“So what if I’m a venomous woman? At least I’m beautiful—that’s enough!” With a charming smile, Baili Wushuang chuckled softly.
Goosebumps almost rose all over her body. Ling Ruoxi knew there was simply no way to communicate with the person in front of her. She looked at the Wujing Realm that was so close at hand, at the completely collapsed mountain peak—her mother was buried beneath this mountain!
“Move aside.” Clenching her fists tightly, Ling Ruoxi stared ahead. With a step forward, she had already moved toward the front.
“Want to leave? Not that easy!” With a low roar, the figure blocking the way flashed and darted ahead, seizing the initiative to stand in front of Ling Ruoxi. Her right hand stretched out, reaching toward that figure.
But just as her right hand extended, the figure in front merely twisted lightly and actually slipped past her with ease!
What kind of movement technique was this? Baili Wushuang’s dark pupils contracted sharply. She sucked in a cold breath, turned around, and continued chasing after the figure.
Yet the faster she became, the slower the figure ahead seemed—still able to evade her pursuit with perfect precision, veering off to the side.
“Hmph, I don’t believe I can’t catch you!” With a cold snort, Baili Wushuang lost her patience. She spread her hands wide, and the Thunder Spear appeared in her grasp. Purple Dou Qi surged as the long spear swept out like a roaming serpent.
Ling Ruoxi’s expression changed. The figure stepping forward retreated rapidly. The spear’s momentum was fierce, like a flood dragon emerging from its lair, its sharp aura surging outward and shaking the surroundings violently.
“Bang?!”
A deep trench appeared beneath her feet. Ling Ruoxi’s heart nearly stopped beating—what had just happened was far too dangerous. If she had been even a step slower, she would already have been torn to pieces.
Raising an eyebrow, Baili Wushuang laughed softly. “Oh? Looks like you’ve grown quite a bit. You actually managed to dodge one of my strikes. Fine, I’ll play with you a little!”
With a flick of her right hand, a bluish-purple divine dragon appeared on her spear, wreathed in blazing flames, as if it contained the power to split the heavens. With a casual thrust, the flames on the Thunder Spear erupted like dragon fire, shooting toward Ling Ruoxi.
“Huff!” Ling Ruoxi’s face darkened as she retreated rapidly. The purple wings on her back spread open violently, cocoon-like, wrapping around her in an instant.
“Boom!” The ferocious flames slammed into the wings, producing only a muffled sound. Inside, Ling Ruoxi nearly spat out a mouthful of blood.
She understood now—there was far too great a gap between her strength and Baili Wushuang’s. She spoke of rescuing her mother, but in the end, could she really do nothing at all?
“I told you to wait for me. Why are you running so fast?” That familiar voice sounded deep within her heart.
Ling Ruoxi froze, then quickly opened her purple wings.
A white figure stood in front of her. The smile at the corner of his lips was dazzling—yet he no longer had the same elegance as before.
There were additional wounds on his fair face, and even his familiar white robes were torn in several places.
“You…” All the words reached her lips, yet she didn’t know what to say. Looking at him, Ling Ruoxi was stunned.
No matter how much Silver Wolf usually fooled around, he was still her natal beast. But in his eyes, there had never been any trace of his former wild nature.
Now, however, that stubborn gaze stared straight ahead—exactly the same as when she first met him. Even when forced into a desperate situation, there was not the slightest hint of fear. That was the gaze unique to the wolf clan: a different kind of coldness, a different kind of burning passion.
Bloodthirsty light flickered in his eyes as his wolf nature emerged. He extended a hand to block Ling Ruoxi behind him. “Leave this to me. Go over there. Isn’t your mother down below? Go—quickly!”
“Xiao Bai…” At that moment, Ling Ruoxi didn’t even realize how badly her voice was trembling. She knew there was nothing more to say. She slowly reached out, placing her hand on his scorching palm. A sharp light flashed in her eyes. “Mm. Be careful too.”
“Whoosh!” The small figure suddenly charged forward, and in that instant, even his gaze completely changed.
Those eyes…
Even Baili Wushuang was momentarily stunned. What kind of eyes were those? Clearly so weak, yet pretending not to be afraid at all—how annoying.
“A mere wolf cub, and you think you can do something for your master?” The corner of Baili Wushuang’s mouth lifted. She stared at Silver Wolf, twirling the Thunder Spear in her hand, its tip pointing straight at his throat. With just a gentle push forward, the wolf before her would leave this world forever.
A smile slowly appeared on her face. Silver Wolf merely looked at her wickedly. His claws extended, and a faint white Dou Qi appeared around them.
“Oh? Old woman, I forgot to tell you—I hate it when people call me a wolf cub.”
The moment the words fell, white Dou Qi burst out like lightning, dragging the surrounding air with it as it swept violently forward.
