FRGNM -Chapter 189 A Shout for Justice on the Road

A refreshing breeze carried the faint fragrance of the mountains, drifting across the fields. Flocks of birds flapped their wings, soaring freely between heaven and earth.

The shallow grass bent under the horses’ hooves, while scattered flowers almost dazzled the eyes.

The two walking side by side held the reins of their horses, gently stepping across the grass. Their warmth and closeness drew admiration from anyone who saw them.

Looking at their faces, the man seemed like a god descending from the heavens, radiant and dazzling. The woman looked like a fairy from the Nine Heavens, her shy smile blooming on her flushed little face.

She opened her mouth slightly, as if to speak. Then, looking at the man before her, she suddenly placed her hand on her throat to adjust her voice. Moments later, a rough, booming voice erupted:

“Ah-ha ah-ha yi’er yo! When you see injustice, give a shout! When it’s time to act, act!”

“Pfft!” Luo Mingyu nearly burst his eardrums, rubbing his ears in disbelief. Looking at her helplessly, he patted her head. “This was the song you listened to as a child? Why does it feel so… terrifying?”

“Terrifying? Back in the Water Margin, the 108 heroes of Liangshan were true men of valor—bold, fierce, and spectacular. This is the Hero’s Song: ‘When you see injustice, give a shout; when it’s time to act, act!’ Tell me, isn’t that full of power?” Ling Ruoxi patted her chest and raised an eyebrow at him.

They had been traveling for three months, having sent those two little rascals, Yizhui and Yimeng, to Qiongyu Immortal Island. Ling Ruoxi felt some reluctance to leave but had no choice. Over the next hill lay the border of Duanyun Kingdom.

This time, they were posing as ordinary husband and wife, and they weren’t allowed to use Dou Qi—otherwise, they would lose! Out of boredom, they had made a bet three days ago: whoever lost would wash clothes for a month.

Walking for three days without Dou Qi was exhausting, and Ling Ruoxi had felt the pain acutely. Finally reaching a nearby town, they bought two horses—the best way to enjoy the scenery comfortably.

“It’s powerful, I’ll admit. But these ‘heroes’ you speak of—where are they from? Forced to the Liangshan Mountains? Those who deserve death, let them die—why care otherwise?” In this man’s heart, law and justice mattered little. On this strength-based continent, no one truly considered the lives of ordinary people.

Ling Ruoxi realized the era shaped people differently—like the eccentric man before her.

Suddenly, a soft voice cried, “Help! Help…”

Ling Ruoxi raised an eyebrow and patted Luo Mingyu’s chest. “See? Whenever we talk about heroes, trouble arises. Let’s go check it out.”

“Always meddling,” Luo Mingyu muttered, frowning. Without another word, he followed Ling Ruoxi into the forest.

A group of burly men surrounded a frail woman, leering at her. Her clothes were tattered, black hair in disarray, and her hands covered her chest. Her face was streaked with welts from whippings.

“Please, don’t make me go back! I beg you!” she cried, kneeling and bowing repeatedly to the men.

One of the men snorted. “Look at you—you’re nothing but a dowry girl. Trying to act like a phoenix? Your mistress isn’t married yet, and you went over there and killed her husband? What a disaster. Come back with us quietly, or else…”

“I won’t go back! They’re beasts! They want to sell me into a brothel—I won’t go!” Her eyes widened in panic.

The man leered, tugging his belt. “Oh? Since we’re selling you, why not let a few of us have some fun first? You’re already not a virgin anyway—what’s the difference?”

“Don’t come near me! You dare insult my chastity? Even if I die, I won’t let you succeed!” she shouted, suddenly leaping up and charging toward a tree.

But it wasn’t the pain of hitting the tree she felt. Instead, a faint fragrance filled her mind, and she felt herself entranced by a warm embrace. She instinctively opened her eyes.

The man before her wore luxurious white robes adorned with visible white pearls. His chiseled face was like a full moon—handsome, godlike, without any trace of mortal presence. Even his furrowed brows were mesmerizing, and his eyes sparkled like stars in the sky, leaving her spellbound.

“You brat! Who are you?” one of the standing men growled, raising his eyebrows at the man.

