s terrifying, that man reckless. But heh… when they’re exhausted, we’ll reap the benefits.”
Sweat dripped from the observer’s forehead. In the mist, the two continued fighting, spear and scythe flashing.
“Push Mountains, Fill Seas!”
“Blood Demon, Wild Dance!”
A blinding light erupted, forcing two nearby monsters to shield their eyes.
When the light dissipated, the two fallen humans lay bloody, trembling. Both had been seriously injured! There’s nothing like personally destroying your opponent—two lovers, locked in mutual destruction.
A cold glint flashed in the eyes of a white fox. It leapt forward with a sinister laugh: “It’s time. Let’s go see… and claim their treasures too.”