Facing her coldly stood a man with flowing white hair. In his black pupils shimmered a幽 green glow. That pride unique to wolves—stubborn, cold, and never willing to submit.
“Clang!” The Thunder Spear spun in her hand and struck forward. Crimson light flared along the spear shaft, brilliant radiance bursting forth.
“Swish!” The white figure retreated rapidly. The right hand behind his back had already been scorched by flames. A flash of shock crossed his eyes, but he asked coldly, “What is this thing?!”
His claws were incomparably sharp. As a magical beast, his body was something ordinary weapons couldn’t pierce. Yet this seemingly ordinary spear was clearly not so simple.
“This?” Baili Wushuang laughed arrogantly. “I forgot to tell you—this is the island-guarding treasure of Qiongyu Immortal Island: the Thunder Spear. No matter how tough your fur is, you’ll die under my spear.”
Is that so?
Silver Wolf’s right hand sank slightly as white light flared. The scorched marks vanished in an instant. The smiling man lifted his left hand to his chin, lips curling upward. “I forgot to tell you—you’re not worthy of making me use my weapon. However, I am quite wary of that Thunder Spear of yours. Do you know why I became Ling Ruoxi’s natal beast?”
“And what does that have to do with me?” Baili Wushuang laughed coldly. With the Wujing Realm collapsed, and given Ling Ruoxi’s strength, she wouldn’t find Baili Yan anytime soon. Even if things dragged on a bit longer, so what?
Silver Wolf smiled faintly, but there was no warmth in it. He brought his hands together before his chest, silver-white Dou Qi swirling as he slowly pulled them apart. “Because I was being hunted, and she happened to save me. Do you know why I was hunted?”
Baili Wushuang stood coldly, her gaze already fixed on the space between his hands.
As white light burst forth and shock appeared on her face, Silver Wolf said calmly, “Because I obtained the Flamefire Spear. So tell me—do you think your Thunder Spear is stronger, or my Flamefire Spear?”
With his final motion, a completely crimson spear appeared, suspended horizontally before him. A brilliant smile bloomed at the corner of his lips as Silver Wolf laughed coldly.
Both wielded spears—between the two of them, who was stronger?
“Seeking death!” Baili Wushuang’s expression changed drastically. The spear in her hand swept violently forward, dark force surging, determined to kill the beast before her.
Silver Wolf merely snorted coldly. Gripping his spear with both hands, he struck backward. His feet sank, Dou Qi surging—power flowing from waist to back, from back to waist, from waist to arms. The Flamefire Spear shot forward like a dragon leaving its cave.
Seeing this, Baili Wushuang was not overly surprised. Purple Dou Qi surged as she didn’t bother to dodge, her spear tip pointing straight at Silver Wolf.
“Ding!”
The spear tips collided. The exploding Dou Qi formed a visible shockwave, spreading outward with Baili Wushuang and Silver Wolf at its center.
Wherever it passed, dust and smoke billowed. Even the ground beneath their feet let out a low groan and sank downward.
“Again!” Silver Wolf’s face had turned somewhat pale, yet he still shouted loudly. With wind in his hands, he lunged forward with spear in hand, unleashing techniques like a tiger descending the mountain and a returning thrust in one continuous flow.
The two figures fought fiercely within the sunken ground. The surrounding magical beasts had already sensed their Dou Qi and dared not approach.
“Boom!”
The explosives mixed with sulfur detonated, yet they were still unable to blow apart the mountain rocks.
Cold sweat poured down her forehead. With her hands sinking, purple Dou Qi transformed into a ferocious dragon, slamming violently into the rocks ahead.
“Why won’t it work, why? Wujing Realm, Wujing Realm! Mother, Mother—can you hear my voice?” Seeing the small crack that appeared, Ling Ruoxi crouched down, using her own strength to quickly move the stones aside.
The formations here could suppress the Dou Qi within the human body. She couldn’t find the formation core, nor could she break the array. But the one thing not restricted was physical strength. With her Dou Qi sealed, all she could do was move the stones bit by bit to find her mother!
“Boom!”
A black scythe clashed with a sharp curved blade. Two massive forces erupted outward. Some cultivators with weaker cultivation were blown away by the shock.
The two figures landed swiftly, each retreating two steps, then forcibly stabilizing themselves—neither willing to yield.
Killing intent gradually surfaced in their eyes. Pale purple light appeared on the curved blade as the King of Eastern Capital looked at the man ahead and waved his hand. “Sorry. This is something I must do. Please don’t stop me. Don’t go over there, alright? I don’t want to kill you.”
“Kill me? Ridiculous. Do you really think you have the strength to kill me?” Luo Mingyu laughed coldly. The Blood Demon Scythe flicked slightly, bringing with it a stench of blood as he stepped forward, one step at a time.