“The so-called shout for justice! We’re here to eliminate evil, uphold peace in the universe, from the Galactic Rocket Team!” The man on the tree branch struck a pose, eyebrows raised at the group below.

In broad daylight, she had stumbled upon such a scene. Who else would help? At least a bit further on was Duanyun Kingdom—Nangong Mo’s base. As a friend, helping him was nothing.

“…!”

The group of men twitched. One brandished a large knife. “I don’t care who you are. Bring this girl down! She’s a runaway girl!”

“And so what? I just saw a bunch of dogs trying to assault her. You call her a girl—on what grounds? I’m reporting you for harassing a virtuous woman!” Ling Ruoxi glared at them, touching her nose.

“Time to teach you a lesson!” The men’s faces darkened. Drawing their knives, they moved to strike her.

Cold light flashed in Luo Mingyu’s eyes. His expression turned grim as he released Ling Ruoxi and grabbed a tree branch, firing forward.

“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!” A dozen leaves shot out, striking the men with precision.

Blood splattered, but none were killed.

“Get lost!” Luo Mingyu glared at the men.

“Run! Run!” Knowing his power, the men retreated into the forest without hesitation.

The woman trembled with relief, bowing to Luo Mingyu. “Thank you, young sir, for saving me. I am Ning Yue, grateful to you.”

“No big deal.” Luo Mingyu remained cold, his face always like someone owed him billions. He was only charming when with Ling Ruoxi.

Ling Ruoxi smiled, raising an eyebrow at Ning Yue. “I’m Ling Ruoxi. Hello, Miss Ning Yue.”

“Thank you again. Are you two siblings?” Ning Yue looked at them hopefully; they were a perfect match.

Slightly amused, Ling Ruoxi patted her chest. “Yes, we’re siblings. Right, Brother Mingyu… no, Uncle Mingyu?”

“Your generation is far below mine.” Luo Mingyu patted her head, uninterested in explaining. “Since it’s over, miss, you may leave.”

“But I have nowhere to go. Can you take me with you?” Ning Yue quickly stepped in front of Luo Mingyu, excited, brushing her hair back. She believed her beauty rivaled Ling Ruoxi’s and hoped to win his favor with a little effort.

“Fine. We’re going to Duanyun Kingdom anyway. Together… Hey! What are you pulling me for?” Ling Ruoxi glared at him.

“She has hands and feet. Why would you need to carry her? Duanyun Kingdom is just ahead—you can see it. No need to help,” Luo Mingyu said coldly.

Raising an eyebrow, Ling Ruoxi smiled. “Ah, I see. I was left in the bamboo forest before, saved by Ye Ningfeng. Helping another woman in a similar situation isn’t wrong.”

Duanyun Kingdom was as bustling as ever. Street food stalls made Ling Ruoxi’s mouth water.

Inside a clothing shop, the latest garments and accessories dazzled the eye. Ling Ruoxi’s gaze landed on a long emerald dress. Propping her face on one hand, she said, “Boss, get me that dress to try on.”

“Eh? Ruoxi, that dress is beautiful!” The other woman’s eyes sparkled as she stared at it.

Ling Ruoxi asked the shopkeeper, “Is there another one like it?”

“No, everything here is limited. Only this one exists,” the shopkeeper shook his head.

Reluctantly, Ling Ruoxi handed the dress to Ning Yue. “Then you try it on first.”

Ning Yue’s tattered clothes barely covered her by Luo Mingyu’s cloak. Though thin-skinned, she was excited to try on the new dress.

Luo Mingyu frowned at Ling Ruoxi. “Why give it to her if you liked it?”

“She likes it, so why not? I have clothes anyway. That one just looks nice. Hmm?” Ling Ruoxi’s eyes fell on another outfit, a white dress with a yellow over-skirt, simple yet elegant.

She had the shopkeeper fetch it and quickly slipped into it.

Soon, the girl in emerald stepped out. Her figure was tall and graceful; her chest was wrapped in a bustier, revealing a deep cleavage. Snowy skin, jet-black hair pinned casually with a jade hairpin.

Cleaned up, she looked even more stunning than in the forest. She also applied rouge, making her even more radiant.
